Didn't seem to add the light I needed for my pictures. Was a bummer!!

My wife seems to love it. For three hundred I hope it does good.

I bought this after speaking with someone in my town who is a professional photographer, and if you are looking for a great first flash to take your pictures to the next level then this is what you should buy. Using an external flash can really help in SO many situations. If you are unsure of what to do with it, you can look up plenty of YouTube videos about it. I also love that with my 60d I can remove the flash from my camera and use my on camera flash as a trigger without messing with the exposure. Light recycle time is pretty good if there are fresh batteries in it. My first set of batteries lasted about 6 months of casual use before the recycle time got too long to handle. My only complaint is that it doesn't move around as much as the 580, but that is why it's more expensive.

It does not offer many features I expected it to have such as a sync connector for an off camera flash, I have not figured out if it works as as a slave if so it is very complicated in figuring it out.

I recently purchased this flash after many months of research in the different external flashes. I'm 29 and an avid photographer (far from a pro), but gadets and electronics are what I'm good at. Let me just tell you, if your not really into your camera enough to take the time to learn about how to use it, then save yourself the $300 and go with the cheaper spedlite 230! I say this because if you don't understand how to use the flash then why buy it? This is a great piece of equipment and adds more than sufficient light for photos up to 40ft away. Great for low light situations and adding that extra brightness for any picture. The best part is that it doesn't add that (flash color) to the photos, it add ls enough light to go PAST the subject to illuminate the entire scene. This flash can also be used as a slave drive, as it comes with a sturdy metal stand attachment and flash is made of good sturdy materials. The only downfall I could find was it uses rechargeable batteries instead of a battery pack like the camer! but doesn't use much power per flash which is nice, no need to constantly recharge. The Speedlight is easy to use and greatly improved the quality of my flash pictures when I needed professional quality. I don't tend to use flash a lot, but after testing the Canon T2I for about a week with just the built-in flash, I went right back to the store to get the Speedlight. The bounce flash mode and the wide angle diffuser work great.

Easy to use for beginner, simple attachment, wonderful lighting

I have enjoyed my Canon Rebel since acquiring it a few years ago, but did not realize how limited my range was with the built in flash. The difference in having a flash attachment for indoor and night time shots is significant enough, the ability to swivel the flash in any direction and bounce light off another surface opens up many more possibilities! An essential accessory for a good DSLR!

Great features to this flash: pull-out deflector, variable angles, and easy connect/lock-on foot. Canon accessories are well-engineered and high quality.

If you want a flash that you will be happy with, this is it. This flash has a very quick recycle time. It has the ability to throw light in many directions, changing the look and feel of your picture. This flash increases your ability to create the effects you want. I thought the flash was a little expensive...but I found that it was worth every penny.

I've had my 40D for several years now and I've really needed a good flash since day one. I FINALLY bit the bullet and bought one and what a difference it makes, especially when shooting indoors and bouncing the flash. The price is steep and you can buy a very nice point-and-shoot with the money you spend on just this flash, but for anyone who cares anything at all about their photos it is absolutely worth the money. The head rotates all over to allow you to bounce the flash pretty much anywhere you want it no matter how you hold the camera and you just cannot beat the power of this flash with a built-in flash. Now that I have one flash, though, I see the need for more.

I just got this flash a few days ago and love it, it is soooo much better than my sunpak flash. I love the fact that it tilts and swivels, the onboard diffuser is pretty nice also. I love the fact that i can take a portrait style shot and still have the flash bounce off the wall or aimed anywhere I want it Another great thing is you can have it off camera and it will still fire . The only thing I think they could improve is the buttons could be a little thicker, I feel like I am pressing so hard on them. You can't go wrong with this flash, I would suggest you look at getting this flash or something newer from the canon speedlite family. Once your read how to use it, it is very easy. You can use it in automatic mode or manual mode. I am giving it a 4 because of the buttons Other than that I would give it a 5.

I am new to DSLRs and to photography in general. I soon noticed proper lighting had become a problem, specially indoors. This speedlite gives you instant bang for the buck. In just a few clicks the results will be inf front of you. For an amateur like me seeing the quality of my photographs increase exponentially with little to no effort makes this purchase justified.

Definitely needed to buy myself a flash for my camera after 2 years of mediocre night/indoor shots due to poor lighting. This help fill in the gaps and helps to light things up better than the built in flash does. If you are looking to improve your photos then this is one of the things you definitely need to have. You don't even need to have a 'need' for it, just using it in addition to pretty good lighting will in most cases enhance the shot more. A learning curve is there and with some time taken to learn how to use this flash and when to use it will definitely improve the quality of your photos.

This is a great flash for anyone looking to get a flash that is better than the built-in flash on your camera. I got mine over a month ago and use it anytime that I can. I have had no problem with it as of now and don't predict to have any problems with it. Another great product from Canon!

Works great for me - much better results than the built in flash on my T2i. I am a beginnner and it was easy to set up and start using immediately. Great to use the bounce feature. I took it to a wedding where a family member is a pro photographer. He was impressed by the flash and showed me some tricks like bringing down the power for less intense lighting. I am not one to want to have to study how to use items like this - just want to plug and play. This flash let me do this and now I am interested in digging deeper into the features. T2i is my first DSLR - really love the Canon product line.

As an amatuer, I'm always looking for ways to improve my photos. I finally decided to spend the money on this flash and I'm convinced it is the single best purchase I've made in addition to the camera itself. The improvements in picture quality, especially when "bounced" off the wall or cieling or both, is amazing. If lighting and composition make a great photo, then this will take you at least half way there. It's easy to learn and use effectively too!

One of the best camera gear I have ever bought. Its a must have for every photographer.... Amazing output with the bounce flash.... Never imagined that it could be used in complete darkness..... It comes with a neat pouch and a stand....
