Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The new 4K Chromecast is very reasonably priced and displays all the offerings of my services (including HBOMAX which Roku doesn't have) lumped together in one place sorted into useful categories and searchable across services. Best of all, the movies show their Rotten Tomatoes ratings. The 4K UHD is awesome on Curiosity Stream. My TV smart APP couldn't handle this but the Chromecast displays without pause. My only disappointment is there is no app for Watch TCM, even though there is one for my android tablet.

The overall interface is designed well and it's easy to add accounts and apps to make an Apple TV-like experience. Now that bad: The app support is hit-or-miss and seems to break with updates. HBO Max app only outputs stereo sound but if you cast to the device from a phone you get Atmos/5.1. Same with other services such as Movies Anywhere you have to cast from the phone to get HDR/5.1 audio because the native apps don't currently support it which defeats the point of the new device.

The limited sound issue you're having could be related to the sound setting for your Chromecast with Google TV. You can customize your sound format on your Chromecast with Google TV by adjusting your advanced sound settings as shown below:
- Go to Settings.
- Select Display and Sound.
- Select Advanced sound settings.
- Select Format selection.
- Then select between Automatic, Never, or Manual to choose formats from available formats.
- Under the various sound settings range, toggle the buttons to either on or off. For example, Dolby Atmos in Dolby Digital Plus, AAC, Dolby Digital.
