Weak signal on 5G network, drops connection regularly, even right next to the router. 2.4G is too busy in my neighborhood and equally bad despite strong signal. A Unfortunately I didn’t install until after Best Buy’s return policy as I awaited a new tv, due to the fact that the tv Best Buy supposedly had I. Stock at my local store was not there the day I went to pick it up. Tried with Google ‘customer service’ and after hours of chats and phone calls and being redirected to yet another person telling me to reset, restart, try on a different TV, bla bla, I’m told to send it back to Google and they will send me a replacement B stock. What a horrible experience with Google. I can only hope someone at Best Buy who understands what a hassle Google is will see this and offer to exchange. It is useless. Now using my TV apps. Live and learn. My old chromecast downstairs has stronger signal than this.

Hi there, TeganB. Thanks for reaching out. We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue on Chromecast with Google TV (4K).

Some app issues can be related to the subscription issues as well. You may want to try logging in to another Chromecast device, mobile phone or tablet device to see if you will experience the same issue. However, if the app issue you're experiencing doesn't seem to be related to your YouTube Kids subscription, then we recommend resetting Chromecast with Google TV (4K) to try and fix the issue. Keep in mind that resetting it will erase all data and that you may need to set it up right after the reset process. To reset, follow the steps below:
      With the Chromecast Voice Remote:
      - On the top right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings.
      - Select System and then About and then Factory Reset.
      From the Chromecast device:
      - While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, press and hold the button on the back of the Chromecast. The LED should start to blink yellow.
      - When the LED light turns solid white, release the button, and the Chromecast should then reset

Bought this device in July of 2021. In January 2022 it began having issues streaming. Under settings it says the connection to wifi is "Excellent", but when you try to stream it just sits and spins until it says "No Internet Connection". Can stream just fine with any other PC, tablet, or phone in the house. Restarted the network and Chromecast and no improvement. Ran a speed test from my Google Home Wifi app and it says the connection to the Chromecast is running at 48kbps. Then tested the connection to my ISP and am at over 200Mbps. So something is goofed up with the wifi signal. When it worked it was great. Would have given it 5 stars when it worked. Dropped to 1 star because it is impossible to get support from Google. When you try to contact them you get stuck in a loop going back to the same article over and over again.

Hi Sweeperq, thanks for sharing the details of your feedback about the Chromecast with Google TV, and we’re sorry to hear of your poor experience with its connectivity.

We suggest the following steps that might improve the connectivity of your Chromecast:
      - If you have a dual band router, try setting up your Chromecast on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands and see which band is more stable.
      - Check for possible congestion with your Wi-Fi network. Removing some of your connected devices may relieve network congestion.
      - Check for possible interference as thick walls and other devices in your home may weaken Wi-Fi signals.
      - Bring your Chromecast closer to your router to get better signal reception from your router.
      - Restart your Chromecast and your Wi-Fi router. Unplugged the devices from the power outlet. Leave them unplugged for at least a minute before plugging them back in.

We also suggest clearing the app cache that might help as having a sizable amount of cache stored, would affect its performance. See the steps below:
      - From the Google TV home screen, in the top right, go to the user profile icon and select Settings.
      - Select Apps and choose the app you're having trouble with.
      - If you can't find it, select See all apps.
      - Select Clear cache and then Ok.
      - If clearing the app cache didn't work, you can try to reset your Chromecast with Google TV by following this step by step guide here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6254654

If additional help is still required after trying the steps above, we recommend contacting our support team using this link: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp madebygoogle

      2. Remove the batteries from the remote.
      3. Press and hold the Home button Voice remote home button.
      4. While holding the button, reinsert the batteries.
      5. Hold the button while the LED light is solid.

I have owned all the prior Google Chromecast, but none of them had support for True Atmos pass-through. As soon as I heard that this new version would have it I picked it up and have been enjoying it ever since. The only negative thing is that there are some quirks in it were I would have to unplug it and replug it for it to pull up the main screen on my Samsung TV, I'm sure that will be resolved in a future software update.

Ive owned a classic Chromecast for years now. I purchased the new Chromecast 4K as soon as it came out. The user interface is decent when it works. The video quality is great and an obvious improvement over the classic Chromecast HD. Unfortunately, the WiFi repeatedly disconnects even as my old Chromecast in the same room stays connected. Sometimes an app will stall requiring a reboot of the Chromecast. The remote stopped working entirely after a week, and would not respond to repairing attempts. After two months, the Chromecast no longer boots and I have the orange light of death. Making a warranty claim with Google is a painful process. I spend my days troubleshooting tech, and I generally want my home to Just Work. I've switched to a small Linux PC with 4K output (Intel NUC) and I'm very happy with the quality and stability. tl;dr: It looks great but it was not worth the time I spent troubleshooting it.

Compared to the Apple TV 4K, Chromecast has a long way to go. I purchased this originally because I was looking for a product that easily connected with the rest of my Google setup. I ended up returning it because I did not enjoy the set up, user interface or overall quality. I will consider trying Chromecast again if Google works on improving these issues.

I love the menu layout and functions of the Chromecast. Seeing all my options from ally of my streaming subscriptions on the main menu is awesome! But the Bluetooth remote is TERRIBLE!!! It consistently unpairs (if that is a word) from the Chromecast and TV and I have to use the Android TV app on my phone to re-pair the remote. I would not recommend until Google has fix the issue with the remote.

Hi CB716, thanks for reaching out. We’re glad you loved the menu layout and functions for Chromecast with Google TV. However, we do apologize for the poor experience with the Bluetooth pairing issue.

If you’re willing to try, here are some suggested steps that may be helpful with the Bluetooth pairing issue:
      1. Check for Chromecast remote updates under Google TV settings, Remotes and Accessories.
      2. Perform a factory reset on the remote. In the upper right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings. Select System > and then About > and select Factory Reset.
      3. Pair Voice Remote with Chromecast and perform the following steps below after pairing:
      - Check that the batteries in the remote have remaining charges.
      - Remove the batteries from the remote.
      - Press and hold the Home button Voice remote home button.
      - While holding the button, reinsert the batteries.
      - Hold the button while the LED light is solid.
      - When the light starts pulsing, release the button.

If your Voice Remote still disconnects from Chromecast with Google TV, we recommend contacting our support team for further isolation and troubleshooting here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp madebygoogle
