Disappointing device

I also own a couple Apple TVs. I should not have tried this device. It is by far the worst of the three. The picture, lags, constant, buffering, apps glitch. It is a pain in the neck to watch programs if you want to pause, rewind or return later and pick up where you left off. I had much less trouble with the Fire stick. But I should have spent the money on an Apple TV.

MOST apps dont correctly support Dolby Vision / HDR / 5.1 audio / Atmos properly even when the content is avaiable with those features. The only app that seems to work properly is Netflix. Prime Video, Disney+, Vudu, Youtube, even Google's own store doesnt stream the content properly. I've found that I need to use my Vizio OLED's built in Smart TV apps in order for it to stream with all the media features. On top of that, it crashes occasionally and you will have to reach back behind your set and unplug the power and plug it back in. Do yourself a favor and get a Nvidia Shield if you are looking for high-end media streaming.

Just don't like the fact that Hulu runs terrible on this device (black screen and just sound). I also find myself needing to restart more often this device more often than I would like.

You can try performing a power cycle on your Chromecast, and Wi-Fi router to refresh the connection:
- Unplug Chromecast and router from their power source.
- Leave them unplugged for one minute before plugging them back in.
If you're still experiencing the issue after doing the steps above, perform a factory reset on your Chromecast, then re-setup.
To reset:
- While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, press and hold the button on the back of the Chromecast. The LED will start blinking yellow.
- When the LED light turns solid white, release the button and the Chromecast will then reset.

Google has not figured out how to make this work for families when it logs into one Google account. They are also not updating it frequently to resolve bugs or install their monthly Android security updates, which is concerning. The remote is also not great.
