    So far I really like

These speakers have plenty of power. I feel they will take a little time to break in the drivers, they start to distort if you turn it up to loud. I used a piece of 12 gauge speaker wire to attach the one speaker to the other. Throw away the piece that came with the set. It seems to build resistence and probably why the amplifier gets hotter than it should. In my opinion.

So bought these yesterday. I use them in a 2,000 seat auditorium. No, I am not using them to pump sound to the auditorium, I have them set up with the lighting console for streaming music when coordinating the programming of moving light fixtures. I mention the size of the auditorium, because no matter where you are in the auditorium, on the floor, or in the catwalks, you can hear these suckers. Not only that, but the sound is clear. They have great bass, which is brought on by them being powered speakers, no woofer needed. Now when I say you can hear them everywhere they don't rock the building, they just push good, clean, sound. Every product has at least one Con. In this case I would say it is that there is no EQ control on these speakers. For what I am using them for this is not an issue at all, and for $99 you can quickly get over it. However, in all fairness this would be the downside, the upsides being power, sound quality, professional look, and durability.

    Just what I wanted

After almost buying a pair of Logitech speakers I read the reviews on these so I decided to try them. I read every review I could find on the web and they were right. You won't find a better buy for your buck. The workmanship on these speakers is fantastic. I did not expect to get a high end speaker for under $100.00 but I got every cent out of these Cerwin Vega's. They work and look great in my office!

I originally was going to buy the Bose speakers but I heard they weren't very loud so I went with the Cerwin Vega Speakers and I am not sorry I did. These speakers are wonderful. My daughter and I just love them. Thanks Best Buy

    Outstanding Speakers

These speakers will move you and shake you. I have an inexpensive Asus PCI sound card in my machine and the music these speakers produce is a joy to hear. I have the PC volume set at 25% and I have yet to turn the volume knob on the left speaker past the 10 o'clock position, even when sitting across the room. As several reviewers suggested I replaced the speaker wire with 12 gauge wire but the heat build up on the left speaker is not reduced to any great extent. The power and speaker cables are much longer than those provided with my previous Logitech and Philips speaker sets. I mailed the enclosed registration card and it was returned "unable to deliver as addressed". Happily, the Cerwin-Vega web site did accept the registration. I got this set of speakers at Best Buy on sale for $85, they are worth every penny and more.

I bought these speakers to use with my PC or laptop. Once plugged in, they sounded awesome! Nice sound for such small speakers. Thumbs up from me...

These speakers are the best quality for the money I could find. They have wood speaker boxes, like nice stereo speakers. The sound is full and not tinny.

I am enjoying my CV speakers for my laptop. I cannot complain for the price I paid ($20,) and I would definitely recommend them to others for a basic sound. I am a songwriter, and my only disappointment is the fact that playing high fidelity sound through them leaves a little to be desired. I would have gladly paid more to get that from Cerwin-Vega, but all in all, I am still quite happy that I found them at Best Buy.

    Bass Distortion is Dealbreaker

I'm looking for speakers for my computer without breaking the bank or taking up too much space. The lack of bass and low end distortion is not going to work. I played some good testing songs was really impressed with William Tell Overture and Eagles - Hotel California live. Bass response doesn't come until about 100 Hz, but quality doesn't come until about 200 Hz. Turn the volume past 30-40% and these frequencies cause all kinds of distortion. Perhaps if I added a corssover and sub I could have my cake and eat it too. Looks like I should just swing for something better. I'm looking at KRK Rokits.

Construction of speakers was solid. They play better at higher volumes. If you introduce an equilizer you can improve the sound. Certain middle ranges were missing and I found myself fiddling with the equalizer for different songs. In the end, they were not worth the $100 price tag Sound board was an Audigy 2

I've used quite a few different types of computer speakers in my years and I have to say that I am completely surprised with the results of these. * The sound quality is muddy when using with multiple devices (laptop, PC, MP3 player). * No independent bass control, -and- the only control to switch it on or off is on the back of the speaker * Playback through the headphone port on the front of the speaker is actually worsened than when played directly from the device. Cerwin-Vega has been a huge player in the audio field for years, and for them to produce an item that doesn't meet up to what their standards are is incredibly disappointing. I returned them to the store within 3 hours of purchasing them and went with Logitech instead. Incredible difference. I would urge anyone to reconsider buying these and go with Logitech or even a cheap shelf-stereo with a line input. With these, you are completely paying for the Cerwin-Vega name.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to like these speakers. They audio that they make is muddy and muffled. I'm guessing that if you RTA'd these that the frequency response would look like the golden arches. The boost switch just makes them boomy. With the boost switch off, plugging the ports with wash cloths helped a little. If you EQ'd the snot out of these and removed the shroud from the tweeter, you might be able to make them sound decent. But by that time I'll have enough money saved to buy the Corsair SP2500 speakers. I'm dissapointed at PC Per's review. These speakers do not sound good. For now, I'm returning these and putting my Sennheiser HD600 headphones back on.

Purchased these yesterday to enhance television audio. Not much better than the built-in ones that came with the TV. Muddy with NO bass. Has a hum when no audio going through. Bose Companion 2 are a much better deal for the same (or less) price!

Cerwin-Vega, is using their name as a lure, to charge a high price for a very low end speaker. If you want Quality don't buy these. If you want to make a statement (I Have Cerwin-Vega's) then they are just right for you!
