Decent compact camera

We bought this camera to take on camping trips with the scouts, and it was okay, but not what we hoped... Zoom was not as clear as with our other Canon camera, and the Action shots were often still blurry even with a tripod.

Made SLRs obsolete for me

It's incredible that they take SLR quality pictures with as much automation or control as you want, give you 25X zoom, and fit in your pocket. The downside is that if you drop it, you're in for a repair that isn't worth the cost and hassle (that's what happened to my first one). Fortunately, the cost of simply replacing it isn't a tragedy.
