I was going to purchase the hardwire accessory but I don't feel the need to after using this! Excellent media center device!

I don't particularly like the layout of the remote. I love/hate the white. It/apps crash occasionally, just like the competition, which is frustrating.

Posted .Hi there, Daniel! We're glad to hear that Chromecast with Google TV (4K) has been working pretty well for you. We do apologize if some of the features like the Voice Remote layout and app fell short of meeting your expectations.
Resetting Chromecast with Google TV (4K) may be helpful with the occasional app crash that you're experiencing. Keep in mind that resetting it will erase all data and that you may need to set it up right after the reset process. To reset, follow the steps below:
With the Chromecast Voice Remote: In the upper right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings. > Select System and then About and then Factory Reset.
From the Chromecast device:
While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, press and hold the button on the back of the Chromecast. The LED should start to blink yellow. > When the LED light turns solid white, release the button, and the Chromecast should then reset.

Bought this and was very pleased. Makes our old Samsung tv a smart tv. Took a little time to program apps , but not a big issue. Will purchase another.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I travel a lot for work and used a Roku Stick in the past for hotels. I thought I would upgrade to this Chromecast since it has a remote and Google TV interface. This didn't work for me, though, for 2 reasons; 1) MUST BE POWERED THROUGH AC ADAPTER, which isn't always doable for some hotel setups. Roku can be powered via USB on back of TV. 2) CANNOT CONNECT TO HOTEL WIFI. This is a big one. The only work around is making your own laptop hotspot, but that's dumb. Roku recognizes hotel wifi portals and gives you steps to still connect fine. Bit of a let down since I love Google products. As a home device, I'm sure it would be wonderful, but for the traveling man I would recommend the Roku Stick 4k.

In general, Chromecast works almost anywhere if there’s a Wi-Fi signal. But, there are a few things to keep in mind if you’re trying to connect to certain types of Wi-Fi networks or routers. Mobile hotspots, guest networks, and other types of internet service are not recommended for use with Chromecast, and it does not support Enterprise networks such as 802.1x/RADIUS or captive portal networks (networks that require you to agree to terms of service, such as a coffee shop or hotel). All Wi-Fi routers have a limit on the total number of devices that can be connected to Wi-Fi at the same time. Refer to your router’s manual for its limit.

I have Netflix and of course YouTube. It will stream over WiFi seamlessly. You can add other apps to your line ups.

The only reason I did was because my Google Assistant works better with the newer Chromecast and all of our other devices.

It makes casting to your TV very simple. I'm not crazy about the form factor of the controller which is too slippery, but definitely not a show stopper.

I like google so I went with the chrome cast. It integrates well with everything. The only downside is the slippery remote. Easily fixed with a silicone case.
