not a fan of air frying due to my experience
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited to try air frying and purchased this product. it was not what I expected. Each time we use it, it smells like plastic burning or other non-pleasant odor. Essentially, it is a blow-dryer and you are blow-drying your food to cook it.

I Am Now Hooked!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like many, I have been hearing about air fryers for quite a while. I have been slow to get one simply because I didn't know enough about them to be able to consider them more than a passing fad. But then I decided to just go for it and try it out. I got the Chefman Turbo-Fry Touch Air Fryer, 4.5 quart. I was going to use it the very day I got it, but a transformer blew out right down the road and the power was out until late, So the next day came my first experience. I decided to start off with chunks of a chuck pot roast. I cubed them up into about an inch and a half by an inch and a half, placed them in a plastic bag with a bit of olive oil, removed them and seasoned with salt and pepper. Not really knowing how long to cook them, I decided on 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Half-way through the "Shake" alarm went off, so I shook the contents and placed the basket back in and finished cooking. To be honest, when I pulled the basket out and saw the cubed chunks of pot roast, I couldn't wait to try one out...they looked absolutely delicious. The edges were a bit crisp, and the oil left a nice "glaze" on them. I was not disappointed...they were cooked to almost perfection. The next batch I cooked for two minutes less, and these turned out to be truly perfect and delicious. Then next experiment was bacon. I looked up online how other people cooked bacon in an air fryer, and I took the most common approach...10 minutes at 400 degrees. There were one or two pieces that needed perhaps a bit more cooking for my preference (I like my bacon a bit crunchy). So the next batch I set for 12 minutes. Again, I was not disappointed. This was some of the best cooked bacon I have ever done! I then tried chicken tenders coated in a bit of olive oil and seasoned with a few more seasonings than the chuck roast. Cooked at 350 for 10 minutes and that was the perfect combination. The chicken tenders were done to perfection, not dried out, and the perfect texture, especially for not being breaded. I have been nothing but pleased with the Chefman Air Fryer. It is the perfect compliment to my kitchen, and is in danger of becoming my most favorite kitchen appliance. Clean up is super easy, and it's footprint is relatively small on the counter. There are a couple of things I think might have made this even better, however. For one, it would be great if the timer was able to do seconds, and not just full minutes. I've already learned that one minute in the air fryer can make the difference between perfection and a bit over-cooked. Also, the cooking basket is finned so as to allow better air circulation. The drawback comes when you want to save the drippings, like the bacon grease (Yes, I save and reuse bacon grease!). You just have to be a bit careful or else the grease will drip through the fins. But these two "issues" do nothing to diminish the overall satisfaction I am enjoying with this air fryer. I have already been bragging about it to some of my friends, and will continue to do so, not simply because of the ease of use, but the health value of the appliance as it substantially reduces the need of oil to cook. There is one small complaint, however, and that is the lack of any type of cookbook that comes with the appliance. I had absolutely no idea how long to cook anything for, so all my information and guidance had to come from the internet. There is a Chefman website full of recipes and advice, but you have to pay to join! Tsk tsk tsk... All in all, a truly great and marvelous air fryer, one that I will continue to recommend to my family and friends! Great job, Chefman!!

Almost daily use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn’t sure at first that I would like this appliance since we don’t eat a lot of fried foods, but once I started to use it, I could see how great these things really are. We have a 5 year old that would live off of chicken nuggets and tater tots if we let her. Sure these things are easy enough to put in a toaster oven, but this air fryer makes them nice and crispy on the outside without drying them out on the inside. It’s got me eating Chicken nuggets and tater tots too! I’ve cooked everything from hot dogs to sandwiches, mini quiches to breaded shrimp in this and they always come out great. Where this really excels is appetizers. Everything we’ve cooked so far has been crispy on the outside without overcooking the inside. Another great use is reheating take-out food. Eggrolls and take out fries are notoriously hard to reheat and never seem to taste as good reheated. This air fryer eliminates that issue. Possibly the best thing is how quickly this cooks. In 10 to 15 minutes you can have great tasting fried food without the mess. One thing I would recommend is that the first time you run this, do it in a well ventilated area. The first time I sued it, it had a pretty strong plastic/chemical smell. The food was fine, but the smell lasted for a while. After a few uses, that has gone away. Overall, this is one of our favorite appliances. If you have kids, it’s a must.
