Posted ."Hi there, OlegS. We hear your concerns on losing Wi-Fi connection with the Chromecast with Google TV (4k). There could be a few things impacting the performance — here’s some suggestions to get you up and running again:
1. Check your Chromecast Wi-Fi network. At the top right of your TV screen, select your account icon and then Settings and then Network and Internet.
2. If your router supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, make sure that your Chromecast is on the 5 GHz network.
3. Update your router's firmware, if needed. Sometimes routers have bugs, and there are firmware fixes to address them. Make sure that your router is running the most updated software.
4. Restart your Chromecast. Unplug the power cable and then wait three seconds and then plug the power cable back in.
5. Restart your modem or router. Check the manufacturer for instructions.
6. To help prevent Wi-Fi or Bluetooth interference, move your Chromecast further away from your TV. Also, don't let it touch other devices, wires or cables.
7. Use an Ethernet adaptor to connect your Chromecast to your router. This will give you a direct, hardwire connection to the Internet and alleviate your home Wi-Fi network.

Works great -- when it's not hard failing

One of them had to be factory reset 5 times to get it to setup -- very frustrating. Another the remote toggle just stopped working after about 10 days of use. More resets, hard resets, etc, google tech chats -- waste of time. Waiting on a replacement from google for it. Quality is definitely lacking.

- If you have a dual band router, try setting up Chromecast with Google TV on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands and see which band is more stable.

- Turn on your Chromecast and then at the top right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings .
- Select Display and Sound.
You’ll also have the option to adjust the following display settings, depending on the features available on your TV:
- Match content: Use this setting to allow your Chromecast to match the dynamic range to the source content that you’re viewing.
- Allow game mode: Game mode reduces latency and allows a faster game response time. To adjust game mode, select Advanced display settings.
- Resolution and frame rate: Use this setting to adjust the screen resolution and frame rate. To adjust resolution, select Advanced display settings.

Chromecast with Google TV Review

Total Waste

Checked online and the problem is common. Unfortunately, tossed the box, to stuck with it. It's in a drawer until Google fixes the problem. Back to Roku.

We recommend checking if your set up for Chromecast with Google TV has the following items to get the best video and audio experience:
- Ensure that your display or TV monitor has an HDMI port that supports both HDCP 2.2 and 60 frames per second (60 FPS). If you're using an AVR or soundbar, those will also need to support HDCP 2.2.
- A high-speed internet connection of at least 20 Mbps.
- A high speed HDMI cable. Recommended length: Less than 6 ft. (1.8m).
- Use only the power supply that was provided with your Chromecast with Google TV.

Shame on Google!!

The constant buffering makes it impossible to watch anything. Now, I'm getting an error message that I need to do a factoy reset and can't perform that because it is completely dead. Human sadness.

Up until then, I had enjoyed it's function. Pretty bummed out considering I have several other google accessories.

We recommend resetting your Chromecast and Voice Remote to help fix the issue. You may follow the steps below to perform the reset.
With the Voice Remote:
- In the upper right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings .
- Select System and then About and then Factory Reset.
From the Chromecast device:
- While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, press and hold the button on the back of the Chromecast. The LED will start blinking yellow.
- When the LED light turns solid white, release the button and the Chromecast will then reset.

Did not like this

It was hard to set up and hard to navigate. The remote is not easy to use either because it only has a limited number of buttons. I would rather use the apps that are already preinstalled on my TV than use the Chromecast.

We suggest the following steps that might improve the connectivity of your Chromecast with Google TV:
- If you have a dual band router, try setting up your Chromecast on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands and see which band is more stable.
- Check for possible congestion with your Wi-Fi network. Removing some of your connected devices may relieve network congestion.
- Check for possible interference as thick walls and other devices in your home may weaken Wi-Fi signals.
- Bring your Chromecast closer to your router to get better signal reception from your router.
- Restart your Chromecast and your Wi-Fi router. Unplugged the devices from the power outlet. Leave them unplugged for at least a minute before plugging them back in.
We also suggest clearing the app cache that might help as having a sizable amount of cache stored, would affect its performance. See the steps below:
- From the Google TV home screen, in the top right, go to the user profile icon and select Settings.
- Select Apps and choose the app you're having trouble with.
- If you can't find it, select See all apps.
- Select Clear cache and then Ok.
