In the box comes the camera, charging cable, and 10 sheets of its printer paper. It is sleek, lightweight, and smaller than most counterparts. Right away it has a plus, no batteries. This makes it an excellent gift that can be used the same day it’s given without an extra trip for batteries. After no more than a fifteen minute charge time, you’re more than ready to shoot away. The camera itself is easy to use, power button is clearly marked right next to the shoot, buttons to toggle filters and frames are also clearly marked. After you take a photo, wait about four or five seconds as the indicator will begin flashing an array of colors, and the photo will begin audibly printing. It’s a subtle sound, but quite noticeable. If you don’t have anymore paper, do not fret, a standard SD card can be purchased to save any photos you still wish to take, and with the charging cable (or any micro usb) you can connect the camera to a computer to access them. The camera’s quality itself, is a pretty good camera. Taking still photos comes out quite nicely, but if you’re taking photos of moving subjects the camera does not attempt to focus before printing so you may get some blurry images. The vivid setting is as described, a filter that brings out the color in your image, though this setting does sometimes make the image appear less sharp than its original setting. As for the black and white, this setting may be better used for indoors, as the natural sunlight may hit certain surfaces harshly and create sections of bright white on the image that should be darker. But it is still a lovely setting to capture nature and loved ones in. The photos can be printed with or without borders; Without borders produces small pictures that would be nice in a book or even framed with others as a nice collage, and with borders produces photos great for the wall, fridge, or wallet. One last great feature to the photo paper is the sticky backing. Peel the back and stick photos anywhere. Over all, although the quality of the photos are sometime not picture perfect, I would still recommend to friends and family for the size of the camera and the sticky photo paper.

Good first camera for the kids

The Canon Ivy Cliq 2 instant camera printer is more of a novelty item than a useful digital camera or adults. The camera itself has a good build quality that does not make it feel too cheap. It reminds me of a hybrid of the first camera my parents bought for me when we were going on vacation just so I would not screw up their SLR camera and a polaroid camera. The camera has an internal rechargeable battery that is charged via the micro usb input at the bottom of the camera. There is also a micro sd slot at the bottom of that camera so that you can save the photos you take in a digital format The camera does not have any digital screen on it so that you can preview the photos prior to printing them. You simply frame the photo in the viewfinder and click the shutter button. The camera does give you a audible sound to indicate that it took a picture. You have the option of printing a photo with no filter, a vivid filter or a black and white filter and with or without a border. The print quality is not going to blow you away however its good enough for the kids to take some fun photos. The 2 X 3 instant photo paper that the camera uses is peel and stick so you can make your own photo stickers. Simply put if you are expecting a great print quality from these photos then you will be disappointed. This is more of a fun novelty item for the kids so they can have the nostalgic feeling of using a polaroid type camera.

The Canon Ivy Cliq 2 instant film camera will be nostalgic to many of us that grew up with instant cameras. It's also at a price point that makes it affordable as a fun camera for kids or teenagers. If you're looking for a camera that produces really exceptional quality photos though then this camera may not be for you as the print resolution according to Canon is 314x600 dpi with a 5MP camera. The camera itself has no built in storage and so you may want to consider adding a MicroSD memory card (up to 256GB). The battery life is quite good with the ability to take approximately 25 photos between charges and the battery is charged with a Micro USB cable.

Perfect solution for the forgotten printed photos!

It is easy to forget that in the old days you used to print the photos as soon as you finished the roll, but now that you are able to see them immediately either in your cell phone or Digital Pro Camera. However, if you are not organized or careful, like me, and lose your phone, or camera you will ended up losing years of unrecoverable moments instead of keeping your picture data in a secure and reliable storage. With the Canon Cliq 2 camera you will have your pictures printed instantly with good quality and saved as well in a SD card, that unlike other polaroid cameras, the Canon Cliq2 has that option and on top of that it’s a Canon camera, what could possibly go wrong? The setup is very simple, unpacking the camera you will find the wristband, a USB to microUSB cable, the camera, and a pack of 10 sticky backed photo paper. The camera includes a built-in rechargeable lithium battery, and I took around 1 1/2 hours to fully charge. A charging status led located beside the microUSB port will let you know when it is fully charged when there is a solid green light. On the other side of the Battery status light there is a microSD Port where you can add a microSD memory up to 256GB. The camera operation is pretty much very intuitive with only a few simple buttons whose function is described in the instructions. This is a simple and modern camera. I already have a polaroid camera, that take up a lot of space and weigh too much for my bags, but my favorite thing about this camera is that I can easily take it anywhere without a problem because of it’s convenient size. Another cool feature is that the front side of the camera has a round mirror around the lens that makes it easier to take selfies. The mirror has also four clear corners that indicate where the frame would be. These four corners also appear in the viewfinder. This extremely helpful because you can actually see exactly what will appear within the frame of the photo. Unlike the previous canon ivy cameras, this one comes with more features that let you choose how you want the photo to come out. For example, this new version comes with a filter/black and white button and also a white frame button. This feature allows you to take a regular picture if you don’t press it, if you press it once then the picture will be printed black and white, and pressing it again the picture will print with a filter. This filter looks very cute because it really outlines the colors. The white frame button makes the picture be printed with a slim white frame around the border like the original polaroid’s or you could not have the white by not pressing the button. I have attached two sample pictures that I took of my golden retriever. The top picture is without the filter and without the white frame. The second picture has the filter with the white frame. I personally like second picture because the filter makes all the colors pop. This camera comes with the feature to place an SD card. You could remove this card at any time and have all your pictures there or you could also connect the camera directly to your computer using the USB cable that comes with the camera and see all the pictures that have been taken in there. And if you ran out of photo paper you can continue taking pictures and digitally saved in the MicroSD card. This camera prints good quality pictures and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a convenient camera printer for any trip.

Keep Your Expectations in Check and You'll Love It

Let's get this review started! First off, this isn't a DSLR, this isn't a dedicated point and shoot, this is an instant camera which means you'll be able to take a picture and get it printed instantly. With that out of the way, let me say that this camera is so much fun. I'm sure that this camera will eventually be stolen by my daughter, but for the time being I'm torturing the family by taking pictures of everything around the house incessantly. Camera performance is great in most lighting, but you definitely notice a degradation of quality in low light, so be aware of that limitation. Outdoor shots with this camera came out crisp and clear. The camera prints quickly, so within a few seconds you should be holding a picture that's slowly fading into view like in the olden days of instant film cameras. The advantage is that you actually have a picture right then and there, sometimes of mediocre quality, but you do indeed have a picture in your hands instead of one sitting on your SD card until you someday decide to print it off. The camera uses special paper which is of course a tad pricey, so be sure to catch sales when possible. The only star I'm knocking off is for the special paper, which much like ink cartridges is proprietary and I just don't really dig proprietary refill methods for products. If you buy this camera with the right expectations, of it being a fun camera and not a professional shooting device, then I believe you won't be disappointed. This would make a fantastic gift for a child or tween as well and should be a hot item for the holidays. Pros: Small size Decent battery life Decent quality pictures Cons: Low light performance is meh Proprietary paper

    A fun child's toy...

Let me start off by saying that if you're a novice photographer or someone who is looking to take some high quality photos, this is not the camera for you. However, if you're looking for a novelty camera for some laid back fun, the Canon Ivy cliq 2 is a decent choice. This camera attempts to bring back two types of cameras that haven't been popular in a good long time; and those are the point and shoot cameras and "polaroid" instant cameras. I say that the camera is a novelty because of the type of camera that it uses, and it's a specific type of printer paper that has an adhesive on the back. The camera itself takes decent photos. This was clearly engineered with a younger target audience in mind. The camera takes good photos in the daytime, but is somewhat poor in low light settings. The photos are a bit grainy but not the worst. It comes with a rechargeable battery and charging USB cable, but other than that, nothing really stands out. It would have been nice if it had wifi so you could have the option to print out the photo on your own printer if you wanted to. The overall photo quality of the photos that the camera takes is comparable to cameras on smartphones of 2015. This could be a great way to get kids interested in photography, or a camera for them to use on a family vacation instead of their smartphone. There really is nothing that makes the Ivy Cliq 2 stand out or special. I think this is a product that is about 5 years too late to the party.
