It worked alright there. Finiky connecting to hotel wifi…these things shouldn’t be so finiky setting up, but whatever. I put it in the box and there it stayed for 6 months. Plugged it in at home last week. Updated it and all the relevant apps. Worked alright for one day. Then the remote started lagging….then quit entirely. Changed the batteries. Same issue. So I resorted to using my tv remote to control the chromecast. This worked for a couple days. Now, I have no picture, the light on the chromecast is on telling me there’s power to the little chunk of plastic (I have better words, but for this review I will maintain a G rating). For the frustration this device causes is not worth the couple of days or couple weeks you get in between spasms. If I could take it back to Best Buy and get a refund I would, but I’m a bit past the return date. All of these streaming devices have their inherent issues. They’re garbage. This technology has taken tv viewing from something that was relatively simple (turn on tv, turn channel until you find something of interest…to, turn on chunk of plastic, cross fingers that it connects to the internet, streams an image and sound….) the whole concept is garbage. The apps are updated from time to time but they just create more bugs than they fix. Same with the google os… nothing is tested anymore in the lab, it’s tested in my livingroom and I am tired of it. And tired of Best Buy selling this garbage with a smile on their face with their palms out. The google chromecast 4k is not a worthy device, it’s full of software bugs. And google’s engineers know it. Bottom line, find something better perhaps an antenna on your roof. Cause this thing at some point will frustrate you as it did me…mark my words.

If your TV screen is black or you're unable to get a signal when you try to set up or use your Chromecast device, try the troubleshooting steps below:
- Make sure the Chromecast is plugged using the power cord and power adapter that came with the Chromecast. The Chromecast should be plugged in directly to a power source.
- The LED light on the side of the Chromecast should be lit up.
- Make sure the TV is tuned to the same HDMI input as the Chromecast. On most remotes, this is done using the Input, Source or Menu button. You may have to cycle through a few inputs before you find the correct one (Example: HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.).
- If the TV still only shows a black screen after you've completed the above steps, reboot your Chromecast.
To reboot your Chromecast, unplug the power cord from the Chromecast device. Leave it unplugged for one minute before you plug the power cord back in. When you unplug the Chromecast from the TV’s HDMI port, it does not reboot the device. It must be disconnected from the power source in order to reboot.
