This movie got a lot of bad press prior to it's theatrical release for being overly feminist. I tried my best to not let that skew my opinion going into it as I have very high standards for products the MCU puts out. This was a quality flick and nowhere near what all the negative critics said it would be from a feminist standpoint. Larson may be unjustly feminist for some in real life but she does a great job playing Cpt. Marvel. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this one and are happy to add the Steelbook to our collection.

For the Bluray itself, it was a good one. Good picture and sound quality on it. The bonus features, though not as long as I hope, we're nice to watch. The intro that is included is a nice one and I like how Marvel is doing that more. Having the directors introduce the film as a feature. The movie itself is a good addition to the mcu. Not in the, top 10 but probably the top 15 or 18. It's better than the MCU worst but it's not as good as some of it greats. Side characters were fun to watch just thought Carol herself needed some work. Hopefully in the sequel they will be able to expand on her because I think if done right she can be a better addition to the MCU than she already is.

    Great Steel Book Ok Movie

The steel book itself is wonderful! Great artwork and a good thicker quality and heft to the materials used to make the casing, unlike the flimsy almost paper thin steel book material used for movies like Bumblebee. This is a worthy addition to the steel book collection. As to the movie, it's not great but it isn't bad either. Takes place during the 90's for a great nostalgic effect. It is part of the marvel Universe leading into Avengers Endgame, so take it for what it is and you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend!

Another Marvel super herp movie destined to be a classic. This origin story of how Air Force pilot Carol Danvers is empowered to become Captain Marvel, after discovering her identity while under alien (Kree) influence and determining who is actually the good guys and the bad guys. During the process she is recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D., and makes her mark as a true super-hero. She seems to be equal in power to DC's Superman and as awesome as D.C.'s Wonder Woman. Marvel does it again. She her also in the Avengers: End Game.

    Another hit from the MCU!

The MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) is becoming like the "Beatles of Comic Book Film Studios" as they churn out yet another hit with "Captain Marvel". It is the story of former US Air Force Pilot Carol Danvers, who in an accident involving cosmic forces, eventually becomes Capt. Marvel... one of the most powerful super heroes in the Marvel Universe. I liked that she has a tendency to hit first and ask questions later. The movie takes place in the 1990's and so have fun references from that era. I enjoyed this film.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was a nice departure from the majority of the MCU being set in the present day, as it takes place in the mid 90s. I liked all of the nods made to that time period having grown up mostly in that decade. There were those giving it negative reviews on Rotten Tomatoes before the movie even came out, but I believe those were prominently from people who did not like the idea of a female lead in a superhero movie. Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel serves as a strong role model for girls everywhere.

    Solid Origin Film

Captain Marvel is a great origin story of the most powerful hero we've met to-date in the Marvel universe. When you boil it down it's really about respect, finding oneself, love, friendship, and family. Carol Danvers' life before she received her powers is just as heroic as the one after. I like her, a lot, and love her relationships with her chosen family, her character, and her perfect chemistry buddy relationship with Nick Fury. Carol is a snarky U.S.A.F. pilot who doesn't take guff from anyone, but she will always try and do the right thing and protect those in need. She finds her true strength in this movie, and it's not the only powers she's granted.

If you're buying this, you're likely satisfied at best with the movie, which means that you know what you're getting into: a fairly standard origin story that feels a little dated in terms of how the MCU has improved on itself, but nothing terrible. A "bad" MCU film is still typically at worst a decent movie. The steelbook continues the WWA support of BBY's covers, and this one is fun. I needed to touch up the paint on my second copy (the first being dented and scratched beneath the J-Card) but it's otherwise solid. A nice gloss finish seals the whole thing and generally fits in with whichever MCU steels you might display, unlike say, the Ragnarok US release.

I wasn’t terribly fond of this movie after seeing it in theaters. However, the more I’ve viewed it, the more it’s grown on me. Especially with this being the movie right before the release of “Avengers: Endgame”. Marvel also does a great job with their soundtracks as well (see Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2, Thor Ragnarok for example). Captain Marvel is no exception to the previous statement. The one thing I would like to suggest is that when the Steelbook version of a movie is preordered, the digital code for redemption should be sent electronically when the digital version of the movie is released. (Typically 2 weeks before the 4K/blu-ray is released).

I happened to read some Captain Marvel comics and was a fan of Carol Danvers. So when the movie came out I was totally ready. Watched in the theater and picked up the bluray at Best Buy. They have the premier selection of movies at my Best Buy. Lol so you know I bought some other titles as well. I know this movie took some flak for it's woman empowerment. Hell I'm 60 and i think it's refreshing not to see a bunch of wilting lilies. The bluray looks and sounds excellent I'm sure it will get multiple watches.

Brie Larson did a very good job acting as Captain Samuel L. Jackson playing Nick Fury again this time a younger version of himself. The story starts off a bit weird, but progresses nicely over time. The Skrulls who we think are the bad guys in this movies turn out to be misunderstood race of beings until Captain Marvel finds out the truth about them as well as herself. The special effects are well done. The acting is ok but could have been better overall. The story line could have gone deeper into the Skrulls,as well as Captain Marvel herself. Over all I give the movie 3.6 stars. The cuts scene taking place before Endgame was a tease at best.

A blast from the past? Blockbuster days, so miss them sometimes. Go out, grab a movie or two... dinner, date maybe or just friends hanging out. So old.... A very enjoyable movie. No big need for a lot of Marvel history to enjoy. A digitally younger Samuel L Jackson... two eyes, no batch. Like many movies a little more time on story would have been nice. The flashbacks do some of that work here. Definitely two thumbs up!!! I had some rewards certificates so I splurged on the pretty steelbook 4k version.

Regardless of an actor's personal comments or political opinions this is a good movie. Watch it for what it is, an enjoyable action / comic book hero film. The cast all do a fine job in selling each role. The visuals are very nice. Scenes in space really pop. The de-aging(?) effects looked believable through out. Fits into the overall MCU nicely with out requiring back stories from the previous 21 films. Stands on it's on. Soundtrack is good, great if you're into 90s music. Package art is well done.

My husband has turned me into a comic book nerd and turned me on to both Marvel and DC movies. We saw Captain Marvel in the theatre on opening night and loved. Before we even left the theatre we agreed that we would definitely buy this movie when it came out. I originally ordered from Amazon, but they couldn’t deliver it until a week after it came out. Thankfully, Best Buy was there to save the day. I ordered it the night before it was released on blu ray and picked it up the next morning.

A Good Origin Story For Captain Marvel

It was a good origin story about Captain Marvel. It shows how your view of life is determined by your environment and that the reality of life can be jarring when the truth is exposed. Her Kree upbringing taught her to hate the Skrulls until the truth was revealed to her. This was an interesting twist and changed the entire tone of the story line of the film. The digital de-aging of NIck Fury and Colson were very well done. The only problem that I had with this movie is that I feel that it should have been released a few months earlier in the theaters. I came out so close to the release of Avengers Endgame that I think it hurt the movie.

Had to get the steelbook 4k movie. I am passionate about sound and video. My system is 5.2.4 Dolby Atmos and DTS-X. This movie, and other Atmos movies are amazing. No soundbars or speakers bouncing off the ceiling. Atmos speakers are installed in the ceiling as they should be for object based sound. Now back to the movie. This is about as good as it gets for a Marvel movie. Right up there with Guardians, Avengers and other Marvel films. Love it....Bring on Endgame!! Love my Best Buy store....

As a steelbook collector, I am pretty satisfied with the design. It has the right amount of visual detail and I appreciate not having the title included on the cover. Regarding the film itself, Marvel Studios has done another fantastic job. In my opinion, it isn't easy to tell an origin story adequately on screen, but this one was done quite well. It didn't feel rushed or dragged out and as usual, there was a good amount of humor. Like most of the other films, it is worth a few re-watches.

I watched this movie twice in theater. Marvel's been killing it for over a decade now. The chemistry between Carol Danvers and Nick Fury was great. Space scenes awesome. Best part was of course the cat. The 90's nostalgia was real. Blockbuster, Radio Shack, Nirvana, all good stuff. The steelbook itself is quality as always, though with the one downside that I can't slip my movie ticket stubs into the plastic like I do on regular cases. Still prefer the shiny case on the shelf, looks nice.

This movie has many interesting aspects, due to the exceptional writers, and a competent cast. Went a little, "overboard" trying to be too cute. Plays well into the MCU timeline. Thank Nichelle Nichols, (Lt. Uhura- Star Trek) for validity of female pilots in the space program. She was tasked with recruiting (helping to) females and minorities. This movie pays tribute to the strength and determination of those who had chosen a path not stereotypical to females, especially in those days...
