Very impressed!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is on a Contixo - F28 GPS drone with remote - Silver. This will be the first drone that I have owned so no experience here. This is not a turn on and immediately start playing with drone. There are sensors and GPS that have to be calibrated first so this takes time. After charging the remote and the drone (the drone takes 3 hours), it didn't take too long to get up and running. There are a lot of buttons and lights to get familiar with. Instructions are solid though. Download the Contixo F28 app. After turning on the drone you connect to its Wi-Fi. Then it will ask you to give permissions for the phone's camera, etc. After connecting to Wifi, you have to calibrate it first. Press the joysticks to the 1 & 11 positions. It says "GPS mode, ready for takeoff". Pick up the drone horizontally and rotate it in clockwise motion until you hear a beep from the remote. Then pick up the drone facing down and rotate it in a clockwise motion until you hear two beeps from the remote. After it found the GPS signal, it was ready to fly. I must say I was a little worried because I was a beginner but this drone was very easy to operate. There are 2 ways to take off. One is just by the sticks and the other is through the app. Using the app to make it auto take off and land is cool. Video looks good on phone but is a little choppy due to Wi-Fi. I haven't tried a memory card yet because it didn't come with one but I would think the video would be smooth on the card. There are of course many applications to use this drone but I like to use it to inspect my roof or upper parts around the house I can't get to. My phone with the case still fit in the cradle. The drone only lasts about 30 minutes but will return once the battery gets low. This is a solid buy for the beginner.

Good Introductory Drone, iOS App Needs Improvement
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Contixo F28 Drone is a good introductory drone for those that want to experiment with drone flying or take a bird's eye view of their home, or family event. The limited flight time and less-than-ideal iOS app means there are trade-offs. But if your kids want a drone or you just want to learn, it's a good value entry into the world of drone flying. A reminder for everyone, please make sure you get a FAA license and check the FAA drone flight restrictions in your area. -= In the Box =- - F28 Drone - Hardshell Carry Case (very good quality) - Controller - 1x Battery - USB C and MicroUSB Chargers (more on that later) - spare propellers (nice that they're included) - landing mat - instruction manual (don't lose this!) - lens cover for the camera (remove before flight) -= First Impressions =- The F28 looks impressive and the carry case adds to the premium feel. The F28 has a reasonable weight. The controller though feels cheap mainly because it's incredibly light weight and the fold down grips feel like you may actually break them. That said, once you put your phone into the controller (there's a flip up adjustable phone holder) the weight balances out the controller. -= Setup =- The Contixo F28 requires calibration before you fly. The included instructions walks you through the process (unfortunately the app does not). Calibration involves various rotating the direction of the drone and listening for beeps on the controller, calibrating the controller itself. The process is not intuitive and is not something you need to do on higher-end drones. WiFi connectivity between the app and drone is manual (find the SSID) and there's a bit of hit and miss. Again, the app could be better at guiding you through the process. The drone battery is removable and is powered by USB C, the controller is a fix rechargeable battery and charges by micro USB. I charged them both overnight before first flight. I did notice the battery needs to be manually turned off, it seems to discharge if not turned off (i.e. removing it from the drone doesn't turn it off). -= What's Good =- Once you calibrate and connect it's fun. The Contixo F28 is easy to pilot and the controls are responsive. The camera quality is good. Tip, always hover when taking a photo or video for best results (flying and taking a video can impact quality). I was getting about 15-20 minutes of flight time in tests, depending on cross winds, height, and photos. The controls are very responsive and it's fun to fly the F28, as fun as a more expensive drone. -= What's Not So Good =- The F28 App could be much better. It really is a miss as this would be a game changer. I also wish it was USB C for the battery and controller. An extra battery would be great. As it takes several hours to charge. -= Final Thoughts =- The Contixo F28 is a fun introductory drone. If you want to learn how to fly without breaking the bank, or not sure if you will really use a drone, it's worth buying. Just keep in mind that the app is not as sophisticated as other drones and setup requires a little more work.

Not for beginners
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first got my Contixo - F28 GPS Drone with Remote Controller - Silver, I was very excited. I really enjoy flying drones around and taking pretty pics and videos, but the cheaper drones usually don't do very well, they drift, they're hard to control and easy to crash. and the video they take is sub par. The higher end drones usually use GPS stabilization, which makes them much easier to fly, while also making the video stability much better as well. So when I saw the Contixo - F28 GPS Drone with Remote Controller - Silver has GPS, and for such a cheap price, I had to get my hands on one. Unfortunately I'm a little disappointed. The drone is pretty complicated to get set up and ready to fly... make sure you have an extra 10 minutes to go through the set up and calibration before flight... if you see something interesting and want to launch the drone really fast to go check it out, this isn't the drone for you... first it needs to be set on flat ground, then linked to the controller, then you have to spin it horizontally, then vertically, to calibrate the drone. Then you also have to calibrate the GYRO inside... and now maby it will actually take off and fly... I had to repeat the steps a few times before they worked... then if you're lucky, your drone will work... about 5-10 minutes after the thing you wanted to film happened... and if you're really lucky you'll have full GPS signal, but if you're unlucky like me, you'll hear that the drone is experiencing electromagnetic interference, please move to somewhere else to launch. So after moving it, it finally would take off so I could fly it. It says it's a GPS drone, but I have two other GPS drones, and both of them hover perfectly still, no movement at all unless I input it... the Contixo - F28 GPS Drone with Remote Controller - Silver, drifts all over the place, and is no where near stable. It also doesnt fly very well.. when moving fwd or reverse, it will loose altitude, or gain it, even without any input from the controller, so constant corrections need to be made to keep it from rising to high, or going to low. It also won't fly in a straight line either... Even with no wind at all flying this drone is like trying to herd cats. The clip for holding a phone isn't big enough for a large phone like the S24 ultra. And the App is very clunky and confusing. Overall I think this might be a good drone for someone to practice their skills on because it's kind of in between a GPS drone and a Non GPS drone... so it's more stable than some but not as much as others. Or if you have really elite drone flying skills and don't need the GPS stability, then this might be you're go to for a cheap camera drone... other than that, I would recommend spending a bit more money and getting something a bit higher quality.

Good drone for beginners
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Contixo F28 GPS drone with the remote controller does a great job of mimicking the design of dii drones without the hefty price tag. The drone came packaged nicely in a carrying case with the remote and drone nicely packaged away. I would recommend charging the battery fully before proceeding with any of the set up steps as I seemed to have problems with the initial set up. Once the battery was charged via the included USB C cable I was able to set up the drone and get the compasses calibrated. I downloaded the Contixo app and was able to connect to my drone without much issue. Using the app allows you to use the one button take off and landing as well as see the live view of the camera on your phone screen. I found it much easier to take off and land using the app as I had some difficulty getting the rotors started when only relying on the included controller. This drone is great for beginners who are learning on flying a drone while videoing and taking photos as making mistakes while flying the drone don't hurt as much due to the reasonable price point. The drone was very easy for me to operate even while flying it inside my house. I appreciate the landing pad include with the drone that is fin for prating. Battery life is about 20 minutes with the included battery so I would recommend getting a second battery if you plan on flying it longer. Overall this is a great drone for beginners

Pretty sub-par experience overall
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading the previous reviews, I was mostly worried about the app not being compatible with my iPhone since I was already updated to iOS 18. But instead, I found the whole experience to just be pretty lackluster. Setup was definitely not a breeze. The instructions have a bunch of steps for getting everything up and running. They're mostly clear about what to do but things don't always work out quite how they describe. Powering on the drone and remote seemed to connect pretty ok. Then it's connecting to the app. This is where a lot of people have complained about it just not working or not connecting properly. I didn't have much of an issue, though. Connecting to the drone's wifi from my phone's settings app is definitely not my preferred method of connecting to anything but it worked. The app detected the drone and offered some controls. Then the instructions talk about various joystick positions you can (should?) do to calibrate things like the compass and gyroscopes. I found the compass calibration to be a little frustrating until I restarted the app and noticed that it actually showed some instructions on the app for how to calibrate it. I couldn't get the takeoff joystick gesture to work so I had to do some awkward series of buttons in the app to take off. Overall, the whole setup process is just not intuitive and presupposes you have some knowledge of flying and setup procedures before hand. Speaking of the app, I'm not a fan of it in general either. It's very clunky feeling. There's not a lot of feedback about if it's actually connected to the drone or not. Buttons are hidden underneath the notch or dynamic island on my phone. Just not a lot of thought was put in to it in general. And the company seems to have a separate app for each model of their drone instead of just one app that controls them all? I don't think I've ever seen that and it feels like it would make it an awful experience to get updates out in a timely manner. Updates to the apps do feel to be pretty rare. If i had to sum it up, I'd say the app makes me feel like I'm using an app from over a decade ago. Little has gone into making it look or feel modern or intuitive. The camera seems ok. When the app is working properly, the live video feed looks decent. It's not a super expensive drone so I'm not expecting professional quality cameras here. The camera looks about how I'd expect it to at this price. Flying the drone takes a little getting used to but, as a beginner, I didn't feel terribly overwhelmed. The drone definitely felt like it didn't stay put as well as I'd like it to. Even indoors, it would drift pretty noticeably. Maybe just for getting your bearings and learning how to fly a drone, this might be an OK place to start. I don't have an experience with other drones, though, so I'm not sure how to compare this to other new user experiences. Could I control it? Yes. Could the drone do a better job controlling itself? Probably. Build quality on both the drone and remote are very toy-like. It's all cheap plastic. The drone feels light and pretty flimsy. The remote feels even more flimsy. The popup for holding your phone BARELY stretches far enough to hold an iPhone 16 Pro Max. I mean, I have to stretch it just passed where it wants to stretch to in order to SQUEEZE my phone into it. Buttons and joysticks all feel cheap. Everything just feels cheaply made. It works, but I don't hold out hope that it'll last very long with any decent amount of use. The carry case is pretty small and nice, though. So there's a plus. It has a pouch that can hold spare parts and everything fits in it nicely. It's probably the least cheap feeling part of the whole package. So overall, I don't really recommend this drone to many people. Maybe if you can't find anything else at the same price point and this is the only price point you can do. Everything just feels so cheap and like they could have put a lot more thought into the design and user experience. It's functional, but that's about it.

I'd save up for something better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Drones are an incredible way of capturing beautiful scenery and getting that perfect shot for any video project. This is not to say that you can't have one to just fly around and have fun. But you want to make sure that the drone that you get is up to the task...whatever that may be. There are many great options in the market for beginner drone pilots. I've had my share of affordable drones, all the way up to name-brand drones. Most were very easy to connect and start flying almost immediately. The Contixo - F28 GPS Drone comes equipped with a nice carrying case, extra parts, and its charger. There is also an instruction booklet that, unfortunately, isn't much help to get you started. It explains the procedures somewhat, but when it comes to pairing your drone to the mediocre app, you are pretty much on your own with that. Prior to flying, you have calibrate a few things, which isn't hard to do. I was really hoping to get the drone, connect, and fly soon after. The app is suppose to connect your phone with the drone so you can have a visual of the camera, as well as a few extra setting for the drone. I tried to get the drone/camera connected for so long, I just ended up giving up the first day. Although I was not able to connect, I could still operate the drone, but pretty much without the use of the camera. It really defies the purpose of a drone because you want to be able to have an aerial view with a drone. I came back the second day to try to get the app to connect, but kept having no luck. The app is very poor in quality, by the way. As for flying the drone, the stability and maneuverability isn't too bad. It's pretty stable for the most part. Even in tight spaces, I was able to fly it, but would caution against it if you are new to drones. Overall, I think you can get more for your money if you save a few extra dollars and go for a more reputable brand. I really wish I could give this drone a better review, but with the inability to connect to the app and take advantage of the camera and other functions, it really isn't something I can recommend.

Great drone to start out with!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having had some time with this drone and using it with my Android based Samsung phone I can say I'm overall pretty impressed for what this drone is. For an intermediate/starter drone this thing is loaded with a number of features that really make it pretty good for what you get. First, you get a controller with gimbal sticks and a bag, which is not something even all the high-end drones come with. It does come with a battery and charger and extra set of blades. In terms of flight, control, battery life and distance you I have to say it's pretty stable and offers easy to use controls with the remote gimbal. The battery life is as advertised with a solid 24-25 minutes depending on conditions (yes, the wind or a breeze can impact your battery life). Distance was plenty far with more than a 1000 feet distance I took it out and up to the restricted airspace limits where I'm at for a drone. For stability, it does a pretty decent job staying in one spot when hovering and the GPS does work pretty well. It does track and use GPS to follow preset routes you plan and from what I could tell did okay with this and came home via a GPS set point though wasn't always right on target but close enough which was pretty cool. For what this drone is I was pretty impressed for what it is. For the video footage, I would say it's just okay but could be a lot better though this is pretty good for what I would consider a beginner drone that you want to try before making a much larger investment into a more expensive one. It does tilt the camera up and down but not side to side which is something you'd see on a higher end drone with a full gimbal camera and active image stabilization. The video is not perfectly smooth but again is decent for the entry point that this drone is. The app is okay but I did see reviews on the app store (though not many) that had issues with the app and losing connection, but I had no such issues. This drone seems like it is really quite good to learn with to get some basic skills with without the worry of crashing or losing an expensive high-end drone. Unfortunately, it's not all that uncommon for newbs to get a high-end drone and loose it or crash it doing something they shouldn't do without having the experience. I'd recommend one to anyone looking for more of an entry level unit that works with a newer phone and is easy to use.

First drone and man this is fun!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been interested in trying out my hand at using a drone but of course starting out big and expensive is not the way to go for someone with zero experience like myself so I got this little guy. First day I had it, I flew it into a tree and it came out unscathed, which shocked me. Granted I did not fly it fast or high as I was still getting used to the controls but once I started to get the hang of it, I got a little bolder in terms of height and distance! I have not been able to test out all of the features given when I finally get home its already starting to get dark (also flying at night is a no go for obvious reasons) For starters, while it is made mostly of plastic, it can take a few hits and keep crusing along and the propeller blades are just as sturdy! It is a pretty basic "starter" unit with an age range of 14+. Inside the box you get the drone, 1 battery (fly time is estimated at around 25 min), controller, carrying bag, extra set of propeller blades and an orange colored felt circular landing/take off mat. The camera is 2k and while it is not the best, it does a decent job at taking distance photos /video but close up it leaves something to be desired. You can take photos and video that either store on your phone or on the SD card (not included) that is inserted into the battery compartment. You can fly it with either just the controller or to unlock all the other features, you will need to connect your smart phone to it but a word of warning. I have an iPhone 15 ProMax and the slot which holds the phone does not expand enough when there is a case installed. Luckily I still had an older Samsung S7 Edge laying around and the fit is perfect. Take off and landing is simple and can be done with 1 or 2 presses on the phone screen or using the sticks on the controller. Contixio claims a max distance of 1700ft and max height of 396 ft but it will take me awhile to feel comfortable reaching anything near those numbers plus 400ft is the max height allowed by the FAA in uncontrolled airspace and with that being said, I have to recommend an app called Air Aware (free) on the app stores. This uses your GPS position and tells you what air space you are in (controlled vs uncontrolled) and other important information about the area you want to fly in so fly responsibly as one can get into a world of trouble if they are uninformed on local regulations. Also, get your TRUST certificate as it is required to legally fly a drone for recreational purposes. It is a pretty basic common sense course that is free online and is set up where you will not fail. I plan on upgrading at some point as it seems this is a 2nd version of the model and I was looking to purchase another battery but on the Contixio site , the only parts I could find were for the 1st model and the batteries do not appear to be interchangable.
