Excellent streaming dongle. Fast, reliable and sturdy. The Chromecast with Google TV is a game changer in the streaming dongle race and in my opinion the one to beat. Set up is a is a breeze with the Google home app. The UI is fantastic and very intuitive, especially for a YouTube TV subscriber. It also brings all your content in one place in "for you" section. With seamless integration and the ability to add to a Google speaker group the Chromecast with Google TV is a definite must for any Google household.
The new remote is a very nice addition. Small but very easy to use. If you've ever use a remote like a Roku remote then you will feel right at home with the Chromecast remote the second you pick it up
You can definitely buy this with confidence.

Much better than the normal chromecast, this one has google tv interface and a control so it's much easier to use. It's also pretty quick. I only wish it had more storage, I often have to uninstall apps or go in and clear cache/data to free up room.

Great device. Will help those who don't have a smart TV. It is faster than Amazon Fire Stick 4k. The IU is really easy to navigate and looks great. Recommend to anyone trying to get smart dongle for the TV.

I love it. We had the original first generation Chromecast and this is a big step up. The remote and interface are easy to use and the added benefit of 4k support (when I get a 4k TV) will be great.

I am using the chromecast with google TV on a google tv. Surprisingly, works quite well. There is some clutter on the home screen- many different apps, suggested programs etc. But overall it works well and gives me the flexibility that has been missing in roku and apple tv etc. So far, I love it. and the portability is amazing. instead of taking a large device around with me i can put this in my pocket. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a ui that is not locked into a media device with ties to a particular brand.

This turns your smart TV into what you wish it should be. It's a full pledged Android device with custom UI. You can use BT and USB(with powered hub) peripherals, and the availability of many different app and some ability to customize the interface make it much more usable than smart tv interfaces or casting from your devices. The remote is pretty minimalist. I'd love it if they could incorporate small slide out keyboard.
I just wish more app was available. You can sideload most of the Android apps, but to be able to install apps from play store, the devs have to make explicit support for Android TV platform, and many hasn't bothered to yet.
All in all, a great addition to most TVs.

These are my preferred method of streaming media to the TV's in my house. I have these fitted in every room, and it makes streaming content an absolute breeze. The remote is great, my kids are able to navigate to their content easily. I typically cast from my phone, but both options are fantastic. The option to program the remote to also work on the TV itself as well as a soundbar leaves me with no complaints what so ever.

I think it's better than firetv 4k if you don't plan to use Alexa but fireTV works great with Alexa. I have both and Chromecast has a better user interface. I took a star off only because I just realized that streaming sucks in general. I should not have bought fireTV or Chromecast but a Roku ultra or above. People don't know that the cheaper the streamer the lower the bitrate and less quality video. Nvidia TV has the best quality video but it cost $200. Of course cable and fiber is probably better.

Hi there, Alex1joy. Thanks for your insightful review of the Chromecast with Google TV (4K). Your comparison with Fire TV 4K is valuable, and it's great to hear your thoughts on the user interface and Alexa integration. You mention noticing lower bit-rate and video quality on both devices compared to potentially higher-end streamers like Roku Ultra or NVIDIA Shield. This is an interesting observation that can vary depending on the specific streaming service, content and app. We hope that you continue to enjoy using your Chromecast. Great Quality of Life Features

I just bought this, but it works great so far and has a key feature that the reviews and google info didn't make clear what the capabilities are. For the power, input, and volume buttons you can each set them to specific devices. Either through HDMI (CEC control, not familiar) or IR through the remote. This was important to me because I have a soundbar wired through optical. I used to have 3 remotes, a Roku, TV, and soundbar remote, now I just have 1, which IMO is worth $50 just on its own.
One other cool feature, for at least Netflix, Google was able to port over my login from my google password sync. It didn't do that for the other services I use, but hopefully all of them adopt it because it was magical having it just work.

The TV portion works great, it was easy to install and configure. The only minor nit I have is that I wanted some native browser support via chrome and it doesn't allow that. Not a major issue if you are using it for casting/tv though.

Phenomenal piece of tech Google has created. I purchased this for my father. We cut the cable a couple years ago and have been using YouTube TV and other streaming services. He was connecting his phone to his old chromecast which admittedly gets annoying for everything you do. But with this new Chromecast, everything is right there without the need of connecting your phone. Super easy to set up and navigate. The main screen provides so many recommendations from all the streaming services. It's just great. I highly recommend it to any and everyone that use chromecasts on their homes.

Absolutely loved this product. I specifically bought this hardware to play Fortnite with my 7 year old son. I actually got this particular device as well as the Nvidia Shield Tv which is made to run GeForce Now which is the platform I use to participate in gaming. The $199 price tag on the Nvidia isn't even comparable to the $50 that this system cost me. It was outstanding in every way it possibly could be. It never had any system issues or hardware lags within the tiny shell. I am more than pleased with the purchase I made and would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to do some light gaming or simply enjoy a streaminh movie on any platform the Play store offers you!
