Love it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has made our tv viewing so much easier! It’s fast, easy to use and the remote is a perfect fit for my hand. I still can’t tell if the plug has to be plugged in all the time. That wasn’t very clear.

Great deal, awesome product.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Throw away any other streaming device you have. The interface is great, easy to use and fast. Add in the fact that it streams in 4k and is updated frequently and you can't afford to pass on this. Definitely recommended.

Really Surprised With How Good GoogleTV Is....
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tested basically every higher end streaming device including Nvidia Shield TV, Apple TV (2 most recent versions), Amazon FireTV Cube as well as Roku Premiere and even TiVo Stream 4K. I have found each to have positives as well as negatives (Apple TV Remote and $ for example). I recently purchased the GoogleTV with remote and I have to say given the price point and the fact that it is a first generation product that will likely only improve, I am very impressed with the user interface, remote layout, and app selection. Is it perfect? No, there are times that the screen takes a few extra seconds to load and the recommendations seem a little off but for the price point, in my experience it has the most positives going for it as a streaming device.

Works great for casting and slideshows
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a first gen Chromecast and I was finding that newer devices were having an issue casting to it. I was deciding between this and a Chromecast Ultra, but it wasn’t clear whether the Ultra was going to get the Google TV upgrade so I went with this instead. I’m still having an issue with one device casting to it, but all the other ones cast fine so I’ll blame it on that particular device. The UI seems fine, but we are an iOS house and we have a Prime subscription, so the Apple TV and Fire Stick get a lot more use around here. Other than casting, we use it for slideshows and it works better than the other two when doing random Google Photos albums, I’m guessing for obvious reasons. All in all, I am satisfied with this purchase.

Love it!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product. I lost the remote to an old sony TV, This remote was able to connect to it for the power functionality. As well as the added android tv experience. Great interface, easy to use and very convenient.

Great Upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an upgrade after owning a previous version for years. The pairing with a 4K TV offers a beautiful picture. The installation of common media apps offers great convenience in addition to the remote.

Just what i wanted!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very happy with it! Does exactly what i wanted! Puts everything on one screen so i don't have to look at each app separately on my tablet! Also like to be able to talk to the remote to tell it what I'm looking for!

The one to beat.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent streaming dongle. Fast, reliable and sturdy. The Chromecast with Google TV is a game changer in the streaming dongle race and in my opinion the one to beat. Set up is a is a breeze with the Google home app. The UI is fantastic and very intuitive, especially for a YouTube TV subscriber. It also brings all your content in one place in "for you" section. With seamless integration and the ability to add to a Google speaker group the Chromecast with Google TV is a definite must for any Google household. The new remote is a very nice addition. Small but very easy to use. If you've ever use a remote like a Roku remote then you will feel right at home with the Chromecast remote the second you pick it up You can definitely buy this with confidence.

Great box with a limited remote.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced an old chromecast with this, mainly for the 4k support. Surprisingly, the google tv support is outstanding, integrating all my streaming services with apps that blow away my samsung tv's apps. Tired of searching for something to watch separately on each service? This is the solution. I just searched for "Soul", and it took my straight to it via Disney+. The big con is that the remote only handles the chromecast, a tv, and an amp. If that's all you have, great. But if you have a cable box or anything else, it won't support it. Fortunately you can get a SofaBaton U1, which is truly universal for IR and bluetooth devices, including the chromecast, and it's inexpensive. Put together, they are amazing.

No more Samsung Tizen
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this to use instead of our Samsung Smart TV "Tizen" interface. Much faster and smoother than the Samsung UI and it makes it easier/faster to get to the shows we want to watch.

Better than Roku?
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have both a Chromecast 4k device (for one week) and a Google TV (two Months). Pleased with both, especially since I am a Google/Nest home with Android cellphones. Had Roku TV's and devices for years before making this switch. Here is the difference between Roku and Google TV devices. Google is faster with more customizable. Roku is stable and consistent. Kinda like the difference between iPhone/IOS and Android phones. Both are great just depends what you value the most. If you want an experience that is straight forward, a bit walled off and works consistently with no fuss go with Roku. If you want fast, deep integration with other platforms and the ability to fully customize your experience and willing to put up with some technical difficulties occasionally then go for Google TV.

works great / cheap
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great streamer for the price, my only complaint is it has such little internal storage so don't plan on loading a ton of apps, just the essentials. If you need more space/app support get the Nvidia shield tv. If money is no object, get the apple tv instead as it's by far my favorite streamer because it always works and is always fast, and has other perks other streamers still don't have. Apps can get janky on android tv devices and especially cheap FireTV sticks which makes them frustrating to deal with, and they tend to run sluggish/choppy.

Lacks ethernet but its good
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Google Chromecast has always been a great entry level device for streaming and many have liked that you can just cast from the phone. But there are those, myself included, who prefer a physical remote so the Chromecast was never an ideal solution. Enter the new Google TV Chromecast. While the remote is small and cheap feeling it does exactly as one would expect it to. I was able to program it to my Sonos Playbar and control the volume and it was also able to turn my TV on and off using ARC. The setup process is done through the Google Home app on your phone or other device. The interface is very simplistic yet informative. While it's not as quick as the Nvidia Shields Android TV interface it's still rather fluid. I was able to find any application I wanted to use including HBO Max. The only issue I have with this device is that it's WiFi only. You can make it hard wired up to 100Mbps but only if you purchase a $20 AC Wall adapter from Google. The ethernet port should have been included in the box which is why I docked a star.

Great Device
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great device. Will help those who don't have a smart TV. It is faster than Amazon Fire Stick 4k. The IU is really easy to navigate and looks great. Recommend to anyone trying to get smart dongle for the TV.

Chromecast with google TV
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love that this has a remote. it turns any basic tv into a smart TV. Google interface is great, and remote works well. This also is awesome if you have YYTV, makes it work like standard cable.

Great device with one major flaw...
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great add to any tv especially if it has HDMI but not a smart TV. I first added one to my basement tv for our treadmill and overall it has been really good to have. Perfect for streaming from Android phone to tv. Google TV is ok but would be nice to see a better layout especially for YouTube. That app gets confusing with the YouTube music app if you are not streaming from your phone. I actually have this plugged into the one HDMI port on an older 24" tv and I am able to Bluetooth pair the audio to my connected Samsung HW-T550 soundbar as there is no other input/output to get sound from the TV to another device. In a nutshell, the Chromecast sends the video to the tv and the audio to the soundbar and that is really helpful. The one flaw, and to me it is a major one is that you still need to have a wall connection plug for the device. not sure why they cant make it so the USB port on a tv can power it but for an item so small it just adds another ugly wire out the back of the tv.

Google Assistant
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great buy to make a dumb TV smart. It's relatively inexpensive, ( vs buying a smart tv) and it does a lot. The voice comprehension is particularly good. It understands what is being asked quite nicely. It's able to tell you calendar events as well assuming you use Google calendar for appointments. What i struggled with a bit was initial password setup and user ids. In some cases you can use a QR code to do that on your mobile or computer. That's a much better option than the on screen keyboard which is painful to use.

A huge step up from the original.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love it. We had the original first generation Chromecast and this is a big step up. The remote and interface are easy to use and the added benefit of 4k support (when I get a 4k TV) will be great.
