Using the Google TV interface requires you to log into youtube etc which is annoying. The remote feels cheap. Compared to it's competitors (amazon fire stick, roku), there isn't much that google TV adds except HBO max. However, the chrome cast functionality is a good reason to have this over other sticks.

Within the last week the Chromecast appears to be interfering with a Vizio sound bar. The solution is to unplug the Chromecast; turn on the TV and sound; then re-plug in the Chromecast. This has occurred 3x times inside the last month. Not sure what the cause is.

If you've set up Chromecast to control the volume settings on your soundbar, you might experience unexpected results because of a disparity between the Chromecast volume settings and the volume settings on your soundbar. For example, if you mute your TV with the remote that came with it and then try to change the volume with your voice, your TV might stay muted. You might want to try setting up the volume control settings again to fix the issue:
- To start setup, at the top right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings .
- Select Remotes & Accessories and then Set up remote buttons and then Volume control and then Chromecast Volume.

Wish they had made these years ago! Okay, back to my story- got this for my projector that we have in our bedroom. And it was the most perfect idea! We can get on whatever streaming service we want! So therefore, we enjoy watching things in the bedroom versus the living room.

Love the fact that i can control my tv or surround sound volume with the volume buttons and turn on/off as well. Great for different profiles to have the kids watch only approved channels.

I wasn't wowed by it but now that there's a version that includes Google TV and a remote, I'm a huge fan. It's very easy to use, provides great recommendations, and gives a ton of helpful information on things you search. Don't get the cheaper version, get this one!

Want to love this, but was disappointed

I paired this with a TCL tv with Android TV already installed as the native OS. I could not control the TV with the remote, which means i need two remotes (bummer), and i hate the way the dongle dangles (i couldn't help myself). I don't like the thought of an hdmi connection on my tv being pulled on by the chromecast. a rigid body like the Firestick would have made for better load distribution and a cleaner install. The other option is to run an hdmi cable to a tv stand or something and plug this in there with an adapter. It's a good option since you have to run the power cable anyway, but means more hardware to buy Operating the chromecast was easy, and i'm normally using the google assistant anyway, so this integrated perfectly. However, it was not a distinct enough improvement over my native os, so i had to return it
