Canon has hit a hole in one with this range finder. It is compact, lightweight, full of useful features and takes pictures and video! The 12x zoom is one of my favorite features because it gives you a better view of what the layout of the green is and the pin location. It also vibrates when you lock in on the flag and shows the slope, which are both helpful. It takes a little bit of playing with this range finder to get the buttons figured out to the point where you can quickly access features without having to look. But once you get the hang of it, I think you'll find that it's pretty intuitive. Are there any downsides? Yes. It would be helpful if it had a magnet to attach it to the cart, or a strap, but that's not a dealbreaker for me. I need another charging cable like I need another hole in my head, but there isn't one included with this. However, I give Canon props for having the foresight to make it USB-C for charging, vs the micro-usb connections that a lot of similar devices still use. If you're not going to include a cable, at least make it compatible with the most common port and type of cable that most people will be carrying. Battery life is decent. In the couple of times I've used it, the first one it seemed to drain quickly. The second time it was better. The first one was probably because I was messing with it a lot and taking pics/video to really test it out, so it makes sense the battery would be down quick. The second time, I had the controls down, wasn't taking tons of pics and the battery was fine for the round. Overall, I love using this. It's so lightweight and compact and easy to use that I can overlook the lack of a magnet. Half the courses I play are walking only anyway, so the magnet wouldn't help me much. It's lightweight enough that you can use the case and wear it on your belt without even noticing it's there. Definitely recommend this!

Overall a fantastic and very pocketable range finder and "camera". We had a beautiful fall weekend last weekend and I was finally able to get out and put this to good use! This isn't my first rangefinder but what stood out to me immediately was how compact it is. I've had "pocket" rangefinders before for which the term was a literal stretch, but this one really is pocket size and packs a punch too. 6x is the default magnification per the documentation and it's quite capable, if anything it seems even a bit much for a default magnification. I have an older optical 7x rangefinder that, side by side, seems less magnified in comparison. If 6x isn't enough you can zoom-in to 12x which works but starts to show grain even in the small viewfinder, but it's nevertheless a quite useful and capable option if you want to scout ahead or pick out specific golf balls, obstacles, or other course features for photos or videos. The default exposure seemed slightly over-exposed in my experience so I backed it down to -1 and have kept it there which helped to bring out details in both the live viewer and in captured images. Two minor issues: One is that the viewfinder seems very bright for indoors, but not quite bright enough when outdoors and sunny. It was always mangeable but indoors (or in darker shaded areas, under canpoy for example) the viewfinder was bright enough to leave visual ghosting when I was done viewing, but under bright sky I was often cupping my hands around the viewfinder to block out as much light as possible so I could make out specifics. I consider this a technical tradeoff of being a screen vs purely optical. The other issue of note to me is that the "flag detection" feature seemed a bit overzealous. I'd often just be ranging trees and wildlife, something this is adept at and useful for despite not being its exact intended function, and it kept marking "flags" even though I was looking at a forested hill or a grassy field with wild turkeys that happened by. I can't say this is a problem exactly, just that it's apparent whatever logic it's using to detect flags isn't very refined. That said, when driving at a range, the distances I'd get from this matched very well with the range's posted distances which is confidence boosting for its primary purpose. All-in-all this is a capable addition to my range bag; it saves some space over my older rangefinder and adds some photo and video capabilities to boot. Videos are time-limited but do include audio and the overall image quality for both photos and videos is very usable for showing off your golfing bloops, blunders, and wonders -- and for capturing whatever else may cross your path.

Unboxing was simple and straight forward. Just charged and inserted the included SD card. Pros: • Viewfinder: The viewfinder is clear and bright, making it easy to reach targets even in challenging lighting conditions. • Features: Beyond basic ranging, this offers slope calculation, image stabilization, and a digital zoom for enhanced accuracy. • Accuracy: I found the accuracy to be consistent within a yard or two of my playing partners on the other device. • Weight: It's compact and was easy to carry throughout the round without adding bulk to my bag. • Battery Life: I used it for an entire 18-hole round without any battery concerns. Cons: • Lack of Magnet: A built-in magnet for easy attachment to a cart would be a welcome addition. • Color Choice: The current color makes it a bit difficult to spot in a cluttered golf bag or cart cubby. • Price Point: It's relatively expensive compared to other rangefinders on the market. • Limited Photo/Video Integration: While the photo and video features are interesting, their usefulness is limited without GPS tagging or integration with golfing apps for course mapping and shot tracking. • Lack of SD Card reader: I was unable to take the images off without an SD card reader. Overall: The Canon PowerShot is a solid rangefinder. The image and video capture capabilities hold potential but fall short of any benefit since there is no app and gps integration to find out where I took that shot in the future. Hopefully this can be addressed in Gen 2. Final thoughts: If you're looking for a rangefinder with excellent optics and basic features, the Canon PowerShot is a good option. However, if you prioritize value or require advanced features like GPS and app integration, you might consider exploring alternatives.

The Canon PowerShot GOLF is not just a digital laser rangefinder, it’s also an annotation device that lets you take photos, videos, or even voice memos while you’re on the green. Photos can be overlaid with the range information that you captured. It’s pretty compact and sleek but doesn’t necessarily stand out from the crowd of other golf rangefinders in terms of looks. As you’d expect, the PowerShot GOLF is designed for mostly one handed operation. There's a laser toggle on the side, manual zoom adjust, digital zoom selection button, and multifunction video record button on the back. Top side you've got the combination power and still photo shutter button as well as the menu button. IO connections are USB C and micro SD. There’s also an LED on the front that lights up when the device is in use and cutouts for microphones for you video or voice memo. An amazing amount of functionality crammed into this device when you consider it's also housing battery, laser, and optics. Usage is pretty straightforward, just power it on and turn on the laser. Note, the default power savings timeout is 5 seconds with the laser off so you'd likely want to change this in the menu until at least establishing muscle memory with the rangefinder. While the size makes it very compact, I did find in my relatively larger hands that it took some time to get comfortable holding it in such a way that I wasn't obstructing anything, including my own view of the viewfinder, while also being able to keep my fingers at the ready on the shutter button and laser toggle. But this dance enable me to determine that the shutter is a two stage button. Press down about halfway and it activates autofocus. Press all the way down and you snap a photo. Taking videos was also straightforward though I discovered a surprising and slightly disappointing quirk. Regardless of the size of the micro SD card that you use, videos are limited to one minute in length! If you're going to take photos, you'll want to set the date and time on the rangefinder. There's also a bunch of other settings. Sadly, the only options for distance units are yards or meters. No love for those of us who primarily think in feet. Slope mode, where the reported distance accounts for elevation is also a configurable menu item. When making measurements, the rangefinder can compensate for slight hand movement or vibration. But I found I preferred to set it to continuous measuring mode where you half press the power button while operating the laser versus locking on a target and getting a single measurement. The rangefinder was generally pretty accurate, matching signage to flagpoles distances in yards. Perhaps that's why feet isn't an option, that would require 3X more accuracy. In all, this is a feature packed device that serious golfers or those who take a data oriented approach to improving their game would find useful. While the video recording limitation is a bit disappointing, this isn't a camera and so in practice, the 60s limit isn't really an issue. You're more capturing a quick remark or maybe someone's swing or putt, but otherwise that's it. In all, I'm pretty impressed and would recommend.

This is my first range finder. I had used GPS style devices before but have always wanted to try a range finder. And this one does two things…. It measures distance to the pin and it measures slope of the green. BAM!!! Canon also has added image stabilization to help you lock in on the pin while allowing for light hand movements. Great clear picture. Love it. So now that I know the distance to the pin, Canon went above and beyond and is included slope compensation to help you truly measure the distance to the pin so you can use the right club to get all the way there. Genius. This rangefinder has 6x optical zoom and 12x digital zoom to early help you zoom in and get an accurate reading of the distance. Ready for the hidden gem? This range finder will take photos and videos. So no need to have your phone nearby, you can have your partner use this behind you to capture that incredible swing and approach shot as it happens. This is pretty easy to figure out right from the opening the box. I couldn’t wait to start using it on my next round of golf. The size and weight are great, easy for anyone to handle and use. This has been a game changer for my game. I trust the distance and am able to correct select the right club for my shot now. I will be using this with every round of golf. And bonus I am able to capture some of those incredible and unexpected moments on the golf course with the built in camera/video recording to view later.

This is my first range finder and I can say this is one of the most useful pieces of tech I’ve ever used in sport. The amount of features that are packed into this range finder are unbelievable and just about every one is useful on the course. To start, the laser range finder works great. It’s easy to read thru the viewfinder and the optical image stabilization makes it super easy to get a lock on the flag or location you are trying to get a range on. I can’t believe I’ve gone this long without one, but being able to get an accurate distance from anywhere on the course is a real game changer. One other cool range feature is the height function that helps determine the slope of the course. It’s a really neat feature that puts this range finder above the rest. In addition to excellent range finder you can also record video on this range finder. It’s not a huge game changer but it is somewhat convenient to be able to record a shot with the same device you are using to find distance. The battery life is great, it’s lasted a whole 18 holes when I take it out. I really couldn’t ask for much more from a device like this. It feels well built, has plenty of features and is dead simple to use. I couldn’t recommend this any other range finder over this one because it just works so well.

The Canon PowerShot golf rangefinder is a versatile tool to have on the course. The image through the lens is very detailed and clear. There is a Zoom button to help if you are a long way from the pin, but still want to zero-in on your yardage without worrying if you are actually picking up the pin or something else in front or behind it. The pin-lock buzz/notification gives you validation that you are locked in on the flag, but I did notice that I would need to double check it. There were a few instances where it told me it was on the pin, but after a double check I realized that it was not actually correct. Not a big deal- other rangefinders I've had did the same thing but worse. Once you are sure the target marker is actually on the flag, the yardage appears to be spot-on. The slope function seems to be very accurate as well, and the viewfinder differentiates which-reading-is-which very easily. Slope function can be turned off easily if needed for tournament play. You can take pictures and video with this rangefinder that are actually really good resolution. That's nice to have if you want to snap some quick video or pictures of the course without having to get your phone out. The battery is rechargeable, and the included SD memory card would take a very long time to fill with images- I doubt I'd ever be able to fill it myself. My only slight complaint is that it did not include a charging cable, and the carrying case does not have an easy way to attach to my golf bag. Overall I think this is a great product and would definitely recommend it.

I have always been a fan of Cannon and its optics and I love tech toys. This combines them both into a Range Finder with laser as well as a camera and video capture. I have only just started my golf journey so getting the most out of this may take some time for my game to improve to get full use. However the range finder has been helpful in the driving range, helping me understand my clubs and distances. That has been a boon as I'm just trying to hit the ball and I'm sure once I get out into the greens it will help me understand my clubs as I start. ***Setup*** Setup is easy, however it does not come with a USB-C cable to charge it. However since most phones have been using this cable for a while as well as other devices you should have one. However if you don't make sure you buy one to charge. ***USE**** For one thing this device is light, Cannon says it weighs 150g, and sure feels like it. Easy to carry with you and the nice thing it has Camera and video recording for what you need. Added benift to this, is if you our your partner likes hikes/bird watching this is a perfect thing to carry as you have a monocular that you can use to take bird pictures and other things. Overall I love this little device and am having fun with it.

I picked this up to utilize for golfing, but also when hiking and just outdoors. I can photo wildlife and the distance from them. This is easy to use. I installed a micro SD card right away and then charged it, it uses a USB C cord to charge, and micro sd card.. There is a basic manual with this and one with a bit more detail you can get using a qr code to download the pdf. It does take a minute to set up the time zone and time. You have to toggle up and down one thing at a time, but not bad. Use wise, really easy, laser on or laser off. Laser on gives a straight distance and slope distance. The focus was great right away for me on my first object, but there is a manual adjustment right at the viewfinder ring. There is a zoom function that enlarges the shot a bit. The pictures are clear. Distance so far I've tried things up to 515 yards with no issues as long as the target is clear and my hand is steady. You can go back through and look at saved photos and delete one or all. I only have a 16gb sd card in here and it should be plenty since I won't save photos after being out all day, and if I do, I'll pull them to my computer. Now the photos are a good quality, and I'd expect nothing less. Canon is a brand I have had many printers and cameras over the years from, and they generally are dependable and a good build. This is light and solid built, soft texture to the solid plastic. This does not have a strap for your wrist, I'm a bit surprised. Overall, this seems top notch in working for what it's used for. Where I'm going to deduct a star is the value. This is quite a high price for a limited use item so to speak, and it's in the mid price one. There are mamy on the marked much higher and several much lower. I see some other reputable brands ranging from a ⅓ up in price. A very similar one from a big camera company that has photos and lasers is about ⅔ the cost. I also wish this had a strap and a tripod mount. I have a couple small tripod (desk) that I could use to help steady it when I wanted. That being said. I would recommend this for someone who wants to make sure they have something simple to use and from a reliable brand that hopefully will last.

If we are going to be honest with each other then let me start by saying that this might be the most genius rangefinder that I have ever had the chance to use. When I received this product, I immediately had to take it to the course and test it out. I am an average golfer and also won't be able to use this much until next golf season but I was able to use it and boy was I pleased. One of the greatest issues that I have with most rangefinders is they do not have image stabilizers and like most when you are holding an object upright your hand shakes and it is impossible for me to aim the laser properly at the flag. Because of this I always end up getting the wrong reads. Canon solved this problem with optical image stabilization and it always me to FINALLY aim the laser at the flag stick. Another issue that typically occurs is most rangefinders that I have used only have one zoom focus so you kind of have to use depth perception to add + or - distance to what the laser is showing. This rangerfinder has multiple zoom enhancement options so i can zoom in 6x or 12x and it makes it much more accurate to A. know what the course looks like or the greens and B. get accurate distance markers. The device also has technology that locks onto the pin and will inform you with a vibration that you are locked on. The device also has slope correction technology which is super helpful to identify where you should try to place your ball, but I am not even close to a good enough golfer so this feature is wasted on me for now. However, it is still great to know which way the green is sloping. Arguably the neatest feature is the fact that this rangefinder has an SD card slot and can be used to take photos and videos of the course. I personally love this feature because there have often been times where I would have loved to take a photo on the golf course but never did because my phone is hidden away in a golf bag. Overall, this device is brilliant and a true game changer for golfers. I HIGHLY recommend this product.
