Ok,being a comic book geek,I am fully away that the original Captain Marvel character now published by DC,was first in Fawcett comics. during the 1960s,Marvel comics took the name over and created an all new character ,a Kree male soldier called Mar-Vell,eventually Carol Danvers inherited his powers and became Ms Marvel and then Captain Marvel. In this movie Marvel, for the first time, did not stick with the source material all the way. In this version of her origin, she doesn't remember her earthly origins and Mar-Vell is a woman (among many other changes ). Somehow it works and works well. Brie Larson is great in the title role and nice to see Samuel l. Jackson as Nick Fury. I'm sure those that are not aware of how much her origin was rewritten will love this movie. As one who did notice,I liked the movie as a whole too.

Marvel rarely disappoints, and Captain Marvel continues that benchmark of entertaining comic films, the first solo female pic for the Marvel universe. It's a great origin story to Captain Marvel, her rise from the Kree into the superhero she becomes. While it does have its flaws, such as being a bit heavy handed with the "girl power" theme (not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just they lay it on really thick and perhaps overdone, like using a sledgehammer to hang a picture frame) and questionable logic in some minor character decisions/plot setups, but overall it's an entertaining flick that fits in perfectly with the rest of the Marvel gang. A fun film for the whole family, with a marvelous story that is a perfect addition to the MCU and a welcome female feature who takes that role fully by the horns.

First let me say if you are an MCU fan and did not enjoy his movie you are likely still hung up on the idea that the MCU is not following your expectations (ie: not close enough to the comic books), you take things way to seriously, or you just don't like the stars public stand on empowerment of women. This movie was fun, funny at times, fast paced, and so much better than I expected from reviews. It does not take itself too seriously but it still had serious undertones and helped clear up questions from other movies to help tie up loose ends before Endgame. Was it the best MCU movie, No. Is it more than worth watching absolutely. If I had a daughter I would happily watch it over and over with her, and I would be proud if she tuned out like Brie Larson and and/or her MCU character(minus the superpowers obviously).

If you already like the movie, this is a great edition to have. It comes with the 4K Ultra HD Blu Ray as well as the standard Blu Ray. The Steelbook design is well done and looks really cool. Captain Marvel is a really entertaining and empowering movie. It has an interesting story and keeps you engaged. Lots of great action as well as humor. As much as I liked the movie as a whole, I would have been happier with a little more backstory to Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. Carol's youth and trials are mostly kept to short montages that I wish would have been more fleshed out. Partially due to this, there is not a whole lot of character development for the main character. That is my only real gripe though. I really enjoyed it. Overall I would definitely recommend!

Having already seen this movie at the theater, I knew what to expect as far as the movie itself. It was a good movie and I enjoyed it. I know a lot of people had differing views on the movie, but I found it nice to get a slightly different slant on the Marvel movies. But I was mostly concerned with how it would look visually on my LG UHD OLED television. And I wasn't disappointed. It looked much better on my television than it did at the theater. The colors were more vivid, and the blanks were inky. Overall, it was visually much better on video than it was at the theater. I'm very glad that I made this purchase. I strongly recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the movie at the theater and happens to have a 4k UHD television.

Captain Marvel is more than just an origin story for Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson, this episode of the Marvel Universe is also an origin story for two of Marvel's more modest, but very important characters, Nick Fury and Agent Colson. Without giving away any key points, the majority of the story takes place in the 1980's. Like Black Widow and Wonder Woman (From the D.C. Universe), Brie Larson plays a strong female character, who can take on any of the male Marvel Heroes. I really enjoy the Marvel films, and Captain Marvel will not disappoint. I like this film a lot, and look forward to her next appearance after The Avenger's End Game, in which she comes to the rescue of the Avengers.

I Was Excited For Captain Marvel Because She Was A New Character Being Introduced In The Already Large MCU & Was Teased Wonderfully At The End Of Infinity War. Overall I Did Enjoy The Film, However, I Think Making The Entire Film About The Lead Not Knowing Who She Is Made Her Seem Devoid Of Real Emotion. She Seemed To Lack The Full Charisma Of Tony Stark As Well As The Full Leadership Of Steve Rogers & I Expected Her To Have A Bit Of Both Considering The Source Material. The 90’s References Almost Beats You Over The Head With Nostalgia & Randomly Dropped POP Music To Keep Reminding You Of What Era You’re In. However, I Did Enjoy The Cast Overall. The FX Were Great. Seeing Captain Marvel In All Her Glory Was Great To See Come To Life. There Are A Few Shining Moments, Laughs As Well As Surprises. If You’re A Fan Of The MCU & Want To See This Characters Origins Before She Moves Forward In The Larger Universe, It’s Definitely Worth The Watch!

Marvel was wanting to go in another direction with their hero stories, and this is the result. Disney took a lot of liberties with the actual character ( Mar-Vel was actually male), and spun the story a different way. The plot was ok, but I have to admit casting Brie Larson in this was a big mistake. Her acting was quite stiff and she never really got into the role. It was a pretty decent movie overall and it set Captain Marvel up for being in the Avengers Endgame, but totally over exaggerate the strength of the character. The film itself is not in the same league as any of the Avengers Movies, Captain America movies, or even Thor Ragnarok, but it was good enough. You won't be disappointed with the Marvel effects, that's for sure.

In a long of line of Marvel movies, that have crossed the $1 billion money mark, Captain Marvel fits right in. The movie fills in some of the missing gaps left by Infinity War and is a great Marvel film as well. I don't want to spoil anything, but the first 10 minutes of the movie is pretty confusing. If you continue to watch it, the film it will make sense a few minutes later. Captain Marvel takes place in 1995 and uses 90s rock music to authenticate the story. It is a fun movie, that is why is it so popular. The sarcasm is quite sharp and witty, and is not over used. Grab Captain Marvel, some popcorn and your favorite chair to enjoy this movie for its plot twists and seamless action scenes.

I'll keep this review short, as if you wanted to see the movie you've probably already seen it, and if you haven't or don't want to nothing I say is going to change that. Is it the best Marvel movie? No. But it's far from the worst. Marvel movies in general are high quality, and this one's definitely up there. The introduction of several new characters and their back stories are always great in the Marvel universe. Brie Larson is great as Captain Marvel. Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, and the rest of the cast all put on great performances as well. The movie has some great comedic bits and twists that I wasn't expecting. It doesn't break the mold, but it's another great and fun entry for the MCU.

I really really liked this movie. There were a few over the top unexplained unnecessary girl against the world moments, which a lot of people had problems with and wrote the movie off. I found the movie to be a great popcorn film and didnt really think on the "issues" thats others had with it what so ever until they were pointed after. I still found it goofy that they are considered issues with people at all considering it is a film about a female super hero. It fits right in with the MU movies in my opinion and Brie Larson was fantastic in it!!

    Beautiful Steelbook

This review is for the steelbook case only, and the quality of the movie will not be reflected at all in this score. This artwork is beautiful, and you can tell someone really thought about what they were doing when designing it. The exterior is a beautiful shot on the front of Captain Marvel in front of 2 opening airplane hangar doors, and the back a distressed shot of Captain Marvel's suit. The interior is where this steel lost a star. It'd a beautiful shot of Carol Danvers climbing into the cockpit of her fighter jet, but true to form for many steelbooks they put the focus of the image behind the disc trays. So what you have when opened and the discs inside is a shot of the front half of an empty cockpit, where you should have a shot of the beautiful Brie Larson. It's still a great addition to any steelbook collection, and a must-have for MCU collectors.

Captain Marvel is a great origin story of the most powerful hero we've met to-date in the Marvel universe. When you boil it down it's really about respect, finding oneself, love, friendship, and family. Carol Danvers' life before she received her powers is just as heroic as the one after. I like her, a lot, and love her relationships with her chosen family, her character, and her perfect chemistry buddy relationship with Nick Fury. Carol is a snarky U.S.A.F. pilot who doesn't take guff from anyone, but she will always try and do the right thing and protect those in need. She finds her true strength in this movie, and it's not the only powers she's granted.

This movie sparked a lot of unwarranted negative press before release, and as one of my most anticipated Marvel films, I was hoping it would be good enough to prove the skeptics wrong. Not only did it do so, it did so with flying colors to rave reviews and one of the biggest box office totals for any superhero film in history. The 4K Blu-ray looks and sounds fantastic. It's unfortunate that the best home video package of this and other Marvel films does not include a 3D Blu-ray like it does in almost every other country/region. The special features are also quite light, but to be fair, Disney Home Video does typically skimp on special features these days, so that's not unexpected. Is this Best Buy-exclusive 4K Blu-ray Steelbook package still worth the price? Absolutely. Am I still going to import the 3D Blu-ray from overseas? Absolutely.

I didn't have the chance to see this film at the cinema, but on Blu-ray it looks great. Captain Marvel is a Kree warrior who has amnesia of another life. Her Earth name is Carol Danvers and is an Air Force test pilot. We get to meet Nick fury as a younger man before the eye patch, and Phil Coulson as a younger SHIELD Agent. Captain Marvel starts off with a conflict with the Skrulls on Earth. They appear to be enemies and invaders at first, but all is not what it seems. Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Annette Benning, Jude Law, Clark Gregg, and Djimon Hounsou all turn in great performances along with the usual Marvel humor and FX.

The first thing I noticed upon opening my Captain Marvel Blu-ray was that the disc was unscratched. I placed the disc in my Blu-ray player, being careful not to touch the surface. It begin to play almost immediately. I watched the entire move, even the post-credit scene. There wasn't a blip, a skip or a pip. It played flawlessly. However, just to be sure, I played all the bonus features and the deleted scenes. Everything worked as expected. Kudos to Best Buy in their careful handling of this almost indestructible piece of technology! It went from the manufacturer to the store to my house fully intact! BTW: It's a great movie!

This episode in the ongoing Marvel Superhero saga has connected more dots that keeps us riveted to the overall story line. As a comic book kid raised in the 50's, I can attest to the strength and necessity of a divertive, non-threatening indulgence that has a high entertainment value. Positive images serve as an inspiration to the imagination that gives us consideration toward what we can do to emulate this behavior in a way we can gauge how, at some point in our lives, we can be a hero to SOMEONE!! That is what allows the comic book genre to thrive as strong as it is right now. We know we need heroes, we just won't admit it.

I’ll admit I don’t know much about Captain Marvel before I saw the film but Carol Denvers is a likable Super heroine. Whose first film is a solid origin story and continues to make the Marvel brand a bigger house name everyday. While I did enjoy the film I thought DC’s Wonderwoman had a better origin story even though it’s very similar to Captain America 1st Avenger film. Captain Marvel is set in the mid 90’s which is interesting in its own right. Carol is on a mission in space things go sideways and she ends up on earth where she meets a young Nick Fury and a budding SHEILD agency not to mention a young Phil Coulson. The rest of films builds up on the Skrulls a race of shape-Shifting aliens making them out to be bad. But come to find out their not really bad the members of Star Force are the real bad guys.

Overall good origin film, but Marvel has done better. The 90s nostalgia is interesting as not many films are going there yet. The plot regarding the Skrulls was a bit different, and it was nice seeing a young Nick Fury. However, I feel like this outing for Captain Marvel was a bit underwhelming. We’ve gotten to see great heroines with Black Widow, Okoye and Shuri, and Valkyrie, and I was hoping for another super heroine like them, but it just felt like Carol never took anything seriously, and was flippant about everything. Maria Rambeau was at times more compelling because of how seriously she took her responsibilities towards the end of the film. But, I know that plenty of people will prefer the fun-loving Captain Marvel, and I certainly don’t want to detract. I just feel it wasn’t quite there for me personally.

"You know anything about a lady blowing up a Blockbuster? Witnesses say she was dressed for laser tag." The MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) will soon complete its third phaseâ"the first three phases are collectively known as The Infinity Saga. April 26th marks the release of Avengers: Endgame a film that will wrap up a 21-film story arc that has spanned 11 years (or almost 80 years in the universe itself). The majority of these films (outside of the first Captain America film - 1942) take place relatively recently, starting with Iron Man (which takes place in 2008 or 2011 depending on who you ask). However, Captain Marvel bucks this trend and takes us back to the mid-90's. The movie travels back in time to a period of grunge music, neon clothes, fanny packs, Blockbuster video, and dial-up internet. The world was a different place and Captain Marvel nails the nostalgia factor perfectly. The film is far from perfect, but still does enough to be a solid entry, which has already grossed close to the billion dollar mark. The most interesting thing from a story standpoint is that it's told in a reverse order to some extent. The story unfolds as it goes forward. Oscar winning actress Brie Larson (Room) plays the title character to the best of her abilities; however, she seems to be held back by directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. While not first time directors, they don't have much of a track record outside of TV shows and some films even I've never heard of. I don't think that they were able to bring out the best in a film that was awkwardly shoved into this universe (serving as both a prequel and a sequel) before the release of arguably the biggest cinematic event ever... That's not to say that the film is without its merits; the story itself had several fun twists and turns. The de-aging of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) worked seamlessly. The effects (as always) were some of the best in the business, and of course Marvel's trademark comedy was able to break up any serious moments within minutes. I do believe that we will see a different Captain Marvel when Endgame comes out (directed by Anthony and Joe Russo). We'll see a much better directed version of her and she will shine even in limited screen time. I'm curious to see where she goes in the "future." After Endgame, the MCU will be different (and yet the same). Some have projected that Captain Marvel will be the new key that holds the universe together (similar to what Iron Man was for the first three phases). There have been rumors of a female-only team with the likes of Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), or others joing together for their own film as well. Will she get another solo film? Will it take place in the 90's again? Or in the present day? So many unanswered questions... As an interesting side note, Captain Marvel was originally a hero first created for Fawcett Comics. DC comics then sued them because of the similarity to Superman. DC gained the rights eventually, until Marvel sued DC because of the name "Captain Marvel." DC then changed the name to SHAZAM and that's where we stand now. That's why there is a Shazam movie coming out within a month of this one. (Comic history can be confusing!)
