While this does what it needs to as a Chromecast, it is SLOW and laggy. A new version with a faster processor is really needed.

Very disappointed in the level of effort that Google seems to be investing in its newest products. The latest Chromecast is no exception. Everything about it feels cheap. The picture quality seems substandard; everything appears washed out and dull. The remote is awful: cheap plastic feel, and the design is ridiculously flawed. Compared to offerings from Apple and Amazon, this Chromecast feels like it's years behind.

Something is wonky with the picture quality, it says wifi excellent but the picture quality looks like 480p on my 4k screen. Nice to have a remote now instead of fumbling with phone apps. That's a plus.

      Hi inthecloud,

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us.

Chromecast with Google TV was designed to provide you with the best viewing experience watching your favorite movies and TV shows in 4K Ultra HD and 4K HDR resolution with your preferred streaming services. We recommend checking if your set up has the following items to ensure that you´re viewing on the highest resolution:
      - An HDMI port that supports both HDCP 2.2 and 60 frames per second (60 FPS). Note: If you're using an AVR or soundbar, those will also need to support HDCP 2.2.
      - A high-speed internet connection of at least 20 Mbps.
      - A high speed HDMI cable. Recommended length: Less than 6 ft. (1.8m)
      - Use only the power supply that was provided with your Chromecast with Google TV or Chromecast Ultra.

Should the issue persist, feel free to contact us and we´ll do our best to help fix the issue here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp madebygoogle

Hi there, ChristopherG. Thank you for sharing your review on Chromecast with Google TV (4K). We're sorry to learn that you're experiencing some lag issues with the device. We suggest checking if any app updates are in progress as this might make navigating or using the interface slower. You should also check any system updates as well. Another helpful tip is to uninstall apps that you don't use.

If you've done these steps before, we can also suggest expanding your Chromecast's storage. You will need a:

-Compatible USB-C hub with a power delivery port
      -USB-C charger (higher than 1.5 A/7.5 W).
-Portable storage device, such as a USB stick or SD card.(If you use a USB storage device, use USB 2.0 or greater speeds)

If you need further assistance or have additional inquiries, please don't hesitate to contact us on our Google Nest Help page for immediate support: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp madebygoogle

This was useless, for my needs. I thought I could use it for laptop to TV viewing. I did not know that an adapter was available that was USB-C to HDMI. and less money. The ChromeCast was good for those who wanted all those extras, which I did not need.

Hi Anderson, thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to learn that you’re having connectivity issues with your Chromecast with Google TV.

For connectivity issues, it may be related to both the limited bandwidth caused by a congestion of your network or a possible interference. We recommend trying out the following:
      - Remove some of your connected devices to free up some bandwidth space and test if you will experience the same issue. Chromecast typically requires a high speed Internet connection of at least 20 Mbps. If you verify congestion, we suggest contacting your Internet service provider for resolution.
      - Check for possible signal interference. Placing Chomecast in a direct line of sight to your router and away from other possible sources of interference like a refrigerator, microwave oven, etc. might improve signal reception.

If the issue still persists, we may need to take a closer look at your device. You can contact our support team anytime using this link: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp madebygoogle

I have tried everything to get it to work. The majority of my Google TV purchases are missing on this device; however, all my purchases are visible on my Android phone (S20 Ultra). I called Google and they transfered me to four different people and departments. Somehow I was transferred to the Nest team, how this happened I will never know. I was really trying to move from Apple and the iPhone but this might be my breaking point. As I fairly technical, I did everything Google would want me to do, now I have to jump throught all the hoops all over again.

Obviously remotes have been around for a WHILE. If this is your first chromecast you won't understand this review. We have had this version of chromecast for about a month because our old one gave out after years. Lets talk about the goods and bads. Good: 1. Has a main menu. 2. Recommends what to watch on all signed in platforms. That was quick.... Bads: 1. Disconnects from the internet, almost DAILY. like I have to consistently go back and click on my network just for it to say its connected. 2. It takes over other google devices, let me explain below. 3. Its a remote.....a smooth remote on top on that. More thoughts below. 4. Won't connect to certain apps, as if it just wont load past the company name. 5. Don't lose the remote, treat it like your nextborn child. 6. Having to login into every app all over again is great. Reference to #2: We live in an apartment with one google home and one google display. This version of chromecast overrides any action you tell the home and display to do. Ex. "Hey Google, turn on TV." She will respond as if she completes your voice action, nothing happens. You must use the remote to the tv or this chromecast's remote. #3: Google lined this remote with the same product that Griswald used on the bottom of his sled in xmas vacation. Final thought, just dont get the remote version. You will be annoyed. If you end up loving it, cool, youre an anomaly.

This Chromecast is still a work in progress. On the ESPN app, if you pause for more than 5 minutes, the Chromecast screensaver appears, and Chromecast doesn’t save where you paused! You have to go back to the app and fast forward from the beginning to try to find where you paused. Also, Chromecast doesn’t show the program while fast forwarding; you just have to guess based on time. Even worse, despite no picture while fast forwarding, after a few seconds Chromecast hides the time bar and fast forward controls (all controls like play, pause and fast forward are on screen, not on the remote).

Hi Jwc96, thanks for your feedback. We're sorry for the troubles this issue has caused you. By default if the app or the content supports Dolby Vision, your Chromecast with Google TV can automatically play it in that format.

We recommend the following troubleshooting steps:

      - Check weak or congested networks. Removing some of your connected devices may help relieve congestion.
      - Check for possible sources of interference such as microwave ovens, refrigerators or other equipment.
      - Make sure that your Chromecast is receiving power directly from your wall outlet and not the USB port from your TV.
      - Plug the Chromecast with Google TV to a different HDMI port on the TV.
      - If you have a dual band router, try setting up Chromecast with Google TV on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands and see which band is more stable.
      - If your Chromecast with Google TV is still having the same issue, please see instructions on how to factory reset your Chromecast with Google TV here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6254654

If the issue persists, we'll be happy to assist you further and help you in the best way possible. Please reach out to our support team here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp madebygoogle

      Hi ZJRL,

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. We understand how that could be frustrating. Lag issues are oftentimes caused by different factors. We recommend checking on the steps below:

      - Chromecast with Google TV requires a high speed Internet connection of at least 20 Mbps. This will also depend on the number of devices you are running. We recommend contacting your Internet provider for resolution.
      - Weak or congested networks. Removing some of your connected devices may help relieve congestion.
      - Check for possible sources of interference such as microwave oven, refrigerator or other equipment.
      - If you have a dual band router, try setting up Chromecast with Google TV on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands and see which band is more stable.

If none of the steps fix the issue, please reach out to our support team for further troubleshooting and isolation here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp madebygoogle

      - Get personal recommendations based on content you enjoy.
      - Ask for a specific title or search by mood, genre, actor, and more by simply asking the Google Assistant, ¨Hey Google! What should I watch?¨ or ¨Hey Google! Find action movies.¨.
      - Cast from thousands of compatible Android and iOS apps directly from your phone, laptop, or tablet.
