Cast feature of ChromeCAST didn't work

Ha. After 2 tech support calls and about 2 1\2 hours resetting and trying to make it work, it was determined to be defective. The remote feels nice in the hand. I would give it a worse review but I'm sure not ALL of them are defective. Ha.

The only plus is the watchlist across all streaming services. …which is a huge plus. I love that feature. Everything else is sub par however. I ended up giving this to my aunt and went back to Apple TV. The volume buttons don’t work and it regularly freezes.

Here are some steps that might clear the issue with the Voice Remote:
- Forget the remote control from the Settings > Remotes and Accessories > Forget.
- If there's a pending update, update the remote control.
- Remove and replace the batteries in the Chromecast Voice Remote.

I have like 4 apps that I use but the home screen is all filled with recommended movies that I don't even have the subscription. I like the responsiveness though. Also, wish it had come with a rechargeable battery

It's well worth the money and isn't expensive I don't feel.

I now have mine direct Ethernet Wired. The WiFi was lagging and my device is 10 ft from the Router (clear line of sight). So maybe this is not for everyone.

Still waiting for a company to offer a device that has a high end CPU with more RAM. Not sure why the goal here is to make it as small as possible and to put in just barely enough processing power to just 'get by'. Would gladly pay 2 to 3 times more for something better. Also, the menu system makes me believe that the UI developers have actually never watched TV and are only using their online streaming experience to make decisions. Television is about scrolling through channels and discovering something to watch. Relying on Search completely ruins the experience. Also not to happy with the remote, its difficult to hold and use with one hand, especially trying to use the pointer pad.

Google ruined this device

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The fact it needs a wall outlet now is a major issue for people who have mounted concealed hardware. Also they force casting into the apps if they exist instead of using chromecast. This provides a bad user experience, the apps are not always as good of quality as the phone apps. This also causes casting to disconnect from the phone all of the time forcing you to go find the remote to control what is being cast and losing the ability to switch back and forth if you are moving around the house. Chromecast does not auto turn on with the input selected once set up like older models do. This prevents sound bars from enabling the audio and forces me to manually change the audio when I turn on my TV now.
