    Need better information on compatability

    Streaming device was not compatible with our older (6 or 7 years) TV - so returned the product. Best Buy was good on the return. Online specifications could have been better to set out which TVs this is compatible with.

    Right now this device is not doing me any good since I can't get shows to show without alot of stops and goes. I've tried my phone wifi and my satellite internet. Maybe when I get broadband.

      To ensure you get the best experience, we recommend having the following requirements:
      - A mobile phone or tablet running Android 6.0 or later, or iPhone or iPad with iOS 12.0 or later version.
      - An active Gmail account. You may encounter issues using a G-Suite account.
      - Ensure that you have an updated version of the Google Home app.
      - A high speed Internet connection of at least 20 Mbps. Mobile hotspots and Captive portal networks are not compatible with Chromecast devices.
      - A strong Wi-Fi network connection.
      - A TV with High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) 1.3 or higher built-in. HDCP 2.2 is required to support 4K content. Most televisions that are five years old or newer and have HDMI ports will have at least one port that supports HDCP 2.2.

    It does the job. The remote is actually quite good. However their platform seems to be unstable. Twice since purchase I’ve had to reset the device because of a bad update.

    I heard this was a good streaming device; however, the one I ordered didn't work and I had to return it. Wound up buying a different brand.

    I had to return the first one. Most of the time when I turned the TV on the screen color would be purple and green. I returned it for another one and it seems to be fine. Other than that nothing to get excited about.

    Easy to use, quick to load and snappy. Only problem is the volume control isn't working with my 2015 Vizio M series as an FYI. I use a sound bar separately, but just a note.

    I have a gen 1 and the ultimate/stadia one as well and this one is by far the most glitchy. Day two of owning it an error screen popped up and was on the phone with Google support for an hour. It loses internet connection daily but everything else on my wifi isn't having issues. Love the idea and it reminds me of my apple TV with the menu but after struggling with it for a month I'm back to using the ultimate.

    Audio Codec Support

    Audio codecs such as Dolby and DTS do not work in apps like Vudu and Movies Anywhere. This is one of the few things holding this item back. Until an update/fix is released I won't be using the product.

    Memory Issues

    I used this for several months and I liked the bright beautiful picture. Then I started to have problems with a spinning symbol in a major streaming video app and not loading. Maybe an update or something caused it. Rebooting seemed to help, but then it happens again. Also seems short on memory for downloading apps.

      A range issue or wireless interference can cause your Chromecast to have performance issues. Sometimes it may pass the connection test during setup, but will struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away. You may also check for objects such as mirrors and refrigerators between the Chromecast and your router as these items could block the connection. For more help, read Troubleshooting wireless interference here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9276282

      We also suggest clearing the app cache that might help as having a sizable amount of cache stored, would affect its performance. Here’s how:
      - From the Google TV home screen, in the top right, go to the user profile icon and select Settings.
      - Select Apps and choose the app you're having trouble with.
      - If you can't find it, select See all apps.
      - Select Clear cache and then Ok.
      - If clearing the app cache didn't work, you can try to reset your Chromecast with Google TV by following the steps here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6254654
