I needed a new camera for concerts that would not get banned by security. Most shows will not let you in with a DSLR or anything that looks 'professional'. I got this one so it would fly in under the radar but still take acceptable pics. It has great low light sensativaty and the 600mm zoom is great for getting in close.

The camera is very easy to use and does capture very beautiful pictures. Unfortunately the camera can be used only if the battery can be charged and charger works properly. I'm very unsatisfied with the CB-2LY charger that came with this camera and it stopped working the very next month after purchase. Bought this to replace our last 2 Lumix high zoom cameras that were not providing the auto white balance to our satisfaction. That problem is much improved by the SX 700, but another issue arose - very slow focusing in lower light situations when the flash is not a viable option as it is often too bright . Result was LOTS of blurry pictures. In auto mode, this camera does really well in low light situations, BUT you have to wait for the beep and green "now-I-am-focused" screen box when the camera finally focuses. This is the first camera of at least 5 previous digital zooms that has had this delay. The camera shouldn't take the picture until it is focused, IMO. You just have to learn to allow for this delay. If you give the camera to someone else to take your picture, your will have to tell them to press the shutter halfway and wait for the beep before proceeding or you will be out of focus. I called Canon support, but they had no solution to this problem. I am using a 32 GB Class 10 high speed memory card Otherwise controls are pretty intuitive, nice to have explanations of control selections on the screen, startup is quick, and the size makes it easy to slip into a pocket to tote around.

My husband bought me this camera after reading many positive reviews online. My older digital camera was extremely outdated and I was hoping for something with more megapixels to take nice, clear pictures of our kids. When my first pictures were blurry, I figured it was user error but after reading the entire manual and playing around with different settings I'm still unhappy. This is a really poor choice for taking pictures of children. It only takes a decent picture if you spend at least 20 seconds messing with it for EACH picture. You have to hold the shutter down half way and wait for it to SLOWLY focus and refocus again if your subject moves even a tiny bit. My old digital camera with 7 megapixels takes clearer pictures most of the time. CONS: FLASH. Flip-up flash is really annoying and means that the flash is never ready to go when you need it. If you need a flash even in AUTO mode, the flash will not pop up automatically. Totally inconvenient. BLURRY PICTURES. Reason: The camera takes too long to focus. You're completely out of luck if you are trying to take candid shots at a party or of kids playing in the backyard. Even in sports mode or AUTO mode, ANY movement of the subject while the camera is slowly focusing results in a blurry picture. PERFORMS POORLY IN LOW LIGHT. My phone takes better pictures in auto mode in low light. Blurry every time with this camera. This camera might be a good choice for you if you have perfect lighting or you're outdoors and you are taking a picture of a perfectly still adult posing for a picture or of a stationary object. Otherwise. . . try something else or stick with your iphone camera. ha!

This is a pretty good camera, I will say it's probably worth just moving up to a dslr camera if interested but if not I would say this camera works.

Loved camera and picture quality and was at first so happy with it, but, camera came with cheap, flimsy case that Best Buy sold as a bundle. Camera was not mishandled at all but second time out of case, there was already a crack in screen. Beat Buy refused to help since I didn't purchase protection plan. Have had at least 10 cameras over last 30 years and never broke one. I know how to handle a camera, and this is so cheaply made, I feel cheated. Best Buy should not offer inferior cases to protect valuable equipment. Again, I feel cheated.

I needed a camera that took good pictures and was affordable. Turns out this little camera takes fantastic pictures. Verry happy with it.

The camera takes great still photos and its great as a movie camera. Zoom lens makes long shots easy. Would recommend.

Love,love,love the creative shot option. It makes this camera a homerun but I do find that I need a car charger option which this does not have apparently and for me the response time between shots isn't quick enough. I just end up using video and pulling my image later but it isn't as satisfying for me.

Great camera for its size. I bought a refurbished one and it worked like it was brand new. No issues.

How can a digital camera have no date stamp on it. After contacting Canon they confirmed that this digital camera does not come with this function
