It's constantly trying sell you stuff you already own. If you have Disney+ and search for "Lion King" it will pull up something to sell you on google before suggesting Disney+. Don't expect it to work with your TV menu either.

Hi Latenser, thanks for taking the time to post your feedback here, and we're sorry to learn that your experience with using the Chromecast with Google TV has not met your expectations.

In Apps only mode, you won’t get personalized recommendations. A list of installed apps that you can open to find something to watch is listed. Sponsored content and teasers for popular movies and shows are also shown. You won’t find Google’s personalized recommendations on your home screen, but apps can still show your personalized recommendations and track your watch history. These options include YouTube, YouTube TV, and other Google apps.

We suggest checking the settings to make sure that “Apps only” mode on your Chromecast is off:
      - Go to Settings.
      - Select Accounts and Sign In.
      - Select the Google TV Account.
      - Select Your services.
      - Select the service / media provider to toggle it on and allow Chromecast with Google TV to recommend shows and movies from that service.
      - Toggle Apps only mode off as this won’t get you personalized recommendations but rather some sponsored content and teasers for popular movies and shows.

We're always here to help improve your viewing experience. If additional help is needed, or for any concerns you may have, don’t hesitate to let us know anytime at: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp madebygoogle

What a joke! 10 times more difficult to set up than Roku streaming stick +. Ties up my phone in order to watch TV. All kinds of buffering issues and no access to a TV channel unless you already own one. Roku comes with a great deal of free access. Will be returning in item!!!!

      Hi concertsalt,

Thanks for your feedback. We´re sorry to hear of the video issue with your Chromecast with Google TV.

If your TV screen is black or you're unable to get a signal when you try to set up or use your Chromecast device, try the troubleshooting steps below:
      - Make sure the Chromecast is plugged using the power cord and power adapter that came with the Chromecast. The Chromecast should be plugged in directly to a power source.
      - The LED light on the side of the Chromecast should be lit up.
      - Make sure the TV is tuned to the same HDMI input as the Chromecast. On most remotes, this is done using the Input, Source or Menu button. You may have to cycle through a few inputs before you find the correct one (Example: HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.).
      - If the TV still only shows a black screen after you've completed the above steps, reboot your Chromecast by unplugging the power cord from the Chromecast device. Leave it unplugged for one minute before you plug the power cord back in. Note: When you unplug the Chromecast from the TV’s HDMI port, it does not reboot the device. It must be disconnected from the power source in order to reboot.
      - Lastly, we recommend performing a factory data reset on your Chromecast with Google TV to see if it might help with the issue. Here's how:
      With the Chromecast Voice Remote:
      1. In the upper right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings.
      2. Select System and then About and then Factory Reset.
      From the Chromecast device:
      1. While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, press and hold the button on the back of the Chromecast. The LED will start blinking yellow.
      2. When the LED light turns solid white, release the button and the Chromecast will then reset.

You can help the Chromecast team better understand what you're experiencing by sharing more about your experience with Chromecast with Google TV and we'll try our best to improve your experience here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp madebygoogle

Hi there, thanks for sharing a review to let us know that your experience with the Chromecast with Google TV has not been ideal. We understand how disappointing it can be if someone assured you and sold you something but didn’t work.

To ensure you get the best experience, we recommend checking if your setup meets the following requirements:
      - A mobile phone or tablet running Android 6.0 or later, or iPhone or iPad with iOS 12.0 or later version.
      - An active Gmail account. You may encounter issues using a G-Suite account.
      - Ensure that you have an updated version of the Google Home app.
      - A high speed Internet connection of at least 20 Mbps. Mobile hotspots and Captive portal networks are not compatible with Chromecast devices.
      - A strong Wi-Fi network connection.
      - A TV with High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) 1.3 or higher built-in. HDCP 2.2 is required to support 4K content. Most televisions that are five years old or newer and have HDMI ports will have at least one port that supports HDCP 2.2.

Hi Krisp, thanks for sharing your feedback and for letting us know of your issue with your Chromecast with Google TV. It’s unfortunate to learn that you came across this issue, we hear you.

If you need to access your Google Photos to your Chromecast without using your phone to stream, you can install the Google Photos app on Google TV. Chromecast with Google TV has access to more than 6,500 apps that you can download directly from your device. You can check which apps are available on the Play Store at tv.google and learn how to install the apps here: https://support.google.com/googletv/answer/10050570

Also, when your Chromecast is not being used, it can quietly keep you entertained with Ambient Mode. You must be signed in to your Google account in order to set up and configure Ambient Mode. Ambient Mode allows Chromecast to access photos, personalized content, and preferences associated with your Google account. You can only access and manage Ambient Mode preferences from the Google Home app. Please visit this help article for more details: https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6080931

Hi there, thanks for sharing a review. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with your Chromecast with Google TV has been less than ideal. We'd love to improve your experience/

The Chromecast with Google TV offers recommendations for shows or movies based on your viewing habit. If it recommends that you watch it on an app that you are not subscribed to, you would only need to uninstall that app from the device.

You can also try changing the settings to suit your viewing preferences. In Apps only mode, you won’t get personalized recommendations. You’ll find a list of installed apps that you can open to find something to watch. You also find sponsored content and teasers for popular movies and shows. You won’t find Google’s personalized recommendations on your home screen, but apps can still show your personalized recommendations and track your watch history. These options include YouTube, YouTube TV, and other Google apps. When Apps only mode is on, it will hide Google’s recommendations from your home screen along with your ability to give feedback on movies or shows, or add them to your watchlist. To turn it on:
      - Go to Settings.
      - Select Accounts and Sign In.
      - Select the Google TV Account.
      - Select Apps only mode to toggle it on.
      - You will receive an explanation that you've enabled apps only mode. Select Continue.

If you need further assistance, we’d be more than happy to help you if you can reach out to us here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp madebygoogle

Hi Denononon, thanks for sharing the details of your experience with us. We're sorry to hear that the audio on your Chromecast with Google TV goes out of sync when streaming from your Disney Plus streaming app.

We recommend checking if you will experience the same issue with your other apps on Chromecast with Google TV. If the issue only happens with one app, we recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the app. You may follow the steps on this help page:
      https://support.google.com/googletv/answer/10050570

However, if the issue still happens with the other apps on Chromecast with Google TV, you may try resetting it to fix the issue. This process will erase all data and you may need to set it up again. Here's how:
      With the Chromecast Voice Remote:
      - In the upper right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings.
      - Select System and then About and then Factory Reset.

      From the Chromecast device:
      - While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, press and hold the button on the back of the Chromecast. The LED will start blinking yellow.
      - When the LED light turns solid white, release the button and the Chromecast will then reset.

      Hi csk26,

Thanks for your feedback. We're sorry for the frustrating performance issue you have with your Chromecast with Google TV. If you still have your device, we’re here to help and improve your experience.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow that might be helpful in resolving the issue:
      - Ensure that your Chromecast is connected to your 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.
      - Remove other connected devices on your Wi-Fi network and see if you will still encounter the same issue. Should you verify congestion, then we recommend contacting your internet service provider for resolution.
      - We recommend a Wi-Fi network with 25 Mbps download speed that can ensure you have enough bandwidth and get a smooth viewing experience.
      - If it does not work, you may try restarting your Chromecast by going to Settings > System > Restart.
      - You may also try to isolate if the issue happens on other apps.
      - If it's still unresolved, perform a factory reset on the Chromecast with Google TV.
      a. While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV, hold down the button on the Chromecast device for at least 25 seconds or until the solid LED light turns into a flashing red light.
      b. Once the LED light turns blinking white and the TV goes blank, release the button. The Chromecast device will begin the reboot sequence.

If the steps provided do not resolve the issue, you may reach out to our support team so we can help you in the best way possible here:

Pause your show and go refill your glass of water, and the app (any app) will close before you make it back. Makes it a poor choice compared to the alternatives -- including older Chromecasts, which don't have this problem. Not at all recommended.

      Hi Anonymous,

We understand how disappointing that can be. We apologize for the poor experience you have with your Chromecast with Google TV.

To isolate any software issues, we recommend performing a factory reset on both the Chromecast and the Voice Remote:
      To reset the Chromecast:
      1. Go to Settings.
      2. Select System.
      3. Select About.
      4. Select Factory reset (this is the third option on the About screen).
      5. Select Factory reset again, then Erase everything to confirm.
      To reset the Voice Remote:
      1. Check that the batteries in the remote have remaining charges.
      2. Remove the batteries from the remote.
      3. Press and hold the Home button Voice remote home button.
      4. While holding the button, reinsert the batteries.
      5. Hold the button while the LED light is solid.
      6. When the light starts pulsing, release the button.

After performing the factory reset, you should be able to go through the regular setup process again. If you´re still having problems, we'd be happy to help you. You´re more than welcome to reach out to our support team here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/gethelp madebygoogle
