    It fell apart

I've had this filter on my 24-70 2.8 lens for a couple of months now. This morning, I took the camera out to take some sunrise pictures. I had everything setup on the tripod, all framed up and ready to go. Then I decided to climb back in the truck with the camera to wait for the sun. As I removed the camera from my tripod, I heard something rattling. I kept checking the lens hood because the sound was coming from that end of the lens. I couldn't imagine what could be rattling on my lens, certainly nothing should be. Then I noticed the glass in the filter flopping back and forth as I moved the camera. I couldn't believe it. I don't know if the filter is just too thin and the cold weather made it expand to where it fell apart or what. It took forever to get the ring off. If you look closely at the photo, you'll see the skin off my hands in the groves along the sides of the filter. Another problem with it being too thin is that the lens cap has almost nothing to hang onto. A Nikon lens cap has 3 barbs on each side that catch on the threads on the inside of a lens or filter, with this filter, you're lucky if the lens cap can catch the thread(s) with 1 barb. It's just barely hanging on there. Definitely not worth the money.
