The movie in one word is... "Sad." (But in a good way.) The storyline was not what I was expecting, but it's an excellent movie. The computer effects are so well done you don't notice them, and that is very high praise. The story - the actual story - is actually about an innocent boy (the robot) being adopted by dysfunctional parents, and trying to find his way in a cruel and confusing world. Surprisingly touching movie. Some good laughs, some good action, but a much more touching movie than you would think.

This was better than I expected. Weird seeing Hugh Jackman as a villain and not even getting top billing on the Best Buy site. I did feel for the Robot Chappie, so that worked.and the transition from bad guy to good guy was a little rough. All in all it was worth a watch.

This is one of those movies that you hear so much about that you don't know what to expect. The 1st time I watched it I thought I would hate it because of all the negative things I heard about it but I LOVED it. There is so much more to the story and I just had to buy it. Finding out more about Die Antwoord helped a lot also because it told me there story and more about South Africa. This is one movie that I can watch over and over again and I do hope there will be a sequel.

I was looking forward to watching this movie because of the concept being explored. A.I., intelligent AI to be exact. they approached in an interesting way. If you have seen District 9 you will this has the same feel but not too documnetary-ish. The guy in District 9 who becomes a Prawn serves as the voice of Chappie, but i would have liked if the language was toned down a bit. made enjoying this movie a bit off. The whole movie could have done a better of job of utilizing the concept of Artificial Intelligence when portraying the good versus evil aspect in the movie ie:. Man controlled robots and actually thinking humanoid robots. Kinda felt like they were trying to hard and fell short.

Neil Blomkamp delivers again with another original and unique sci/fi yarn.. If your a fan of D9 and Elysium them I cant recommend this enough.. Def worth a watch with interesting visuals, great action and pace...

This movie didn't receive a lot of publicity, but it was certainly worth a look. Purchased on impulse and glad I did. Decent plot and a cool ending. It also had decent humor. 3.5 stars.

set in the distant future a robot that will steal your heart...so unexpectedly...from maker into the made...ultra violent so you may want to give some thought as to whether you want a younger viewer to see this movie...a grown up version of "short circuit" if you're old enough to remember that movie

If your a fan of District 9 and Elysium I think this movie will be up your alley, good story filled with action, bit of drama and Hugh !!

This is a great movie with a fast plot and continuous action. I have purchased about 10 4K movies and this movie has the best picture quality of all my 4K discs. It's true 4K, filmed and mastered fully in 4K and it shows. Highly recommended!

I'm a Sigourney Weaver freak so...Even though she played a minor role it was still quite entertaining.

This movie is a reminder that we have a long way to go as a species.

I bought this movie because it reminded me of Animation but in the form live action. Love the director and the actor that played Chappie. Great to see them working together again.

Always when I go to best buy it browse for movies to watch. My friends saw it back when it was in theaters and recommendEd watching it. As I've been busy lately I haven't had the time to watch it yet, but I am looking forward to watching it this upcoming weekend!

This movie made u connect with the what if's in this future. Acting was very good, and threw a couple curve balls along the way. This movie has a little of everything!!'

This movie isn't perfect but I found it very enjoyable. Watch this instead of that recent Robocop remake.

It had a lot of undesirable plot and character sequences where it didn't make any sense

The movie "Chappie" deserves a R rating as it's full of filthy language and degrading. It has no redeeming value and is apparently made to the degraded social values of some of the young people today. People are killed left and right. Apparently, the movie was filmed in South Africa and the English language is butchered so badly in the movie that captioning has to be used for some of the dialog. I thought the inventor of the artificial intelligence being might be able to make a difference in the movie, but his actions toward the bad guys were unbelievable. Horrible horrific movie and not recommended for a mature and responsible audience. I rated it one star, but it doesn't even deserve that.
