A step down from their previous model.

This seems to be a step DOWN in quality from their previous model. The viewing screen often goes blank, as if it has a loose connection. The camera shut itself off once and would not retract the lens. (I had to take out, and then reinsert, the battery to get it to restart.) Downloading pictures to my computer does not seem possible, unless I buy an extra app. I bought a card reader instead. It does take high quality pictures, and the 65x Zoom lens is nice. Close-ups can be pretty difficult to get in focus.

The camera was light, pretty easy to use but it was missing a few great features. Also there were times when it wouldn’t turn on so I missed a great shot.

Went on a trip and didn't want to carry multiple lenses. This long zoom camera made it possible to travel light. Learning curve is not bad, just takes playing with the various elements.

I have had this camera about a month. I have taken lots of bird photos and photos of my young nephews. I like that I can download photos from my camera to my phone and to my computer wirelessly. I find going to phone is faster and easier than going to my computer, but I just purchased my computer so I learning how it operates as well. Hopefully I will become more skilled in using the camera as I use it more and transfer photos to my computer will be easier and faster as I master both items.

Camera both a screen and a viewer. The viewer work good when the sun is too bright to see the screen. Also the 65x zoom is very helpful.

After taking around 500 shots I’ve decided to return. Having used a film SLR in the past and later digital point and shoot camera and now iPhone XR, this was intended to be a better option for hiking and family photography. The only positive thing I have to say is the zoom lens. But this camera requires a flash to use in lower light settings, and the menu options and controls are very cumbersome to get used to. I have decided to exchange for a the more expensive mirrorless Fuji X-T30. It has mechanical dials on the body reducing the need to scroll through options on the display. I will be giving up the zoom capability unless I purchase a very expensive lens, but assuming the quality of the photos are great at a distant focus I will just crop in post-edit if need be. This is the second bridge camera I have tried and I just don’t think they are worth the money.

I have been waiting for a while and using my Canon SX50 which still takes beautiful pictures. However, my business has been expanding and I wanted to meet that expansion with a new camera. After the first picture you can absolutely tell the difference (the 50HS has 12.1MP and the SX70 has 20.3. I haven't tried the video but cannot wait to try all the different feautures....especially the 65x zoom. Definitely worth the price!

Nice Upgrade from an SX40 HS

I had an SX40 HS for 9 years and loved it. It was time to upgrade and a good review from Consumer Reports on the SX70 HS led me to buy it. It has some very good enhancements that eliminated some issues I had with the SX40 and it has higher resolution in the view finder and takes 20MB photos.

My only problem is it did not come with the cable to load my photos onto my computer. I've bought four cables and none are right. I even tried buying one from Canon and it was wrong. Right now I'm not using it much because I have to switch my SD card from the new camera to my old camera. I think Canon totally screwed up!

This is my favorite camera ever! The optical lenses is amazing and every pic is super clear and precise. I use it for business and sometimes personal use. Just remember to get an SD card, a large one so you are not limited on photo and photo quality. The higher quality, the less pics.

Very easy to use. I bought it to take to Africa. So far all my pictures have been great. I'm using fully auto since I didn't have time to learn all the features. The zoom has been fantastic. The pictures are very clear. I'm extremely happy so far.

I love this camera. It is replacing an older PowerShot that was about 11 years old. I keep it on Auto and the pictures turn out perfect. I also appreciate the eye viewfinder, which is not found on many of the new cameras. This is the perfect camera for me.

I like the camera but it is not good indoors. If it is very dark the screen is pixelated and sometimes you can't even take the picture. The zoom feature is great for taking outdoor photography.
