Posted .I am sorry the radio had poor reception. Radio coverage distance will vary depending on multiple variables such as: terrain, interference from other users, and electrical noise. The radio can reach a maximum of 25 miles under ideal conditions. For ease in changing batteries, please ensure that the belt clip is removed prior to removing the battery cover. We were able to keep in constant communication and the batteries lasted all day. We used them the entire week we were away. The only challenge came in a city area where there were many tall buildings and we had gotten separated. Transmissions were difficult for the car that was not close to the other 2.

Its says 16 miles but their must be flat land with no houses,other frequnceys, or mountains. They come with rechargable batteries and they work great for him. Charging cord will only charge 2 at a time. They are back lit. So far had them for a bit 1 month and still working.
