Thanks for sharing your feedback. We can see how your experience with the Chromecast with Google TV was less than ideal. We'd like to know more about how the Chromecast was setup. There are steps for configuring on how to control the volume of your Chromecast:
1. Go to Settings.
2. Select Remotes and Accessories.
3. Select Set up Remote Buttons.
4. Select Volume Control.

Good luck getting warranty service if it fails.

Excellent for Both Newbies and Techies
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.As a cord cutter of almost 3 years, I have tried most every product for streaming...the previous Chromecast, AppleTV, Android TV box, and Roku. This Chromecast is by far the best of all of them. It's simple to use, it's easy to sideload apps, and with a USB-C hub, you can use a keyboard, mouse, and add storage. If you have YoutubeTV, the integrated guide is awesome! It's much more narrow than the guide in the YoutubeTV app, and it's always there without having to open the app. If you download Button Mapper from the Google Play, you can even remap the remote buttons (disclaimer: most buttons are free to remap, but some require a payment for the app). I use the free version without issue. The apps open flawlessly and just plain work. I've not experienced one issue with any of them. I have to say that while the AppleTV might be faster in terms of performance, the cost is nearly triple this Chromecast....and the AppleTV lacks the integration with YoutubeTV. Android TV boxes can't even compare with the Chromecast - they are laggy and buggy in comparison. In fact, I had bought an Android box recently and I returned it once I received this Chromecast. Finally, I bought this because I have both Peacock and HBO Max, and on Roku, HBO Max is still not available. Peacock did become available recently, but honestly, the Roku stick menu is just blah. The Chromecast interface is SO much nicer. If you want a bargain streamer with excellent performance and ease of setup and use, look no further.

A range issue or wireless interference can affect the performance of your Chromecast. Sometimes it may pass the connection test during setup, but will struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away. You may also check for objects such as mirrors and refrigerators between the Chromecast and your router as these items could block the connection. We also suggest clearing the app cache that might help as having a sizable amount of cache stored, would affect its performance. Here’s how:
- From the Google TV home screen, in the top right, go to the user profile icon and select Settings.
- Select Apps and choose the app you're having trouble with.
- If you can't find it, select See all apps.
- Select Clear cache and then Ok.

bad purchase

These kinds of issues are mostly caused by either an insufficient bandwidth or congested network. You may want to try out some helpful steps below:
- Check if you have sufficient bandwidth. Chromecast device's performance relies heavily on a high speed Internet of at least 20 Mbps for the best performance. You may try disconnecting some of your connected devices and try to see if you will get better performance when using your Chromecast device. Getting better performance will confirm that you may need to upgrade your Internet bandwidth.
- Check for possible sources of signal interference. The thick walls of your home, including the electronic and electrical devices you have may be causing the issue. Placing your Chromecast device away from these devices and in a straight line of sight with your router may help improve signal strength.
- Lastly, resetting your Chromecast device is also a good step in fixing minor bugs. Keep in mind that resetting it will erase all data and that you may need to set it up again. If the ads are coming from an app that you don't have a subscription to, you can uninstall them by following the steps below:
-From the Google TV home screen, scroll to Apps.
-Scroll down to the "Your apps" section and find the app you want to uninstall. If you can't find the app, scroll all the way to the right and select See all.
-Hold the Select button on your remote until a menu appears.
-Select View Details: Uninstall.
