My review title isn't meant to disparage this camera. It's a tradeoff. It's not the highest quality or most versatile image around, but everything about the camera is designed to be quick and easy to use. It doesn't take long to get used to the interface and the included kickstand along with the single button located on the front just makes everything pretty simple for taking face cam imagines and videos. Setup is easy enough. The camera doesn't come with a micro SD card so that's up to you to provide if you don't have an extra one laying around. A small 32 GB card would have been nice to included for getting up and running without any hitches. Some of the initial setup just wouldn't complete (like saving wifi information) without an SD card installed so it seems like a pretty big oversight to not included ANY card at all. Even if it was tiny. Otherwise, it's just a matter of following on screen instructions for setting up the camera. Doesn't take long. Settings are fairly basic and don't really overwhelm you. It's most everything you find on standard digital cameras. Shooting mode are limited enough as well to not overwhelm you and I don't think it needs more. I'm not a professional photographer or anything so I don't need most of the tiny details. The screen is also touch screen so you can adjust some settings without pressing any buttons on the camera. This is important when you have the screen flipped towards the front. Usage is dead simple. After you have the settings you like, just hit the red button on front. The kickstand is fantastic for setting the phone up on a flat surface without needing to worry about lugging around a tripod. The screen flips up over the top to face forward which I really like. Gives you a really nice preview really close to the lens so you always know if you're shooting the right thing. Battery life could definitely be better even for such a small and light device. And especially for a device that's made for mobile shooting. It feels like the battery should have been more of a concern. Just keep a charging brick available so you can charge it if you're going to be out for more than a couple hours. One of the reasons I was looking forward to this was the ability to use it as a straight up webcam via USB-C. It "just works" great. Plug it in and it's ready to use in OBS or whatever other software that can take advantage of a webcam. You're also able to connect to the micro HDMI port to show things off to your TV (or connect to an HDMI capture on your computer). The wide angle lens is really nice but I'm a little sad there's no optical zoom available. Picture quality is pretty good. I wouldn't notice tiny things that might be against the picture quality and I don't notice anything really wrong with the picture at all. Well lit is your friend but if you're a content creator already, you're probably already aware of how much proper lighting helps. No complaints on the picture. Overall, for a content creation camera, this is a really good product. I'm sad that any sort of digital zoom or stabilization is going to eat into your resolution but it's not something that really affects my content at all. A starter SD card would have been nice but it's not a deal breaker, just a little odd. Picture quality is good and everything is made to be quick and convenient to use just without all the bells and whistles. The USB webcam feature is going to get a ton of use in live streams. I can recommend this camera if you're looking for something for content creation and it's in your price range.

Great exposure and for the price it’s a good option if you’re just looking for a starter camera to mess around with. However, I would recommend getting a wireless lavalier microphone because the built in microphone is not good in a semi noisy environment.

This item was compact but hard to hold. Video quality was terrible and over saturated. The way that it’s designed makes it hard not to get fingerprints all over the lens which is a pain. Charge doesn’t hold very long.

Its alright. I charged it fully and didn't use it and it ended up being dead when I wanted to use it weeks later. So it don't hold up a charge and I wish I could return it because I would. its light weight and doesn't bring attention is a plus i guess.

Perfect vlogging camera with areas for improvement

Canon Powershot V10 is a vlogging camera that can record videos in 4K resolution and also it can be used as a still camera too. If you are content creator then this camera will be really useful to you. So is this camera only for the content creators? No absolutely not. This is for anyone who uses the cameras like Go pro for adventure minus the waterproofing part. Please don't use this camera like a Go pro as it is not Water proof. But otherwise in terms of portability, sleekness, features, light weight this camera is a winner. Instead of carrying bulky cameras while going on hiking or trekking or picnic, this camera will in fact surprise with the amount of features it brings in to the table. Now lets deep dive into some of the pros and cons of this model. Package contents: 1. Powershot V10 camera 2. USB C to USB C cable 3. Camera strap Micro SD (memory) card is not included Pros: 1. Sleek, compact, lightweight - Being a vlogging camera, the first and foremost ask of the content creators will be about its size and weight. This camera is really small, sleek, compact and lightweight. Its easy to hold it in our hands and it is incredibly easy to shoot the videos or take pictures. I was really surprised by its size but still being powerful as any DSLR camera in the market. Yes you read it correct. Despite being so sleek it has many of the features that any DSLR camera brings in to the table. This camera is about the same size as smart phone in terms of dimensions and weight. Dimension in inches - 3.5*2.5*1.4 inches Weight - 7.4 oz (210 gms or 0.46 lbs) 2. Vertical design with kickstand - The Camera screen has a vertical orientation which makes it comfortable for handheld recording. With the Kickstand it is easy to place the camera any surface thereby it eschews the need for a tripod. The stand helps the camera to lean forward or backward with 30 degree angle. So whether we place the camera in the table to look up to self record or looking down to record the cooking videos or videos of any product or to even hold the camera by the handle upside down the camera reorients the video for us. I mainly use this camera to record the cooking videos for my wife's Youtube channel. I use this camera as a secondary camera to focus the food from the sides. As my primary camera is able to record the video in 4K I wanted another 4K camera that is less expensive and this camera really meets all my needs. 3. Features - a. 4K video recording b. 20 MP BSI 1" CMOS sensor - With the 1" sensor, we no longer need to worry about the low light conditions and it keeps our face really lit. c. High quality Stereo microphones - There are 2 large stereo microphones and a third microphone to help cancel unwanted sounds. d. Fixed 19 mm (35 mm equivalent) wide angle lens - With the wide angle we don't have to stretch our arms when recording ourselves e. Vertical mode - Easy to record videos for Tiktok or Youtube shorts in vertical orientation. f. Auto-focus/Face detection - Built in Auto focus or Face detection is really helpful to keep our face in focus. g. Skin tones/Filters h. Live streaming i. Effective Digital stabilization - 4. One button recording - Record button is easy to identify by touch. It sits directly below the lens which makes it easy to start and stop the clips either from behind the camera when we are shooting other subjects or when recording ourselves. 5. Camera boot time - It hardly even takes 1 second to boot. That is pretty quick. I was impressed at the speed at which the camera jumps into action ready to record instantaneously. I would say this is one of the best features this camera delivers. 6. Plug and play Webcam support - Using the USB C, we can also use this camera as a webcam for the video chat using Zoom or Google Meet or any other apps without the need to install any additional drivers. 7. File transfer using USB C - It is easy to transfer the photos directly by connecting the camera to the computer using the USB C cable instead of looking for an adapter for the memory card. 8. Support for external mic 9. Connectivity - It is possible to connect the camera using micro HDMI port or USB C or Bluetooth or even Wifi and also has a 3.5 mm Microphone port. V10 pairs via Bluetooth and Wifi to the Canon CameraConnect app (Available for Android and iOS) which supports wireless transfers, remote control and even live streaming to Youtube or Facebook or even a custom URL. Wireless file transfer is a little slow but with the USB-C we can transfer the videos faster. Cons: 1. Small LCD screen - 2 inches touchscreen display is sometimes too small to notice and correct some of the minute details in the videos or photos. A 3 inch screen would have been great. 2. Mediocre Internal battery - Since the camera comes with an internal battery it is not replaceable unlike the DSLR cameras. Also the battery life is just average. Shooting 4K videos at 30 fps, the battery lasts between 45 min to an hour maximum. Canon could have slightly increased the battery size to support at least more than an hour of recording. But one good thing is that since the battery is relatively smaller, with a fast charger its possible to charge from empty to full battery in about 30 minutes. 3. No Durability or weather protection - Unlike the Go Pro this camera does not provide any weather or water protection. If anyone wants to use this camera for adventure or water sports this camera may not be the best fit. This is not a big deal for me. 4. No lens cap - Canon should seriously consider providing a Lens cap. I feel if i don't use the stand and try to lie down the camera like a mobile phone, the lens will get dirty or may even get some scratches. Lens cap will hardly cost any money and i am not sure why Canon did not provide the lens cap. Also we cannot face the camera on the other side as we have the touchscreen which cannot be flipped unlike the DSLR cameras and there are chances the screen will get some scratches. 5. Background defocus unavailable - Unlike some competitor vlog cameras, the automatic Background defocus is unavailable in auto mode. This would have been a great addition if Canon had included it.

Canon took a bold step with the PowerShot V10, building it from the ground up, and the results are evident in its clever design and standout features. In this review, we'll delve into the camera's physical attributes, handling, controls, power, connectivity, and overall performance. Design and Build: Canon's strategic decision to create the V10 from scratch pays off in its compact design, measuring around 3.5 by 2.5 by 1.4 inches and weighing 7.4 ounces. The vertical orientation and integrated kickstand enhance its adaptability, providing comfortable handheld recording and eliminating the need for a tripod in tabletop scenarios. The V10 is offered in two styles, with a gray plastic body and a choice between a matte black or silver top plate and I choose the one in matter black color. Lens and Imaging: Equipped with a 1-inch image sensor and a wide 6.6mm F2.8 lens, the V10 delivers impressive image quality. The 2-inch touchscreen, while on the smaller side, supports touch input and flips over the top plate for easy self-monitoring. The 2K 30FPS footage is sharp and clear, complemented by effective digital stabilization. However, the V10 lacks weather protection, making it less suitable for all-weather vlogging compared to alternatives like the GoPro cameras. Controls and Handling: The V10 employs a combination of physical buttons and a touch-based interface for controls. The record button, conveniently placed beneath the lens, allows easy access for starting and stopping recording, even when recording oneself. The camera's auto modes support EV adjustment and in-camera color filters, but some users may find the lack of certain beginner-friendly features, such as a dedicated focus mode for product reviews, a drawback. Power and Connectivity: Powered by a non-removable battery, the V10's battery life is around 50 minutes of 4K/30 recording, which may be limiting for extended use. The USB-C port serves for both power and connectivity, allowing offloading media and connecting the camera to a computer as a webcam. The V10's connectivity options include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, enabling wireless transfers, remote control, and live streaming to various platforms through the Canon CameraConnect app. Pros: Vertical design with an integrated kickstand Crisp, wide-angle lens Effective digital stabilization Cons: Small LCD screen Limited internal battery life Occasional autofocus flutter Overall, the canon powerShot V10 impresses with its innovative design, crisp imaging, and 4K video capabilities. While it may have some limitations, such as a relatively short battery life, the V10 is a compelling choice for vloggers and content creators seeking a compact and user-friendly camera for on-the-go recording.
