I am sorry to hear that you are having audio and battery issues with your radio. For the best audio please ensure the following:
1) The radios have good reception by eliminating as many obstructions as possible between the radios.
2) When talking into the radio, speak within two inches of the radio in a clear loud voice.
3) The volume on the receiving radio is not turned up too loud, causing distortion.
For the battery life, please ensure the radio is fully charged (while turned off) before use. If the rechargeable batteries are more than 12 months old, they may need to be replaced.
