I was a big fan of Captain Marvel--saw it twice in theaters and really enjoyed it. It's not the best Marvel movie, but it's another worthy addition to the pantheon of films and is far more interesting than many of the 'origin' films. It's also a pretty great origin film for Nick Fury as well. There are some fun (if too short) extras on here--I always like the 'gag' reels and I'm glad Marvel includes them, I just wish they were longer. Also, the short on "Goose" is pretty hilarious as well. The steelbook is well made (as all the MCU steelbooks have been)--highly recommended for any steelbook or MCU collector!

Don't pay any attention to the fanboys - this is a worthy entry in the MCU. Normally not a big fan of origin movies but this one handled that well. The main story has enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. Seeing Agent Colson back in a MCU movie was great. Interesting turn on the early days of Nick Fury. And I like Brie Larson as Carol Danvers. As an Air Force pilot, she should be a strong and cocky personality. At least we expect that of male pilots. But the fanboys have never really accepted anyone not a white male lead character. Black Panther was similarly attacked by those guys, most of whom probably still live in their parents' basement. But for this 60+ year old white male and big MCU fan, this movie does not take a back seat to the rest of the entries.

Bought this because I'm a big Marvel fan and of course the cinematic universe. I also loves Steelbooks, and I try purchasing them first especially with Marvel Studios films. Hoping the first 3 Iron Man movies, Thor 1, get Steelbook releases because I believe that's all I currently need as Steelbooks. I don't have a 4K tv or player, mostly bought it for the Steelbook, but it also includes the regular Blu-ray and of course the digital copy which I redeem too. I currently have over 800 movies digitally! Love the artwork, both front, back, inside too. Next will be Endgame, followed by Far From Home!

Overall, Captain Marvel is a perfectly entertaining movie, but is ultimately pretty forgettable and average with a few standout elements. The actors all do their best to sell their roles - Brie Larson is effortlessly fun and charming as Carol Danvers although sometimes her dramatic moments stumble, but I feel like that could also be the direction. Samuel L Jackson finally gets to inject his personality and energy into his Nick Fury character, normally relegated to being the straight-faced exposition-spouter for the series, but here he gets more to do and clearly seems to be having fun, and he and Larson share great chemistry in a fun Buddy Cop Movie way. The stand out is Ben Mendelsohn as Skrull leader Talos - he also clearly is having a blast here, making his character layered and often hilarious. The inclusion of the Skrulls is a bit of a letdown, however - it feels like the big introduction of the Marvel Universe’s greatest villains falls flat, for one reason I can’t mention without spoiling a plot point. Ultimately it feels like the movie was rushed out in order to squeeze Captain Marvel into Avengers: Endgame, and it suffers a bit because of it. The biggest issue is that Danvers is so incredibly powerful, so it will be interesting to see how they balance that in her future appearances.

Good Movie Leading Up to Avengers: Endgame

Captain Marvel is not the typical fun movie that a Marvel Comics fan has enjoyed, such as Ant-Man, or Ant-Man and the Wasp, or even Spider-Man: Homecoming. Nonetheless, even with its backstory from three decades ago, it manages to partially close a temporal gap between Avengers: Infinity War and the long-awaited Avengers: Endgame. There are some twists and turns, even surprises, as the screenwriters took liberties with the title character and foes from the C.M. and Fantastic Four comic books. You get to see the Skrulls in a whole new light, for instance. A Captain Marvel purist might have doubts about the execution of the storyline, especially when tying in Nick Fury and Shield. But as a lead-in to the ultimate Avengers: Endgame, it is a most suitable segue.

“Captain Marvel” establishes how she came to be a superhero, as she progresses through the years, and also interesting bits about early “Fury”. I really like the puzzle about her character’s origins, earth or alien, and her powers. If you’ve seen (who hasn’t) the images of her with glowing eyes, the result is not unexpected. Day of issue buy, mine is 4K Blu-Ray; it looks and sounds great. The selection of popular songs in the soundtrack are interesting, in tune with the time she “arrived” on earth. The action is somewhat end-loaded, but I loved it all. I think I’ll go watch it again.

Many complained about the Captain Marvel movie because of Brie Larson's feminist comments however who cares what her views are...this is a very entertaining movie!!! great action, plot twists and Captain Marvel's discovery of her true potential...not to mention a young Fury, Coulson and the continuing story of what happened to the Tesseract between Howard Stark finding it in the ice and it's use by Loki in the first Avengers movie. Great special effects and visuals throughout the movie not to mention one of the MCU's favorite villains...Ronan the Accuser. LOVED IT and you will too.

Another origin movie from Marvel. Captain Marvel promises to take us out into the far reaches of outer space and gives some background to the Kree, Skrull war. (spoiler alert) The Skrulls are portrayed as victims as opposed to villains. If you grew up reading the comics you'll find this interesting, they make it believable though. When Carol Danvers finally finds herself and discovers the source of her powers its Katy bar the door! She kicks some serious butt! Can't wait to see where they take this. She truly is one of the most powerful characters in superhero movies!

From Carol Danvers the Air Force pilot to a member of the Kree Starforce, the movie is the origin story of Captain Marvel. The movie differs in the fact it starts off with Danvers already having her powers and showing flashbacks to how she got them. From Nick Fury as a regular SHIELD agent to Agent Coulson as a SHIELD rookie to Project Pegasus (later appearing in the first Avengers movie), Marvel does another great job interweaving characters and places together to interconnect the MCU movies, and Captain Marvel is no exception. Goose absolutely steals the show, too.

This is a good origin movie for the new MCU character, Captain Marvel, who actually is one of the earliest super heroes, like Captain America. She hasn't appeared until now in the MCU stories, because she's been busy dealing with an alien war far, far away. The movie also includes some of Nick Fury's early history prior to assembling the Avengers. This story fits in well with the other MCU movies, and is well done. Now that Iron Man's group of Avengers is about done, I'm sure we will be seeing more of Captain Marvel as the MCU stories continue to be told.

I love the MCU and have seen every film numerous times including this one. I really enjoyed Captain Marvel and thought it was an average Marvel flick, but did not wow me like the first Avengers or Infinity War/Endgame. I liked the 90's nostalgia trip and most of the characters but feel Brie Larson was not a good choice for this role. She came off as flat and uninteresting. Definitely was not inspiring like Wonder Woman was, but overall worth adding to the library if you are a collector.

I loved this movie but it seemed weird to have this character retroconned in MCU. For me created some questions that seemed to be ignored. The story was great and the introduction of a female lead seemed to have taken too long. Great acting and a must have for marvel fans. The steelbooks at Best Buy are must haves but wish they would not limit purchases. When you are buying for big family of marvel fanatics as a gift it creates issues but these steel cases are awesome. the art is great and the packaging enhances the movie for the comic book fan.

First off, if you're looking at the steel book edition, I assume you're considering the packaging upgrade rather than the movie itself. If you liked the movie and you're on the fence regarding the steelbook - it's a great way to add to your collection. While "steel" it is not, the box is well-made, is not as obnoxious as some packages, and does a nice job displaying some of the key elements that make this a great movie. Otherwise, packaging is all it is. If you didn't like the movie before, the cover and inner lining probably won't change that.

To be fair, I am far more invested in the Ms. Marvel character of Kamal Khan, but only because Carol Danvers was mainly active before I really got into comics, so I'm not as familiar. I do however, know enough about Captain Marvel to love this movie, and appreciate what it has brought to the MCU. Hopefully, with the overwhelming success of both Captain Marvel, and Black Panther, the MCU, and Hollywood will finally get the idea that not only will heroic women, and minority roles be well received, the audience quite frankly demands them.

Forget the haters and make up your own mind. Don't let the vocal internet minority detract from another really fun installment in the MCU. If your a fan of other Marvel movies (made by Marvel studios and not the subpar releases from Sony or Fox) you have a good idea what your in for. Some excellent action sequences, funny dialogue and humor mixed in and some occasional touching drama. Marvel have mastered their formula without it feeling stale. Yes there is some internet babies who want to bash this movie, forget all that and give it a shot!

You can spend 20 bucks for Amazon or Apple digital copy which only works on their site alone or you can get Blu-ray with bonus footage and the digital code copy which works on Movies Anywhere plus Apple and Amazon as well. If you like the movie, want potential repeat viewings on any device or screen then get it before Disney takes it out of production on other sites and puts it just on Disney+ which requires a monthly subscription

While I'm not a huge fan of Marvel's decision to get rid of their Bluray/DVD combos, I think the 4K/Bluray package is the best next thing! Pre-ordered this film to continue my Marvel movie collection and this does not disappoint! I enjoyed the film in the theater and my wife was able to view it at high resolution, in the comfort of our own home! I was impressed with the condition of the packaging, as when you order from other online retailers, you don't always receive the greatest care for your item's packaging! Great job and great movie!

An Important Step, an Average Movie

Captain Marvel, notable for being the first female-led Marvel Cinematic Universe film after twenty-one movies, is a fun and sometimes unique take on the super hero origin story that unfortunately never finds its groove enough to the point it's somewhat fearful the character won’t be able to get her groove back when it comes time for Avengers: Endgame. For all intents and purposes, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s (Half Nelson, Mississippi Grind) MCU debut is your boilerplate Marvel origins story which, by virtue of where we’re now at in this universe, makes it feel small in comparison to even the most recent additions. Falling somewhere in between the muddled middle of Doctor Strange and Black Panther, Brie Larson's Carol Danvers isn't a riff on an origin story we've seen before, but neither does it have the added elements of magic as in Strange or the advantage of introducing us to a new world a la Panther. In a Phase Three world, a mostly Earth-set origin story was going to have to give us a little something more than also doubling as the origin story for Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury or-at least-it was going to need to find a really cool, really fresh way to convey that story. For example, in the opening twenty or so minutes of Captain Marvel, we are treated to what is essentially a Star Wars or Star Trek-like space opera with the full-on introductions of the Kree and Skrull races we've heard whisperings of for years as well as to the Kree home planet and their military force for which Danvers has been trained by her mentor, Yon-Rogg (Jude Law). Such introductions lend the film something of a Guardians of the Galaxy-vibe, but the tone is different enough that this could simply be yet another facet of the MCU we haven't yet seen. Were Boden and Fleck, who also wrote the script alongside Geneva Robertson-Dworet (2018's Tomb Raider), to harness the momentum of this initial set-up and action sequence, executing it in the fashion of a genre flick of this type that was released in the decade their film is set, the film might have proven to be a more unique and odd side venture for the MCU, but unlike the flavor Taika Waititi brought to Thor: Ragnarok or the subversiveness James Gunn infused his GotG films with, Captain Marvel ends up being a perfectly serviceable, but highly average entry in the ever-expanding MCU; a movie that feels more like the pilot of a nineties spin-off series that never hits the same strides as the series that inspired it rather than the explosive debut it could seemingly have so easily been.

This movie got a lot of bad press prior to it's theatrical release for being overly feminist. I tried my best to not let that skew my opinion going into it as I have very high standards for products the MCU puts out. This was a quality flick and nowhere near what all the negative critics said it would be from a feminist standpoint. Larson may be unjustly feminist for some in real life but she does a great job playing Cpt. Marvel. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this one and are happy to add the Steelbook to our collection.
