    Great picture bla bla doesn’t work very well otherwise. I’ll start a movie or series on ANY app (so it’s not the developer) and the audio will run while the frozen screen shows progress as if it was buffering. Bluetooth audio disconnects randomly or stays connected and makes no sound. I don’t know what else to say. This wasn’t ready for market

      Thanks for letting us know of the issues you’re experiencing with your Chromecast with Google TV.

      We recommend performing a factory reset on both the Chromecast and the Voice Remote to isolate any software issues.

      To reset the Chromecast:
      1. Go to Settings.
      2. Select System.
      3. Select About.
      4. Select Factory reset (this is the third option on the About screen).
      5. Select Factory reset again, then Erase everything to confirm.

      To reset the Voice Remote:
      1. Check that the batteries in the remote have remaining charges.
      2. Remove the batteries from the remote.
      3. Press and hold the Home button.
      4. While holding the button, reinsert the batteries.
      5. Hold the button while the LED light is solid.
      6. When the light starts pulsing, release the button.

      After performing the factory reset, you should be able to go through the regular setup process again.

    I liked it but it felt like the Home Screen was too dark with the black background and I could barely hear half of the stuff I’ve watched. My best choice would have to go with Roku or Apple TV 4K than Google

    The Google Chromecast with Google TV is the best streaming device solution under $100. Get a similar quality an software experience of an Apple TV at a 1/3 of the price.

    Not as good as the ultra

    Apart from the remote, the old chrome cast ultra was better. This has no ethernet plug in the power supply like the ultra, so you are forced to use wifi. As a result setup was a pain. The cord supplied between the power brick and the chrome cast is too short too, can't run it in a conduit so now I have an ugly wire hanging from the tv..

    I just want a simple streaming device with a menu that consists of a few tiles for my favorite streaming apps. This thing is like 90% advertisements for content I will never watch. I usually don't mind Google/Android stuff, but paying $50 for them to shove ads in my face is absurd.

    Don't believe the hype

    For all the hype, I'm disappointed. By the time I realized that some apps don't work at all (NBC sports) and some are very glitchy (Netflix), it was too late to return it. I've also grown to hate the cluttered recommendation UI, and if you turn it off you can't use search at all. Too expensive for just a casting receiver.

    Screen tends to freeze and mirroring must be rebooted. Could be associated wi-fi.

      Your Chromecast with Google TV was designed to provide you with a smooth experience. We recommend trying out some helpful steps below:
      - Ensure that your Chromecast is connected to your 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.
      - Remove other connected devices on your Wi-Fi network and see if you will still encounter the same issue. Should you verify congestion, then we recommend contacting your internet service provider for resolution.
      - We recommend a Wi-Fi network with 25 Mbps download speed that can ensure smooth 4K experience.
      - If it does not work, you may try restarting your Chromecast by going to Settings > System > Restart.
      - If it's still unresolved, perform a factory reset on the Chromecast with Google TV.
      a. While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV, hold down the button on the Chromecast device for at least 25 seconds or until the solid LED light turns into a flashing red light.
      b. Once the LED light turns blinking white and the TV goes blank, release the button. The Chromecast device will begin the reboot sequence.

    I really liked it at first, it's snappy and seemed to work better and the Android TV built into my HiSense tv. Lately it has been crashing daily, I also can get any of my Plex content on the home screen like I can with Android TV

      There could be several reasons that can affect the performance and connectivity of your Chromecast and we’d like to rule out the possibility of your Wi-Fi connection being the cause of this issue. We suggest trying the simple steps below:
      - Check for possible interference. Appliances like your microwave oven, refrigerator or even your neighbors Wi-Fi network may cause interference with your Chromecast.
      - Check for possible congestion. Removing some of your connected devices may help relieve some bandwidth space and you may check if your experience will improve.
      - Ensure that your Chromecast is in a line of sight with your Wi-Fi router to get the best signal strength and Wi-Fi coverage.
      - Restart your router, mobile phone and Chromecast.

      We also suggest clearing the app cache that might help as having a sizable amount of cache stored would affect the performance of your Chromecast. Please see the steps below:
      - From the Google TV home screen, in the top right, go to the user profile icon and select Settings.
      - Select Apps and choose the app you're having trouble with.
      - If you can't find it, select See all apps.

    chromecast is disappointing

    I was excited about getting this but after getting it I was let down. Not all that it is advertised and challenging to get through the menu. I still have not gotten it to chromecast a movie from my phone. Worked on it some time and decided to workaround. I wish I had taken the product back.

      - Turn off Power Saving Mode. As it can limit the processing power of casting devices which might affect the performance of the device.
      - Decrease the distance between the TV, router, and your Chromecast with Google TV.

    Not easy to connect to my oculus

    I had the old Chromecast and decided to buy me a new one, but I was unable to connect it to my oculus two. There are some additional features that are nice but that’s not the reason I bought it.

      Oculus is not officially compatible with Chromecast devices. It may or may not work.     Too many apps crash...particularly Apple TV. Called Google tech support as well with not much help. Finally succumbed and bought the Apple TV 4K player and have had zero issues since then. I guess you get what you pay for....
