Surprised it was so bad coming from Google
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was unexpectedly bad. It was not smooth to operate. It was slow. I found the UI to be confusing. I ended up going back to the Roku stick I had been using. It was such a relief when I did.

Don't buy this
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Piece of garbage. Freezes again and again. Only way to fix it is disconnect and reconnect to power. I've had to do this 5 times in the last 2 days. I've only had it for a month and it keeps happening. Best Buy has a horrible 15 day return policy.

Posted .Hi csk26,
Thanks for your feedback. We're sorry for the frustrating performance issue you have with your Chromecast with Google TV. If you still have your device, we’re here to help and improve your experience.
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow that might be helpful in resolving the issue:
- Ensure that your Chromecast is connected to your 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Remove other connected devices on your Wi-Fi network and see if you will still encounter the same issue. Should you verify congestion, then we recommend contacting your internet service provider for resolution.
- We recommend a Wi-Fi network with 25 Mbps download speed that can ensure you have enough bandwidth and get a smooth viewing experience.
- If it does not work, you may try restarting your Chromecast by going to Settings > System > Restart.
- You may also try to isolate if the issue happens on other apps.
- If it's still unresolved, perform a factory reset on the Chromecast with Google TV.
a. While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV, hold down the button on the Chromecast device for at least 25 seconds or until the solid LED light turns into a flashing red light.
b. Once the LED light turns blinking white and the TV goes blank, release the button. The Chromecast device will begin the reboot sequence.
If the steps provided do not resolve the issue, you may reach out to our support team so we can help you in the best way possible here:

Apps close themselves right after being paused
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pause your show and go refill your glass of water, and the app (any app) will close before you make it back. Makes it a poor choice compared to the alternatives -- including older Chromecasts, which don't have this problem. Not at all recommended.

Posted .Hi Anonymous,
We understand how disappointing that can be. We apologize for the poor experience you have with your Chromecast with Google TV.
To isolate any software issues, we recommend performing a factory reset on both the Chromecast and the Voice Remote:
To reset the Chromecast:
1. Go to Settings.
2. Select System.
3. Select About.
4. Select Factory reset (this is the third option on the About screen).
5. Select Factory reset again, then Erase everything to confirm.
To reset the Voice Remote:
1. Check that the batteries in the remote have remaining charges.
2. Remove the batteries from the remote.
3. Press and hold the Home button Voice remote home button.
4. While holding the button, reinsert the batteries.
5. Hold the button while the LED light is solid.
6. When the light starts pulsing, release the button.
After performing the factory reset, you should be able to go through the regular setup process again. If you´re still having problems, we'd be happy to help you. You´re more than welcome to reach out to our support team here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp

Posted .Hi Denononon, thanks for sharing the details of your experience with us. We're sorry to hear that the audio on your Chromecast with Google TV goes out of sync when streaming from your Disney Plus streaming app.
We recommend checking if you will experience the same issue with your other apps on Chromecast with Google TV. If the issue only happens with one app, we recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the app. You may follow the steps on this help page:
https://support.google.com/googletv/answer/10050570
However, if the issue still happens with the other apps on Chromecast with Google TV, you may try resetting it to fix the issue. This process will erase all data and you may need to set it up again. Here's how:
With the Chromecast Voice Remote:
- In the upper right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings.
- Select System and then About and then Factory Reset.
From the Chromecast device:
- While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, press and hold the button on the back of the Chromecast. The LED will start blinking yellow.
- When the LED light turns solid white, release the button and the Chromecast will then reset.
If you still experience the same issue, we recommend contacting our support team via the Google Chromecast help page: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp

Posted .Hi Furbox, thanks for sharing your experience. We do apologize for the buffering issue you are encountering on your Chromecast with Google TV.
The issue may be related to both the limited bandwidth caused by a congestion of your network or a possible interference. We recommend trying out the following:
- Remove some of your connected devices to free up some bandwidth space and test if you will experience the same issue. Chromecast typically requires a high speed Internet connection of at least 20 Mbps. If you verify congestion, we suggest contacting your Internet service provider for resolution.
- Check for possible signal interference. Placing Chomecast with Google TV in a direct line of sight to your router and away from other possible sources of interference like a refrigerator, microwave oven, etc. might improve signal reception.
If unresolved, we may need to take a closer look to isolate what’s causing the issue. Feel free to reach out to our Google Chromecast support team. We’d be more than happy to assist you here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp

Posted .Hi Magic, thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback about the Chromecast with Google TV, and we’re sorry to hear of the issues you had. We understand the importance of having the latest software for the best viewing experience. To check if the Chromecast software is up-to-date, look up the Chromecast build number under “Device settings” in the Home app. If it's not up-to-date, you have to reboot your Chromecast device (unplug it from its power source, wait one to 2 minutes, then plug it back in) to attempt to receive the update, which can help in some situations. Make sure your Chromecast device is plugged into the power outlet (and not via a USB powered connection), then wait at least 24 hours before checking the firmware version again.
If the issue persists after trying the simple steps above, we suggest reaching out to our specialists for further investigation. We have help always available for your support needs here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp

Posted .Hi there, thanks for sharing your feedback and we're sorry to hear that you are experiencing some difficulties with your Chromecast with Google TV. We would always recommend that you use the power adapter of the device so that it gets the power it needs to work as intended. Posted .Hi there 10042021, thanks for sharing the details of your experience with the Chromecast with Google TV. We can see how much time and effort you’ve put into this, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.
To fix your connectivity issue, we recommend trying out the steps below:
- Check for possible interference. Appliances like your microwave oven, refrigerator or even your neighbors Wi-Fi network may cause interference with your Chromecast.
- Check for possible congestion. Removing some of your connected devices may help relieve some bandwidth space and you may check if your experience will improve. Once congestion is verified, contacting your provider for a possible upgrade of your connection will be your best option.
- Ensure that your Chromecast is in a line of sight with your Wi-Fi router to get the best signal strength and Wi-Fi coverage.
- Restart your router, mobile phone and Chromecast.
- Lastly, if the issue persists, performing a factory data reset work with the issue. You can check this article for more information on how to reset Chromecast: https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6254654
