Love and Hate

But there is one huge negative and that is the slippery oddly shaped remote control. the wheel at the top is pretty design but functionally inept as the remote slips and you often miss your target. The volume control is on the slopping side of the remote is uncomfortable to use and hard to distinguish between up and down volume. So Google, fix the remote and you get 5 stars.

Needs better audio compability with hbo max.

You may find these steps helpful to ensure that you’re using your preferred audio formats whenever the content you play supports it.
Other than setting up your receiver with the Chromecast, you may also adjust the sound format (surround sound and manual) settings to get surround sound. The steps below will help adjusting the sound format using your Voice Remote:
- Go to Settings.
- Select Display and Sound.
- Select Advanced sound settings.
- Select Format selection.
- Then select between Automatic, Never, or Manual to choose formats from available formats.
- Under the various sound settings range, toggle the buttons to either on or off. For example, Dolby Atmos in Dolby Digital Plus, AAC, Dolby Digital.

It's great, but not 4k ready.

No AT&T TV

Wait for a update or two

It’s a new android build and they are piecemeal on patching the things they overlooked in roll out. Other then the apps. Nice streamer. Can access google nest and best cameras through the tv with ease. As well as the google home app that actually lets you see camera feed in app compared to amazon and Alexa app that doesn’t which is stupid.

Sad attempt by Google

Really wanted to enjoy this, as I thought Google was finally upping their game to start competing with Roku and FireTV, but based on how cheap the components are, I'm surprised they didn't just stick with regular Chromecasts. In short, save yourself the trouble, and stick with a traditional Chromecast, or just go with a Roku, FireTV, or other Android TV box.

We recommend resetting your Chromecast and Voice Remote to help fix the issue. You may follow the steps below to perform the reset.
With the Voice Remote:
- In the upper right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings .
- Select System and then About and then Factory Reset.
From the Chromecast device:
- While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, press and hold the button on the back of the Chromecast. The LED will start blinking yellow.
- When the LED light turns solid white, release the button and the Chromecast will then reset.

If you’re willing to try, we recommend connecting the Ethernet adapter for your Chromecast directly to your router, to see if you will get a connection.
You may also want to try some troubleshooting steps below to see if your Chromecast can connect via Wi-Fi connection:
- Move your router to within 20 feet of your Chromecast.
- Check for possible interference as thick walls and other connected devices may weaken the Wi-Fi signal from your router to the Chromecast device.
- Check for possible congestion with your Wi-Fi network.

Software glitches. Unable to help me.

Call them and they blame the TV but I have an amazon firestick and does not do that, it is a glitch on the software, because I tried with another chromecast and same result. I have to stick woth the firestick due chromecast not working as efficiently compared to the chromecast.

Not what I expected.

I wanted to like this device, but I could not Chromecast to my TV. I actually went backwards and went to the Chromecast instead of using this. When you try to Chromecast to this device, it brings up menus on your TV instead of opening up the video itself. I wish they could’ve made it better, but you’ll have a better option of getting the Chromecast instead

Likely QC issue

Purchased Chrome Cast as the Wi-Fi connection of our Bravia has been declining rapidly. Chrome Cast set up is quick and easy, connects to network no problem but picture via HDMI ports is scrambled jitters. Have reproduced the same results on other TV in house, likely a quality control issue in manufacturing.

Works fine until glitch comes up

Sometime it glitches and showing blue screen. I need to restart the device manually to fix this (temporarily works, but still show up again). I will bring this to the store as suggested by the live chat agent I talked earlier.

Loses Wi-Fi connection, poor set-up process

Kept dropping wi-fi connection, even though it's maybe 25 ft away from router. As a comparison, a 2 yo Roku stick in the Basement has no wi-fi issues at all. Set up process was terrrible! Interface with Google Home didn't work (current version installed) and required manual inputs for everything. After over 1 hour for a set up process (!), it kept losing the wi-fi signal and got buffering and the spinning "thinking" wheel on screen. Looking online for help, the best Google-provided suggestion was to do a "Factory Reset". I JUST BOUGHT IT - HOW CLOSER TO FACTORY CONDITION CAN YOU GET???? Really expected much better than this. Looking at the new Fire Stick 4k Max, especially with Roku's current fight with You Tube. Returned, Best Buy was very good about accepting it.

Poor Streaming Device

First, Dolby Atmos, or Digital for that matter, does not work. The only thing that this device outputs is stereo, that is it. Secondly, Amazon prime does not work on this at all. The guide shows up, you can scroll through it, but trying to watch a show is impossible. The screen always shows an error message. Third, the picture quality is not as good as Apple TV, or Roku 4K. Overall a huge disappointment.

For you to enjoy true Dolby Atmos surround, you would need to ensure that the TV, audio receiver and the actual content are capable of Dolby Atmos surround. We advise to check the format of the video content you are attempting to watch. There are some 4K video contents that use 5.1 surround sound. And there are also videos that are true Dolby Atmos surround. The Chromecast with Google TV is capable of handling Dolby Atmos surround sound but it will adapt to whatever audio format the content has.
