    Slow and horrible remote. Pass.

    Thought I’d give this a try, not very impressed with it. The remote is horrible. The interface is very slow. It doesn’t auto detect frames per second on Movies you have to manually set it at 24 frames per second or 60 frames per second. Contacted Google and they seemed not to care about video quality playback. If you want something cheap that’ll get the job done, maybe it’s for you. I’ll stick to my Apple products

    Cant lose with Google. It’s definitely a step up from the Nexus player I have. Shows in great detail. A great by in my opinion.

    Rebooting, glitching & picture quality issues.

    Glitched out after about a month or so. Kept rebooting and when it did work the picture had glitching lines at top of screen. After investigating, it turns out the Device was crashing my wifi causing everything to disconnect. All troubleshooting failed. Went back to Fire Stick and all is well. Also, Best Buy would not accept a return. Grade F for both corps.

      We apologize for the poor experience you had with your Chromecast with Google TV. We recommend trying out a few troubleshooting steps below that might helpful in fixing the issue:
      - If your router supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz, make sure your Chromecast is on the 5 GHz network.
      - Move your Chromecast further away from the back or side of your TV, and make sure it is not touching other devices, wires or cables. These devices may cause Wi-Fi or Bluetooth interference.
      - Check that your wireless network can support the number of devices connected to it. If you’ve connected many devices to your network, you might need to set up a mesh network, like Google Wifi, for better wireless coverage.
      - Move your router to within 20 feet of your Chromecast.
      - Update your router’s firmware, if needed. Sometimes routers have bugs, and there are firmware fixes to address them. Make sure your router is running the most updated software.
      - Reset your modem or router by following your device manufacturer’s instructions.
      - Perform a reset on both your Chromecast device and Voice Remote.
      - You may also use an Ethernet adapter to connect your Chromecast to your router. This will give you a direct, hardwire connection to the internet and will alleviate your home Wi-Fi network.

    Buffering / Terrible Streaming / Poorly Executed

    I have enterprise-grade Unifi / Ubiquiti wifi (WAP) and networking equipment deployed at my home. wifi has never been an issue, but with this product it consistently buffers/stops the video being streamed about every 20 seconds. Online research shows this is a known issue. Great value if it worked -- but it doesn't. It is going back to Best Buy tomorrow. I'll spend 3x the amount to have a product that works in the AppleTV. The UI is pretty poor too within this product. The experience could be a little easier to navigate around.

      We recommend performing a factory reset to further isolate the issue. Here's how you can do it:

      With the Chromecast Voice Remote:
      - In the upper right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings .
      - Select System and then About and then Factory Reset.

      From the Chromecast device:
      - While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, press and hold the button on the back of the Chromecast. The LED will start blinking yellow.
      - When the LED light turns solid white, release the button and the Chromecast will then reset.

    Too little memory

    It is capable of having about two dozens of apps installed and that's pretty much it (I have about twenty now and I'm out of storage space on this device already). That was a real discovery for me, since I was used to way more on my old Roku. I would have returned this device, but hey this is BestBuy, right? So I enjoyed only a couple weeks of return period and that's it, compared to 3 months on WalMart or a month on Amazon. So good to know for my future shopping how to do better next time, BestBuy.

      If you´re willing to try, a good alternative would be to install some of your streaming apps on an Android phone or tablet that you may have, and casting your Android screen to mirror your Android device to the TV. Check out the steps below:
      - Get started by installing your preferred app on your Android or tablet device. To turn on microphone permissions on your Android device, tap Settings >
      Scroll down and tap Apps > and then Google Play Services > and then Permissions. Look for ""Microphone"" and slide the slider On.
      - Cast your screen from your Android device. Make sure your mobile phone or tablet is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast device.
      Open the Google Home app > tap the device you want to cast your screen to >
      tap Cast my screen > and then Cast screen.

    Somewhat of a downgrade from the normal Chromecast

    I really don't like how this Chromecast went in the direction of a whole smartTV on a dongle. With my regular 1080p Chromecast it just displays basically a screensaver and then is super snappy when I cast content from my phone. With the smart TV features it seems like it adds a lot of bloat and decreases performance for actualling casting things, which is what I bought it for. Oh well.

      A range issue or wireless interference can cause your Chromecast to have performance issues. Sometimes it may pass the connection test during setup, but will struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away. You may also check for objects such as mirrors and refrigerators between the Chromecast and your router as these items could block the connection.       We also suggest clearing the app cache that might help as having a sizable amount of cache stored, would affect its performance. Here’s how:
      - From the Google TV home screen, in the top right, go to the user profile icon and select Settings.

      - Select Clear cache and then Ok.

    A waste of money

    This is a piece of junk. Hulu app would never work right. Volume level would vary depending on app. Dies a week after last return date. Not to mention the horribly small size of remote.

If it's still the same, please proceed with resetting your Google Nest Hub by pressing and holding both volume buttons together, at the back of the Nest Hub, for about 10 seconds.     Most apps do not support Dolby vision. This should never have been released before apps were matured. Back to the store you go.

    Today I hated this product. I restarted my modem. I restarted my iPhone several times. I unplugged the product several times. My TV was not seeing Chrome cast over and over. So I could not watch YouTube. Eventually, it worked. I would not tell anyone to buy this. It’s too needy and requires lots of patience.

    Major dissapoiment due to basic feature.

    I'd give this zero stars if I could. You can't control the TVs volume via the HDMI??? This means no sound control via voice or your phone. Who decided to launch this with out this basic feature? Sad to say I'm returning the device simply because of this feature. Also at this price why not just add a mic so you can turn on the screen without the need of a Google speaker or your phone or remote.

      Hi ThyFonz,

      Thank you for sharing your experience with us. You’ll be able to control the volume of Chromecast with Google TV in different ways including, voice control via Google Assistant app in your phone or tablet or using a Google/Nest speaker. Aside from that, you can use the Voice Remote Volume button and via touchscreen control, if you have a Google Assistant smart display.

      Here's how:

      - At the top right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings .
      - Select Remotes & Accessories > Set up remote buttons > Volume control > Chromecast Volume.

      Chromecast Voice Remote has a microphone that you can use to talk to Google, control your TV, search and more.
      Although turning on Chromecast via voice control using the voice remote isn't supported, turning off your TV with voice command works. HDMI-CEC should be enabled in the TV settings to the devices to communicate with the TV via HDMI.
