Action, intrigue, criminals, and Nicholas Cage must I say more. Criminals take over an airliner and must be stopped. Action packed.

This is just a funny and fun movie. If you like action, and like comedy, this is a good film to sit back and watch.

how it has almost 5 stars is beyond me! the only good things in the movie are some special effect scenes, and all of the young/now established actors in it. talk about politically incorrect language and situations! wowey!!!

Nicolas Cage and John Malkovich are actors enough to carry any movie. But not this predicatabled plot.

Con Air is one of those great action films in that its only goal is for most of the scenery to blow up and for you to continually experience adrenaline bursts throughout the film. As such, it's one of the genre's best: an entertaining, frequently humorous and always amusing film with some surprisingly good actors obviously having a good time. That may not be the makings of an Oscar winner, but it does make for some great action entertainment. This is the story of Cameron Poe (Nicholas Cage, at the peak of his glory days), a convict who's just been released and is hitching a ride with a prisoner transport plan to get home. The trouble begins when a bunch of the convicts on board decide to take over the plane and fly it to freedom. Led by the vicious murderer Cyrus "The Virus" Grissom (John Malkovich. What more can i say?), the group intend to get away clean. However, Poe can't let this happen, for fear that he'll get part of the blame and won't be able to go home to his family. Thus, he helps U.S. Marshall Vince Larkin in secret, hoping that they can stop the criminals before they reach freedom. Some of the minor characters in the film are a lot of fun as well, especially the ones played by Ving Rhames and Danny Trejo. However, my favorite character is the serial killer played by Steve Buscemi, who actually provides the film's comic relief and turns out to be quite likeable. He also provides my favorite line in the film, delivered while the others dance to Sweet Home Alabama by Lynard Skynard. I won't spoil it for you. I recommend this to anyone who likes action movies and is willing to forgive one that focuses more on action than plot. As far as Jerry Bruckheimer productions go, this isn't that dumb, and it's loads of fun.
