Chromecast now with Android aka Google TV.

And comes with an assistant button on the remote. You can download all the TV apps available for Android. You can install VLC to stream anything from your computer or other devices as well.

Tried the so-called smart TV but was not able to view AT&T U-verse. Bought this and worked beautifully - now able to watch UVerse as well as Netflix. Worth ever dollar!

I don't particularly like the layout of the remote. I love/hate the white. It/apps crash occasionally, just like the competition, which is frustrating.

Posted .Hi there, Daniel! We're glad to hear that Chromecast with Google TV (4K) has been working pretty well for you. We do apologize if some of the features like the Voice Remote layout and app fell short of meeting your expectations.
Resetting Chromecast with Google TV (4K) may be helpful with the occasional app crash that you're experiencing. Keep in mind that resetting it will erase all data and that you may need to set it up right after the reset process. To reset, follow the steps below:
With the Chromecast Voice Remote: In the upper right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings. > Select System and then About and then Factory Reset.
From the Chromecast device:
While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, press and hold the button on the back of the Chromecast. The LED should start to blink yellow. > When the LED light turns solid white, release the button, and the Chromecast should then reset.

Way nicer than the fire stick or Roku. I can now also turn on my tv using google assistant before I get to the TV room and have my favorite show loading up

Only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because the remote is EXTREMELY slippery. I have leather couches and it’s always sliding off the arm rest. ALWAYS. For some it may be meaningless and that’s fine I’m probably being too critical, but if it keeps falling off it’ll eventually break
