Excellent product. The remote is a good addition to the previous model. The only downside is the available on board memory is low and you may not be able to keep all the apps on the device that you'd expect.

The UI is really nice but there is a lot of glitchiness and its a little more difficult to cast directly from your phone. Its more of a firestik/Roku than a traditional chomecast. My old chromecast was gettung old so it was frequently shutting off. This chromecast will also randomly bave the sceen turn pink, which forces you to turn it off and on. Theres a lot of updates that will need to be implemented if we are being honest but its a great solution to most media needs. Ive even streamed steam link to the Chromecast, which works great on games like Stray or Bioshock but isnt bery great with fast paced games (Rocket League, Sekiro).

Hi there Jakevns, thanks for trying out the new Chromecast with Google TV (4K). We're glad to hear that you're liking the UI. However, we do apologize for the glitches and difficult experiences you had when casting from your mobile phone and when streaming fast paced games.

Chromecast typically requires a high speed Internet connection of at least 20 Mbps and a reliable Wi-Fi network connection. For faster paced games, it may even require a higher bandwidth. We recommend checking if your current Internet bandwidth is possibly congested, or that it may not be enough to enable the best viewing experience with Chromecast. Removing some of your connected devices to free up some bandwidth space, and trying out Chromecast will help verify the issue. If you verify congestion, we recommend contacting your Internet service provider to check your connection and upgrade it if needed.

Alternatively, you may also contact our Chromecast support team for further assistance if the issue proves to be persistent. We may need to take a much closer look at your Chromecast device and see how we can help you best. You're more than welcome to reach out to us here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp madebygoogle

    Chromecast with 4K!

Bought this primarily to upgrade my original Chromecast to the 4K version and watch HBO Max. Setup via your Google Home app is super easy. If you have multiple streaming services, this device aggregates them all on your watching dashboard. This could be a plus or a minus. However, you still have the ability to select your services individually to view their specific content. Picture and sound are excellent, with supported 4K resolution with Dolby Atmos and Vision. Some negatives: There is no hardwire network ability, which limits you to whatever WiFi speed you have. While watching WW84, there was some freezing and glitching and audio dropouts, requiring a restart a couple times. Also, not too thrilled about another tiny remote that can mysteriously disappear. Instead of a new remote, Google should look at integrating this with your cell phone and any Google Home devices already installed in the home. The voice recognition on the remote is still not perfect, generating some unwanted results. Overall, if you're already invested in the Google ecosystem at home this makes a great addition for casting and streaming.

I actually tripped over my Roku power cable and ripped the powercord in half. So, I decided to take a chance on this Chromecast with Google TV as a replacement for my Roku. After a day or two of getting used to the interface/navigation, I can honestly say, I'm glad I switched. Several highlights of this Chromecast with GoogleTV: - I love how easy it is for me to connect my Bluetooth headphones so I can listen to some of the shows in private. - I love being able to add android apps so that I can use apps like Locast and a browser (among other apps) that allow me to fill out my streaming options. - Now that Google has updated the device, I can now also access all my Stadia games and turn my TV into the main entertainment center. - Plus, the voice commands haven't failed me yet.

love this device! easy to set up, exactly as I needed, and so so so much cheaper than Apple TV. the only thing missing was the Criterion Channel, but the app allows you to cast from other devices, so it isn't a dealbreaker.

Finally decided to cut out cable TV. Went with streaming TV and the TV I’m using is older so had to get a device to stream more content. Easy to set up and compatible with streaming service. Only added feature needed is a back button to go back to the previous channel w/o going back to the menu.

This has been a great purchase. I have an 8 year old smart tv. I decided to go streaming instead of boxes. I went through 3 Rokus in about 7 months. They kept dying out. When I needed to get yet another device, I decided to try Chromecast. So far it's been a great decision. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I can't seem to load Spectrum on it. A Geek Squad guy couldn't do it either. But, I can cast everything from my tablet or phone. That works fine, but a direct app would be preferable. Glad I decided to try this device!

Been having a few issues with Amazon based streaming devices and didn't want to spend the money on another Nvidia Sheild and this released at just the right time. Fast, plays everything I've thrown at it, and I have had zero issues. Well worth it.

I’d give Chromecast w/Google TV a 4.99 Stars Rating, if I could. It’s a great streaming device. I’ve had no issues and every app that I use works effortlessly and meets my expectations & needs. I’m an Amazon user with multiple products throughout my house, so they are my go to for streaming devices. But this is a cool product.

I love the smoothness of using the chromecast with the remote. It makes it that much easier. I upgraded from a normal chromecast and I would highly suggest. I have a smart TV and I still prefer my chromecast over the smart Tv. Highly recommend.

Previously used a FireTV, Roku, and AppleTV and none came close to the ease of use, smoothness, and lack of brand-specific bloat (and brand war induced exclusion of some apps). The aggregated recommendations and search are fantastic! Get one.

Addresses all of the shortcoming of the previous generation of chromecasts now that it supports apps, has a remote, and let's you connect bluetooth headphones directly. I just wish it had an ethernet port directly on the unit instead of having to source one that also has power delivery.
