I have two units: one upstairs in a bedroom and one downstairs in a living room. Life in a day of Google TV - 8AM - wife yells from downstairs Google TV keeps freezing, is the internet ok. I am doing Speed Check. Yes everything is fine. Both units are plugged using Ethernet adapter. Mystery continues. - 10AM - Google TV just froze, no reason, unresponsive to any remotes, gotta get up and plug and unplug the darn thing - 12PM - Samsung TV remote can connect Google TV via HDMI CEC but it stopped working. Now I have to find that darn white small remote again. - 2PM - UI crashes all the sudden and it is stuck on this ridiculous half loaded screen that it looks like a wave is going from left side to right side - 4PM - UI glitches and freezes and after 30 seconds executes all the remote button pushes from the last 30 seconds, creating a havoc - 6PM - for no reason, all the sudden the sound stops working. Just cuts out. Hard reboot again. - 8PM - maybe the reason is that it is underpowered, so I switch to app only mode. The entire layout is messed up and unusable. - 10PM - watching Netflix or Plex, random crash straight to the main menu. This time no loading screen. I consider this a win. - 12AM - good luck finding this white dinky remote in the bed, everyday you will be shaking all your covers to find it. It is not an issue with a bad batch. I bought these two units from different places at different time. The support will tell you do the hard reset. Overall it is a badly executed product. Why do I keep using? Because Apple is a closed ecosystem and I can sideload some content from Europe that I like to watch. Google has one problem, it has a poor hardware division that keeps launching mediocre products: Google Nest, Google Nest Cameras, Google Chromecast TV, Google Fiber. Did you notice that their hardware products don't improve over time? I am not talking about Google Assistant but arguably that one stalled too. Maybe they should abandon their dream of designing any hardware and stick to search and make OS of Android.
