Better than my actual smart tv

Voice control is good. But usability has lots of room for improvement. For example: channel up/down needs to be added. Would be much better if it returned to the YouTubeTV Live channel when you turn it back on. Add more buttons which are user programable, like to go to Prime. Bottom line: Better than a phone for YouTubeTV, but not as functional as the cable remote you are accustomed to.

You can try doing a factory reset on your voice remote. Please note that this will clear your data:
- (Optional) Check that the batteries in your Chromecast voice remote have charge remaining.
- Remove the batteries from the remote.
- Press and hold the Home button.
- While holding the Home button, reinsert the batteries.
- Hold the button while the LED light is solid.
- When the light starts pulsing, release the button.

Plus tired of the HboMax and Peacock battle. I was never a fan of the old Chromecast, just because I like having a remote. We bought one of these a few weeks ago, and just bought a 2nd one. We have used YoutubeTV for a couple years, so that integration on the Home screen is nice. Love the "Home screen" that grabs data from different services.

Performance is OK, I have seen it take a little bit to load the thumbnails. One issue that I have been having, is that some times I turn it on and the colors are not right, and I have to reboot it. To be fair here, I do not have another TV to test it with, so I am not sure if it is this device or my TV, it did not happen with the old Chromecast.

Setup was a breeze -- it easily found my TV and internet wifi network. Nice remote that is able to power on and off both the Chromecast device and TV. The actual Google TV service and navigation takes a little getting use to versus Comcast TV and DVR. Unlimited DVR is great although it seems like the DVR playback from my library is a little lower quality than live TV.

My setup: (1) Flat external monitor with built-in speaker and HDMI input. (2) This Chromecast with Google TV. (3) Minivan's LTE subscription (or you can tether to your smartphone using hotspot). Now my kids can watch YouTube or videos from other sources in the car in long road trips. Perfect.

It turned our non-smart TV into one. Just when I was thinking about getting rid of the TV, Now my investment in the TV can be extended for only $50. I moved the old Chromecast device to my bedroom TV that was already a Smart TV, so I can now cast stuff to it, too.
