This is the battery needed for my Canon RP(used for Canon rebels too). I had to buy 2 backup batteries in order to take a full day of photos(would need more if I bought generic, and the price is similar). Best Buy had the best price I could find. You can buy cheaper 3rd party batteries but they will not work with the EOS M3 battery level reader. Having your battery randomly go dead while shooting is no bueno. Canon OEM batteries are pricy but the only real option at this point.

I'm not pleased that every new Canon camera seems to have a new battery so you can't make use of old ones, or that the M series takes so few pictures on a charge, essentially requiring that you purchase a backup. However, that's the fault of the Canon line, not this battery specifically.
