    Parents love the chromecast, after having complaints about their smart TV being slow I got them this for xmas(2023). They haven't had buffering and issues with speed yet. They do dislike the remote as it is small, easy to lose, and doesn't have all of the buttons they are used to.

    I bought this so that I can hook it up to my external monitor to use it as the rear entertainment system. My setup: (1) Flat external monitor with built-in speaker and HDMI input. (2) This Chromecast with Google TV. (3) Minivan's LTE subscription (or you can tether to your smartphone using hotspot). Now my kids can watch YouTube or videos from other sources in the car in long road trips. Perfect.

    There's only two horses in this streaming race anymore, this and a roku. If you're invested in the Google ecosystem, this is better than the roku. As more apps get integrated in the universal search it will improve even more. The big one that's missing now are the live TV apps - YoutubeTV and Sling are integrated, but Fubo is not, yet I hope.
