Posted .Hi there SSandS, thanks for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about the poor performance you are experiencing on Chromecast with Google TV.
Chromecast devices typically require a high speed Internet connection of at least 20 Mbps and a reliable Wi-Fi network to work optimally. We recommend checking if your current Internet bandwidth is possibly congested, or that it may not have enough bandwidth to enable the best viewing experience with your Chromecast. Removing some of your connected devices to free up some bandwidth space, and trying out Chromecast will help verify the issue. If you verify congestion, we suggest contacting your Internet service provider to check your connection and upgrade it if needed.
If the issue persists even after upgrading your connection, please consider contacting our support team for further help here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp

Posted .Hi Junglist724,
Thanks for your feedback. Chromecast with Google TV was designed to provide you with the best viewing experience by playing your favorite videos in 4K or Ultra High-definition (UHD). However, this would typically require at least a 20 Mbps broadband connection and the video stuttering issues could be related to a congestion in your Wi-Fi network. To check if your bandwidth is enough, try removing some of your connected devices and check if you can watch videos without experiencing the stuttering issues you reported to us. If the stuttering stops, then you may need to contact your Internet service provider for resolution.
If you continue to encounter the same issue, you can always reach out to us for further questions and assistance via Google Chromecast support page here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp

Customer Support for Dongle is TERRIBLE
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had this product for 4 months. I had no issue setting this up but I noticed within a week that the video and audio would freeze when there was internet buffering. The audio would restart but the video would not. If i re-wound 15 secs and re-started the playing would resume. This happens while using Google TV. I have not noticed this with Netflix or Amazon Prime but I used them far less often. After off and on problems for 4 months I contacted Google. They had me do factory reset of the dongle, reset it up then uninstall and re-install Google TV. The same issue showed up within 2 days. I contacted Google again; since I had already done a factory reset and uninstall/reinstall of the app w/o fixing the issue I asked for a replacement dongle on the assumption that there is hardware issue. They would not do this but instead connected me to the Google WiFi group to "checkout my wifi." My WiFi is a Google WiFi mesh system with standard setup. I spent almost 2 hours on chat with WiFi support. They asked me to run/send them a diagnostic report. This failed to run multiple times. They had me change some permissions and finally got one good run of the report. After their analysis, the WiFi support said i had gotten 15 DHCP timeouts in 2 hours and therefore I had an unstable connection which was causing the issue. They wanted me to contact my ISP and/or do a factory reset of the WiFi. Instead, i went back to my Amazon 4k Fire Stick. Multiple day now w/o issue. Once in awhile I may see internet buffering and/or reduction in signal quality but once the issue the clears no freezing of video or audio. I like the features of the dongle, but customer support is TERRIBLE.

Posted .Hi TG19, thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that Chromecast with Google TV didn’t meet your expectations.
Closed Caption settings on Chromecast with Google TV are off times are dependent on the casting app itself. ON your Amazon Prime Video app, after playback has started, try to tap the Menu > Subtitles > On. In the subtitles menu, you can also customize the font size and color scheme for the subtitle text and see if this will improve the experience.
We're always on the lookout for opportunities that will help us improve our products and services. We have taken a note of your feedback and we'll make sure to pass this on to the right team. Posted .Hi there girleegirl, thanks for sharing your insights. We´re sorry to hear about your views on Chromecast with Google TV´s Wi-Fi reliability.
Wi-Fi connectivity issues with Chromecast may be affected by different factors. We recommend checking the steps below to isolate the issue:
- Possible congestion in your network. Chromecast requires a high speed Internet connection of at least 20 Mbps. Low bandwidth availability may limit or prevent your Chromecast from streaming. Removing some of your connected devices may help free up some bandwidth space.
- Signal interference caused by the thick walls of your home, electrical appliances, or opposing Wi-Fi signal from your neighbors network. Placing your Chromecast with Google TV in a straight line of sight with your router may improve connectivity.
You may also want to consider performing a factory data reset on Chromecast. This process will erase all data and that you may need to set it up again. To reset Chromecast with Google TV, follow the steps below:
With the Chromecast Voice Remote:
- In the upper right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings .
- Select System > and then About > and then Factory Reset.
From the Chromecast device:
- While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, press and hold the button on the back of the Chromecast. The LED will start blinking yellow.
- When the LED light turns solid white, release the button and the Chromecast will then reset.
If the issue remains, you may want to consider contacting our support team for further assistance. We'd be happy to work with you and improve your experience here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp

Posted .Hi TrustMe, thanks for sharing your experience with us. We're sorry for any frustration this issue has caused you. This can be caused by several factors and most of the time related to some settings on your Wi-Fi network. We recommend these troubleshooting steps and see if these will help you out:
- Check if your network is congested. You can remove some of your connected devices so that it can free up some bandwidth.
- If you have a dual band router, try setting up your Chromecast with Google TV on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands and see which band is more stable. Make sure that the set up device is on the same network as the Chromecast.
- Check your network type. You might be connected to a Wi-Fi network that is shared or has special access restrictions like Captive Portals that require visiting a landing page to use the internet.
- Check your router settings. Settings like AP isolation must be turned off for your Chromecast with Google TV to connect properly. You can contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance in turning off this setting.
