I most feel alone on this - seems the critics didn't care for Christine. Oddly, I read and did not like the book, loved the movie. It really brings this living car to life. The casting is perfect and instead of suffering through the point of view of "I'm the geek's friend" football player, you get more of Arnie's point of view and of course Christine. I really thought Alexandra Paul was perfect too, beautiful and believable as the girl who "gave Arnie a shot." You route for her and Arnie, despite the odds. The car effects are great. Thank you Mr. Carpenter!!

The steelbook itself is okay, kinda pop artish so your mileage may vary on what you think of that. No artwork on the inside or back btw. The film itself is pretty underrated Carpenter. The scene with the punk teen running down the desolate road at night, the car, engulfed in flames, chasing him down as Carpenter’s synth score plays is just pure horror. This is a Sony release so as per usual the remaster in both 4K HDR and Dolby atmos is as top notch as you’d expect!

    One of Carpenter's Best

I can recall seeing "Christine" at a drive-in (what's a drive-in?) upon its initial release in 1983, and I vividly remember being effectively creeped out by the character of Arnie Cunningham. When watching it again, I still am. This flick is pure b-movie awesomeness. The car is killer (in more ways than one), Gordon's performance of a nerd turned totally unexpected and unhinged ladies' man is phenomenal, and Carpenter's direction is stellar. Definitely one of the man's best efforts, and that's saying a lot.

A great horror movie not to be missed. Even if you've never seen it, you most likely know it as the movie with the car that kills people, though the same could be said about "The Car". What sets this apart is that not only is the car the antagonist of the movie, but its owner also slowly becomes possessed right along side it. It also features some great practical effects, including the infamous "show me" scene.

    John Carpenter's Christine

John Carpenter brings Stephen King's best-selling novel to life in this chilling thriller. She was born in Detroit ... on an automobile assembly line. But she is no ordinary automobile. Deep within her chassis lives an unholy presence. She is CHRISTINE – a red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury whose unique standard equipment includes an evil, indestructible vengeance that will destroy anyone in her way. She seduces 17-year-old Arnie Cunningham (Keith Gordon), who becomes consumed with passion for her sleek, rounded chrome-laden body. She demands his complete and unquestioned devotion and when outsiders seek to interfere, they become the victims of Christine's horrifying wrath.

John Carpenter is a genius. The story line for this movie is terrific. This is by far the best movie I have ever seen. REALLY!. Carpenter's choice of a car was perfect. A 1958 Plymoth Fury is one of the most powerful and beautiful muscle cars ever made. The music in the movie was perfect for this thriller. It has a monotonous and errie tone that sets the mood just right. If I could have given this movie ten stars I would have. If you are at all interested in thrill movies I highly recommend this one.

This pertains to the 4k Disk only... Not pleased with this transfer to 4k. Lots of grain. Not much color pop or wow factor ... I mean seeing Christine in 4K should wow you with chrome and red goodness. Disappointed.

I won't review the movie here because Christine is one of my favorite John Carpenter movies and I've done so on plenty of other websites. But I will talk about the steelbook. The front is gorgeous, and very strange cover for the movie. It doesn't look like a traditional film poster at all and thats why I love it. It has a blurb of text describing Christine to you. The inside is a striking pink and makes the blu ray disc pop out. It's real nice.

This Movie is Amazing in 4K

Christine is one of those enigma movies that when it came out it was not looked fondly upon and as time has gone by it has become an excellent example of the work of John Carpenter, sparsely shot, tersely directed and with a moody synth score Christine is a movie that transcends a regular teenage genera horror film. This 4K disc shows just how beautiful shot the film is.

Christine is a film based of the Stephen King novel of the same name. It takes place in the 1979 centering on two main characters of Arnie and his friend who plays football. One is an outcast and has issues with girls/daily school life. The other is OK. One day that all changes when they find this old car. It's for sale but it has a dark past.. Makes you wonder about old cars in junkyards after seeing this one haha.

The standard bluray already looked amazing, and this is even better. The HDR use is well done, and Christine herself is the reddest thing I have ever seen. Can't go wrong with the price and steelbook. Check this out if you haven't seen it. One of Carpenter's best and Keith Gordon deserved an award for his performance.

    Essential Carpenter

Christine rides on the heels of a prolific period in John Carpenter's career. Released in 1983 after such genre classics as Halloween (1978), The Fog (1980), Escape from New York (1981) and The Thing (1982), Christine gets lost in the shuffle of Carpenter's filmography. Looking back there's no denying Christine's sheer power featuring quintessential Carpenter trademarks. An underrated classic.

Excellent 4k transfer. Audio (especially Bad to the Bone) is a little lacking but probably a fault of the time. Steelbook is also great, and I appreciate the style (vintage car ad) as most other Carpenter Steelbooks have a theme that I'm not a fan of (Shout Factory, Zaavi).

Leave it to director John Carpenter to deliver the goods when it comes to translating the work of Stephen King to the sliver screen (not as easy at it sounds). The story of a car 'seducing' a teenager as he comes into his own is done remarkably well with great performances left and right. This special edition blu-ray contains numerous extras including some deleted scenes that are interesting (for a change).

Although this film about a car with a demonic mind of its own is wonderful fun, the 4K version is disappointing. The video does not look any better than it seems that it would in DVD.

The movie is just greatness. Put it in any category you want, but it's excellent all year round. Sure it's kinda creepy, but it's 80's and that now puts it in a category of it's own. Great movie, looks good on Blu-ray, got the digital copy too.

I'm a fan of the film, however, the steelbook was my main reasoning for this purchase. I'm curious about the restoration quality / transfer from original format to HD. As of late the steelbook selection has decreased from times past here in MA. Only selected new releases titles seem to get the exclusive steelbook packaging, so I definitely did not hesitate on this purchase.
