Best streaming service for the price!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GREAT PRICE FOR WHAT YOU GET! I'd like to see it in black. But its hidden for most set ups so no big deal. Beats firestick, and cube! Great for older TVs! I have a new Samsung TV and I still use this product. All of your apps and streaming in one place!

Sleek, Amazing UI, but mediocre storage and buggy!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This very sleek device, with an amazing UI. I love google products. I’ve given this 3 stars bc 1) Initial setup is very buggy. I had to return the 1st one I bought bc remote was misbehaving during setup and afterwards. One click would cause it jump around 10 apps, etc. With both the 1st and 2nd one, it’s impossible to finish initial setup with phone, as it would Not let me sign in to my account using the phone, but do so using the remote. 2) Device only has about 4Gig of usable storage, which is very unacceptable for the era we’re are in. Even 32gig is small, but at least most other manufacturers use 32gig as minimum. Google should lead by example and sets standard. And, there’s no easy way to expand storage. Otherwise, this device will become my second favorite go to for streaming, only 2nd to my Apple TV 4K.

Okay upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The UI is really nice but there is a lot of glitchiness and its a little more difficult to cast directly from your phone. Its more of a firestik/Roku than a traditional chomecast. My old chromecast was gettung old so it was frequently shutting off. This chromecast will also randomly bave the sceen turn pink, which forces you to turn it off and on. Theres a lot of updates that will need to be implemented if we are being honest but its a great solution to most media needs. Ive even streamed steam link to the Chromecast, which works great on games like Stray or Bioshock but isnt bery great with fast paced games (Rocket League, Sekiro).

Posted .Hi there Jakevns, thanks for trying out the new Chromecast with Google TV (4K). We're glad to hear that you're liking the UI. However, we do apologize for the glitches and difficult experiences you had when casting from your mobile phone and when streaming fast paced games.
Chromecast typically requires a high speed Internet connection of at least 20 Mbps and a reliable Wi-Fi network connection. For faster paced games, it may even require a higher bandwidth. We recommend checking if your current Internet bandwidth is possibly congested, or that it may not be enough to enable the best viewing experience with Chromecast. Removing some of your connected devices to free up some bandwidth space, and trying out Chromecast will help verify the issue. If you verify congestion, we recommend contacting your Internet service provider to check your connection and upgrade it if needed.
Alternatively, you may also contact our Chromecast support team for further assistance if the issue proves to be persistent. We may need to take a much closer look at your Chromecast device and see how we can help you best. You're more than welcome to reach out to us here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp

Okay for the money
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The good: The GUI layout is more refined than Roku or Apple TV. The available apps are more or less on par with Apple TV and Roku (i.e. you get HBO max but no Nick Jr). The interconnectivity of this device and other google/nest products is nice. Google assistant works as expected. Remote has a mute button. The bad: The lack of multiple individual profiles on a new device/system is completely unacceptable. Hopefully this will be resolved in a update. The device can be somewhat laggy at times. No ethernet connectivity. No Wifi 6 radios. Some apps seem to misbehave (History channel app). I suspect this shall be fixed in a later update. Good or bad: The system/device is very youtube centric (bad for me because I don't use or care for youtube).

Best Ever
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of all streaming service devices... This is by far the best one. Easy to use and super efficient. It connects with your Google account which makes things easier. With no doubt, I will definitely buy one for every TV I own.

Buying It for Someone Else Sold Me On It
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Truly plug and play. I set it up for someone with not just zero tech knowledge, but something freaky like NEGATIVE tech knowledge, and they were able to use it immediately, so it's really intuitive. Now planning to get one for myself.

Great device and interface

Great add on
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased it for an older TV that does not get updates on Support. It has worked well since day one. The remote premium and good to hold. Setting it up with the Google app was extremely easy. I will definitely be gifting a few of these for the holidays

For my needs, this falls a bit short
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to replace a problematic MiBox S. The aux USB port on the MiBox was used with a powered hub to add video files and ethernet capability. Sadly the USB port no longer functions. In an attempt to duplicate this setup I bought this Chromecast with Google TV. A USB C hub with power pass through was necessary as well as a higher wattage power supply. To my chagrin this Chromecast will natively "see" only files formatted in FAT 32. This leaves out any media files over 4gb. I don’t understand why this is, The MiBox (when it was working) and the Dynalink, which I'm currently using on another set, both were able to access media formatted with NTFS. Not so with this device. Using streaming apps is unparalleled with the Chromecast. By contrast, using mirroring with an Android tablet playing a movie file showed sound synching problems. While this can be corrected in the TV settings, it's not an ideal situation. Am still trying to find a workaround that doesn't involve a NAS device.

Great option for 4K youtube TV
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is great for people who want to stream youtube tv and need 4k. There are less buttons and the volume is on the side of the remote, so it can be used somewhat intuitively in the dark even though it lacks backlighting.

Good product
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been a great purchase. I have an 8 year old smart tv. I decided to go streaming instead of boxes. I went through 3 Rokus in about 7 months. They kept dying out. When I needed to get yet another device, I decided to try Chromecast. So far it's been a great decision. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I can't seem to load Spectrum on it. A Geek Squad guy couldn't do it either. But, I can cast everything from my tablet or phone. That works fine, but a direct app would be preferable. Glad I decided to try this device!

Good streaming device with remote
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm upgrading from a Roku Ultra with this, it's quicker and easier to use than a Roku, plus I no longer need a Harmony remote to run everything.. it works well as a universal remote

Great but needs more storage.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent product. The remote is a good addition to the previous model. The only downside is the available on board memory is low and you may not be able to keep all the apps on the device that you'd expect.

The best streaming device available.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best streaming device available. The remote is amazing. The best part is that the integrated search function works across multiple apps. Finally a tech company gets it right. The price is nice too. I bought several to replace all of our Rokus.

Almost perfect
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product that works seamlessly w my other google smart accessories. The only downside is some apps don’t run as smoothly as they do on my Amazon firestick & the wifi cuts in and out on the google as well. Maybe i need A stronger router - I’m not sure. Other than that it’s a great media streamer & visually is very user friendly.
