This is so much better than the Chromecast Ultra. Having a controller available, and not needing to worry about casting each video individually with a phone really make this feel like an eventual cable box replacement.

Got it just so I could watch Twitch on my $3000 dollar Samsung TV that for whatever dumb reason doesn't have Twitch on their app store. This Chromecast solved the problem.

I love it love it love it. I replaced my Roku, and I loved the Roku, but this is so much better. And, it saves the shows you were watching so you can pick it back up. 5 stars

Has some really great features. Shows you content from all different streaming services on one home screen. I also bought the ethernet adaptor which it doesn’t come with but has definitely improved the connection.

Bought for the sole purpose of casting an Oculus Quest to the TV, it works as advertised and the size is nice because you don't see it. Not sure why you have to use the USB brick that comes with it, why can't they all just get along

Totally worth the upgrade. The platform allows you to watch all of your streaming services in one place. I love the mic feature it saves me from having to look for what I am trying to watch.

Still able to cast from your phone but now organized with recommendations and a remote? Yes please! Great little device. Only downside is WiFi only. But they do offer an adapter if you need it. Sold separately.

Needs a channel up and down function on the remote. Vice either backings out to the main menu and then selecting the new channel or using the voice function to change channel. This is especially true when you are using your favorite channel list.

Works great. I have it plugged into a Pioneer receiver and does 7.1 surround....except on youtube, because youtube does not support any bass surrounds. Highly recommend. Much better than the first gen chromecast.

We were using a PS4 to stream content--a ridiculous waste of energy. This is better and quieter and works well

Cheapest and best smart tv device. Very smooth and supports 4K HDR 10+, HLG and Dolby Use a type c usb hub to unlock all its potential

The new device seems to be "Beta" quality at best. In the last 3 hours I've had it, I have run into a few issues: 1. The display keeps switching randomly to 1080p randomly. It comes back to 4K 60Hz on its own - it seems random but this is a big bummer. 2. Though I have turned on "Match content for Dynamic Range" setting, this does not work across all apps. For example, on Movie Anywhere, HDR/Dolby Vision does not kick in at all. It seems to work on Netflix most of the time though. 3. The GUI is clunky and sluggish compared to Apple TV 4K or Nvidia Shield Pro. When navigating, I've had the GUI freeze on me a dozen times in the last 3 hours. 4. The colors in HDR/Dolby Vision mode seem more muted than ATV/Shield. I am wondering if this has something to do with the Color Space not being switched properly or something? Tried it with my LG OLED as well as Samsung QLED - colors appear muted in HDR mode. 5. The Atmos seems to (slightly) lack punch compared to ATV (same with 5.1 surround). As someone pointed out on another thread, sound is loud but not as crisp as ATV. 6. I configured my Harmony Elite remote (Manufacturer: Google, Device: Chromecast with Google TV) - and the "back' button does not seem to work. Other than the aggregated view from various apps, so far I have not found anything worthy enough to replace my Apple TV 4K or Nvidia Shield with this device. I will probably return this and stay with my current devices.

Overall a great product, the remote works well and the UI is simple to manage. Has just about any streaming service you could want and easily searches all of them with the Google Assistant. But there are some issues, and when I say issues I mean bugs. Because Google TV is a new product many developers have not resolved small quality of life bugs. There are several examples of this, Amazon Prime has a bug that causes audio latency, Disney+ does not recognize my Atmos speakers, and many other apps have failed to recognize my displays resolution and HDR capabilities. None of these issues are Google’s fault, but they significantly detract from the overall experience. Ultimately the Google TV will be a great product, but right now there is a steep early adopters fee for those who have higher end tv and sound.

The 4K google chromecast is truly one of a kind, however, if your TV comes with all of the apps , you don’t necessarily need this. I will say the 4K quality is impeccable!

We were able to add all of our streaming apps to an older smart TV that did not support the new apps such as Disney+, Discovery+ and others. Set up took a little while, but was not difficult.

I bought it for my husband who is working in Israel, it is working great and he has never had any problems with it.

I purchased these Chromecast dealies so I can watch Spectrum Cable on my TVs without the Spectrum cable boxes. It’s a clumsy work around that is so lame & only necessary because Spectrum apparently has licensing disagreements with ROKU & other s Treating aps services that previously worked perfectly. These greedy companies with their proprietary devices are doomed to fail in the end, but in the meantime, I have to jump through all of these nonsensical hoops just to watch a baseball game. The Chromecast works most of the time, but sometimes doesn’t recognize the device that it is casting to, thus requiring a reboot of the various systems, thus resulting in missing live TV events & leading to disappointment, sadness & borderline melancholy. Life is certainly not perfect right now.

Good device if you already use google products. Also downloads android apps. NVidia GeForce now works on this as well so no need to pay $150+ for the NVidia shield.

This is my second purchase, I loved my chromecast so much I got another one for my parents! It’s great having an easy to use remote with all of the perks of having a smart tv. I definitely recommend!
