Great little drone for roof inspections! No FAA registration needed, just download the app, connect via WiFi, and it’s ready to go. So much safer and easier than climbing a ladder.

The F28 drone comes in a simple and easy to open box after removing the shipping film. Opening the box, you’re greeted the device neatly packed away in its travel case and bagged to ensure it is safe in transit. In the Box/Travel Case. The travel case is a re-enforced soft case. Within it, you will find the drone, a pre-installed batter with foam to keep it from locking into the drone. The drone controller, folded up all neat and placed into its storage location next to the drone. There’s a small zippered storage area where the charging cables are stored. Extra set or propellers, and additional shipping foams to protect the controller. In the box itself, you will find your standard set of instructions and additional company supporting documents and finally a drone landing pad. Drone/Control Assembly. This is a backpack drone, no real assembly required. What does need to happen is unfolding each of the drone arms prior to flight ensuring they lock into place. The drone control does need to be unfolded also, while placing your phone into the drone mobile device holder located on the controller itself. Fully charge the battery prior to first use. Install the Contixo App from your device’s app store; my case was the Google App Store. App Use. The app has lots of options that tie to the drone and allows you to take to drone from novice mode to advanced based on the user, giving you more control options over the drone. There are instructional videos and additional options to learn how to use and control the dron in addition to a training/learning feature. General Use. The F28 drone came with only 1 battery, and takes around 2-hours to obtain a full charge, giving you approximately 30 minutes of flight time. From out of box to normal use, I noted only getting 20-25 minutes of flight time at times. This needs to change, by including a secondary battery to gain almost a full-hour of flight time or faster charge times. It’s inconvenient to have only one battery and need 2-hours to charge before next use. This is especially if you are on a location for any reason trying to film and photo. Battery timing does vary depending on how much you move the camera while using the drone. The drone battery uses the latest generation connector for charging; USB-C while the controller uses a Micro USB to charge; hence the reason for two different cables. With today’s standards, its interesting that there are two different cables needed to charge your device and controller. The GPS feature for following is nice and return-home is great. There’s programable 1-click flight modes, this is outside of the basic ones included. Perhaps one of the features I enjoyed the most is the “return home” feature as the drone notes its GPS take-off point and will return to this same location when signaled. Overall, the drone is well built, priced, easy to fly, is a quadcopter setup drone with various functions to choose from. This drone would be a great purchase for anyone starting to out with droning filming and use to even just needing something at a low cost for travel without worry about a high loss value.

I recently got into drones and I feel it's a great activity for just about anyone. You can get the cheap drones for like $40 and really expensive ones for $1000 or so. This one fits very comfortably whether you're a novice or an intermediate drone user. I own a DJI drone and it works great. Great battery life, great features and just overall really fun to use. Downside is that it's $2k-$5k depending on which model you get. This Contixo drone has most of the features a higher priced drone would have at nearly 1/10th the cost. Sure, it's not some high end model but, to start with or use as a secondary drone, it's great. You get everything you need to start flying right out of the box. Everything comes in a nice little carrying case too. You get the drone, battery, controller and cables to start off with. This model utilizes your smart phone so you'll have to provide that. Probably one of the nicest features of this drone are the different flight modes. You get a few different mode like Follow Me, Way Point as well as a selfie mode which is pretty cool. My favorite would have to be the Follow Me mode when walking to the woods. Connectivity seems pretty good. This model has some decent range (1700ft) so you'll be able to get high enough to take advantage of the drone. The pictures/vids are pretty good, not great, but good enough for just about anyone. Probably the biggest downside is the battery life on this drone,. It's good for about 25 minutes or so. If this is something you're going to invest in then getting additional batteries would be my recommendation. That said, if you're looking to get into drones and don't want a super cheap one, this would be a great entry level drone for you. Decent features but at a reasonable price

I picked up the Contixo F28 because I need to familiarize myself with drones for work. Up until this point I have had no hands on experience with them, and I'm still not 100% on them but this drone did well on getting my familiar with basic operations and flight control. Overall I think this is an OK product, but only OK. I'll do a quick breakdown of pros and cons before going in depth. Pros Lightweight making it easy to carry and also you dont have to register it Surprisingly Durable Comes with spare parts Cons Battery Life and Form Factor Bulky cheap feeling controller Control App is very unpolished Wifi reception very limited So, overall the build of the drone itself is pretty nice. It comes in a low sheen metalic finish (though I'm not positive of the material), the arms for the motors fold in really easily and the blades are really easy to replace for when you accidentally break one. The controller on the other hand is extremely bulky to the point of being uncomfortable to hold. It does have a lot of buttons on it to perform various functions with the drone which is nice (camera control for instance). It has extensions on the bottom to make it more comfortable to hold, but honestly I think they need to go back to the drawing board with it. The holder for the phone does surprisingly hold my S24 Ultra which is a relatively large phone, but its at its limit doing so. The drone itself works pretty well. When starting it up you should calibrate the compas/gyro and GPS which are fairly simple to do. From there you can go flying, no need for the App. You can take pictures with just the controller, but I feel thats a little pointless given you can't tell the drones perspective without it. The durability of the drone is pretty good. I've wrecked the drone 3 times so far, and no damage to anything besides some minor scratches. It even turns itself off when it wrecks which is convenient. The blades also didnt harm my dog when he jumped up to attack it. Where this thing falls apart for me is in battery life and the app. The battery life on this lasts about 30-40 minutes depending on how you're flying. If you're going low and slow it lasts a bit longer. If you're flying really fast (like chasing your kids around) then it drains faster. The problem is that it uses a proprietary battery that fits into the body and you only get one. So you get 30 minutes of play time before having to charge for 3 hours. Not very useful for expeditions. Then the app. The localization is well enough but there are times when it will make you chuckle with some of the things it says. It has an auto return feature that will take it back to where it took off from, but the problem with that is it will go directly there. So if there is an obstacle, well its going to hit it. I also had a problem with the auto landing. I took off from my patio table, then told it to land, which made it veer off towards the ground instead, causing it to hit one of my chairs. Finally there is the reception. In order to use the drones camera you have to connect your phone to the drones wifi. This is a problem because the range and quality of signal isn't great. I would get maybe 100 meters before it would get pretty unusable. Then when it is close, the latency is bad making it almost impossible to fly with its perspective. The interface isn't that great, being pretty cluttered and unintuitive. There are lots of features within the app, but due to weather in Oklahoma lately I haven't been able to fly much to test them out. The drone does have follow mode and way points, but it lacks the accident avoidance you'd find elsewhere making it dangerous to use in my area. Those may be great features but I wouldn't want to put something into automation mode that couldn't avoid things like trees. Overall I think for the price its fair. The drone flies well enough, able to keep itself relatively stable. But I think people really wanting to get into drones are going to find it very lacking when it comes to the battery life and app performance

I’ve been itching for a drone for a lot of years and tried to scratch that itch with “toy” drones. They were difficult to fly, had poor cameras if at all and the batteries could barely last 10 minutes. Thankfully the Contixo F28 is none of that. The F28 comes completely assembled but it did need charged. Charging the batteries took about three hours for both the drone and controller. The drone uses a USB-C to USB-A cable but only works with 5 watt chargers or smaller. I did try high-speed USB-C chargers and cables with no success. The controller uses a micro-usb cable and takes about 30 minutes. It's disappointing that the drone and the controller use separate cables to charge. Initial calibration took about five minutes and was simple. I did have difficulty with the GPS signal. In multiple locations all I could manage was “geomagnetic interference” which I thought odd as I have no trouble with GPS on my phones, cars and laptops. I am also in a flight-restricted area and while no registration or licensing is required, I can’t help but wonder if this might be the reason. Needless to say, so far, I am unable to utilize the many GPS based features of the drone like follow-me, point of interest and return to home. Turning the GPS off, I was able to fly without issue and quite pleased with how I did. The F28 is easy to fly and maneuver and the controls are responsive. I got about 25 minutes of flying time over several flights before the battery needed charging. A second battery is a must if you are looking for longer outings. Fortunately, another battery wasn't difficult to find. I was really impressed with the photos taken with the F28. The 2K camera has a wide angle view and the pictures and video are crisp and clear. In addition to photos and videos you can do time-lapse and panoramic shots as well. The remote controller charge lasted through several flights. It has a pop-up holder for your phone. My iPhone 14 pro with a slim case just fit in it. While the drone itself is well built the controller looks and feels a little cheap but it worked fine. It also has two fold out pieces on the bottom side to make it easier to hold. I found it comfortable without them. Everything comes in a nice carry case and you get a replacement set of propellers. Overall I am happy with the Contixo F28 drone. It's the right features at a great price. I would recommend it to a friend.

Okay Budget Drone with Tons of Features

I’ve got an FPS drone, that takes a bit to set up and I’d be a lot more upset if it got damaged letting someone “try it out”. So, I thought I’d pick up a simple and more reasonably priced drone to use for fun and let others try. I landed on Contixo – F28, as it didn’t require registration and was for “14+”, which I hope means it was easy enough for most to use. Pros: - Easy app setup and pre-flight steps. - Plenty of nice to have features. - No Registration is needed. Cons: - Plastic feels fragile and cheap. - Charge time on Drone battery is 3 hours for 25mins of flight time. - Flying is not stable; it takes practice to navigate accurately. Setup: Contixo included a convenient carrying case that fits everything: Drone, Controller, cables, instructions, and spare parts. On handling the drone and controller, I could tell the difference in quality, not in a good way. The build quality feels like cheap toy plastic, the kind you find on kid’s toys. When extending the arms on the drone and handles on the controller I was afraid I might crack the plastic due to how fragile it is. I noticed there were different USB ports for charging on the drone vs. the controller, I wish both would have been USB-C so you’d only need 1 cable to charge both and with most phones moving towards USB-C it would be one less cable to need. The drone battery and controller were pre-charged about 3/4ths, which was convenient to get started. But with only 1 drone battery, I’m concerned with the estimated flight time of 26 mins and a charge time of 3 hours that I’ll be waiting for the battery to charge more often than using it. I’m an android user, so I navigated to the Play Store to download the Contixo F28 app. I liked how simple it was, no sign up or added info is needed. Just install, allow permissions, and then you’re ready to go. Connecting to the drone worked easily for me, simply powered on the drone, connected to the drones Wifi after waiting for a moment, and then opened the app and clicked control. The order kind of matters, as I tried connecting a few times by opening the app then connecting the Wifi but couldn’t connect to the drone via the app or wouldn’t find the GPS. Closing the app and re-opening seemed to fix this. Controls: The controller didn’t feel good in the hands, more like a kid’s toy controller than a functioning controller. I was a little concerned about sticking my phone into the holder, it worked but I had to take my phone out of the case. The joysticks are not smooth, they give off the feeling of that extra controller you had for the “guest” when they came over. The controller worked well controlling the drone during flight, but I did notice some odd interference with the inputs I made verse how the drone reacted, sometimes as a lag or as not responsive. I couldn’t consistently replicate the issue, so I assume it was due to interference from another source nearby. The flight video feed worked surprisingly well; I didn’t have any issues seeing what the drone saw in near real time. The camera controls were quite useful, as being able to rotate the camera down allowed for keeping you in focus while using the Follow Me or Selfie Mode feature. The only issue I found with both modes is that the drone drifted badly, even when standing still the drone would have to correct its drift enough that any video feed would seem unsteady. This was with wind; I couldn’t image this drone handling even a light breeze. Pre-Flight: After connecting to the drone and opening the app, you will need to run through 5 pre-flight checks before the first flight. I had to restart the app a few times to get it to register the drone was connected for my flights, but once connected I had no issues staying connected. The way it lists these out in the manual seems like you can skip them, but the app kept reminding me to perform them before I proceeded. Each step required a specific press of the joysticks then a motion with the drone, or no motion for the GPS search. You can turn off the GPS if you cannot get signal or are flying indoors. After the checks, you just must pull the joysticks to the 7 and 5 o’clock positions to start up the propellers. This same trigger will also stop the propellers, which is helpful for when you inevitably crash on the first few attempts. Flight: It was easy to get off the ground, the “hover” only kind of hovered. More of a stead drift, but it was consistently off ground. I found that the F28 excelled at flying above things or in wide open space, but anywhere near obstacles or trees it tended to not have the necessary precision to avoid these objects easily. This was due in part to my inexperience with the device but also to the consistent drift. On the first flight, I avoided everything and just zoomed around above the houses and checked out the skyline. For the 2nd and 3rd flights, I tried flying closer to the ground and around the outside of the house but proceeded to crash every 5 or so minutes because I’d drift into something. I was pleasantly surprised at how durable the F28 was, I managed to not break any parts or propellers during any of the crashes. Feature: The 2K camera on the F28 is nice, I was able to capture both photo and video with it that were easily accessible on my phone. I was really surprised by the quality; the resolution made the city skyline really visible, and the color popped with the changing leaves. As mentioned earlier, the ability to move the camera really comes in handy, especially if you can get the drone to hover or use Follow Me to track you. The added features and modes were fun to try out, I was able to use the Follow Me, Selfie, and Orbit Modes during my flights. The Time-Lapse photography was only so-so because over ~25mins only so much happens but if you are tracking a busy area, then the photo might turn out better. The Panoramic Shooting was nice, but I had some issues with wind at the time, so the photo was a little off. I can imagine on calmer days the ability to take a full panoramic photo of a skyline or landscape would be amazing for any amateur photographer. Charging: Charging times are always the bane of drones, The Contixo F28 is no exception. And with only 1 Battery included, removeable and chargeable via USB-C, you will have to wait around for up to 3 hours for a full charge. You can order extra batteries on marketplace sites or from Contrixo, which will help cut down on waiting times. I found that most USB-A phone chargers work for charging the batteries, but the ones with a USB-C plug on the outlet wouldn’t work. I was able to charge the controller up in roughly 30 minutes and it lasted for 3 flights on a single charge. Far out lasting the drones battery. Conclusion: For a budget Drone targeted at kids, the Contixo F28 is not a bad drone nor is it all that difficult to set up and use. The app and controller are unpolished but work for what they need to do. If you are looking at this drone as your first drone or one for a first-time drone user, this wouldn’t be a bad option. Just note, it is not made or intended for any professional use, even for photography it is just okay mainly because it cannot stay perfectly still while flying. Would I recommend it? I would consider it for those who are on a tight budget. But if you have experienced higher end drones, I would recommend buying something else as you will be disappointed.

    GREAT BEGINNER DRONE

The Contixo F28 GPS Drone is one of the best beginners drones I have ever owned. It’s compact, flies well and takes exceptional video. This drone is very reasonably priced and packs a lot of features. Its easy to fly even on windy days. Making the decision to purchase this drone really easy. One of my favorite features of this drone is the flight range and battery life. I was able to fly this drone around my 80-acre property and check out the damage caused by the hurricane. Having the ability to scout my property and assess the damages was amazing. I got some very good quality videos that helped me see what cleanup was going to be like before leaving my yard. It took about 15 minutes to navigate my property and when the Contixo returned to home and I still had good battery life left. This leads me to the brilliant quality of the camera. Due to capability of manipulating the camera angle I was able to get great shots of the carnage. The camera in this drone shots at 2k so the video quality is top notch and it comes in at HD. So, the arial video produced by this drone is on par with some of the much more expensive drones. The stability is great and that’s due to the fact that this drone uses GPS to orient itself. When I was hovering around to get footage, even with the winds, my video was super stable. I would fly my drone over an area and take 360-degree video of the area and the footage was as if I had this thing on a tripod. Once I had all the footage that I wanted I just hit the return to home button and this drone did everything without any input from me return precisely where I had launched it from. I monitored all of this footage captured by the drone on cellphone. The live feed to my phone was extremely good. Being able to see exactly what my drone saw helped me navigate. I was able to use my phone to make precise maneuvers gathering the data needed to plan out what course of action I needed to take in order to get my land back up to my standards. The Contixo F28 drone packs many more features, but those are the features that I found the most useful. I 100% endorse this drone. It’s packed with many useful features and can be used by beginners or even professionals. For the low cost of this feature packed drone, I will be getting one for my nephew. This is going to make a great Christmas present. Don’t let this little gem pass you by.

The Contixo F28 drone is a solid initiative for beginners (and even sometimes intermediate) in the world of drone recreation ability and usage. First, I was impressed with the product's packaging, which had the essentials properly spaced with no room for damage problems within the case, and the guide on the top flap, which showed me how to assess and what to expect using the drone. I was able to notice the thought of having people not wholly familiar with drone flying evident on the controller's icons showing a visual representation of what to expect pressing or moving while having a phone rest on top that helped show me a firm view through the camera of the drone while navigating the controls simultaneously. The product's manual helped and promptly showed me the basics of drone flying, and I had no issue with no prior knowledge or experience of having the drone airborne within minutes of reading the manual.  Although the instructions were clear and direct, the way I navigated the drone was not precisely as it was said to be done through the manual. There were instances where it was recognized via the camera but was not navigated correctly using the application. Also, tracking back to the application, I couldn't help but be alarmed by the astonishingly low 1-star review given to the application on the app store. I soon realized that the main clause for the poor review was the time it takes for the drone to connect via wifi, which left me confused until I waited no longer than a minute after turning on the drone to find it within the wifi signals. The UI for the application was more than sufficient and helped guide me on more accessible routes to do certain procedures, such as locating the helipad given (which I recommend the company add some sort of weighting under because the drone tends to move a lot while descending on) and the GPS tracking. The camera quality of the drone is more than sufficient, and it helped me with my need to require a drone with picture and video quality with the 2k HD camera supplied with the drone. I tended to take more pictures than videos due to the blur being much more noticeable in different settings. The battery life also seemed to be a bit short; the battery life seemed to deplete rather quickly, giving about one hour after being fully charged. The drone equipped with four motors helped with the maneuvering and the navigation needed with ease. I was mostly impressed with how responsive and intuitive the drone was with the combination of the application and the controls; I could micromanage with no trouble locating it in certain proximity and places. The drone helped propose a new POV and perspective when looking through the camera, which helped me expand on the usage and needs of a drone. I would gladly recommend the Contixo F28 for drone recreation, with the necessities being more than applied and easy to use.

    Failure In Every Aspect

After using this Contixo F28 2k Drone, am honestly saying I mostly felt unhappy with the App and the product right from the start, I was hoping that this particular drone would be easy to use and a good way to start flying drones as a sport, with a lot of experience and knowledge about high end drones I thought it would be a easy task flying this since its a beginner drone. I ran into lot of problems that made me very angry throughout the whole process. Right from the start with this drone, there were a lot of issues with communication through Remote and App, Even though the directions say to connect your phone to the drone's Wi-Fi network, my phone couldn't find it at all. It was hard for me to fly the drone Because of this reason, I was unable to test the live video feed feature because the app in not compatible with my iPhone, Along the same lines, the controller had very clear rules about how it should connect with its drone but the commands don’t seem to work all the time, Sometimes when I hit the buttons, they wouldn't do anything. They also looked and felt worn out. In addition, they had a number of flaws. There were times when the drone did not react to any of the controller inputs I made. There were a few times when this happened. I really didn't like having to restart everything over and over again. Getting the F28 into the air was hard, and it was hard to fly it once it was there. I was unable able to finish the job. All the main features like GPS control, follow me and orbit mode tied to the app so when app itself is not working properly then its just a normal drone which only does basic tasks using remote control even using remote too the drone drifted a lot and couldn't keep its place very well. I can also say that the hover feature serves no purpose at all. Based on what I saw, it seemed more like a cheap toy than a real GPS drone. This is what I thought and felt. Another problem with the product is that the battery only lasts a short time. Regarding other trips, the time you have will be pretty short since your ride is only going to last about 20 minutes and Also, it just comes with one battery, so you'll have to wait a while for it to charge before you can go on another trip. You won't be able to catch another trip because of this. I would not suggest the Contixo F28 to anyone, not even kids who want to fly a drone for fun Without a doubt. Because of the numerous problems that came up while testing, this is an experience that is very annoying. Some of these are issues with connection, controls that don't seem to work, bad flight performance, and a short battery life. It would be better for you to buy a higher-quality beginner drone from a well-known name than a lower-quality drone. If you look at the F28, it seems like a cheap toy that was badly put together and will make you unhappy.

App Needs Work, but it’s fun to fly

When I sat down to set up the Contixo F28 GPS Drone, I had some doubts. I read many of the reviews that were published about it, and since I saw that there were a lot of issues with connecting to the drone and setting up the app, I was concerned that my experience wouldn’t be very positive. While I did dislike some of the design choices of the manufacturer, I ended up having a lot of fun flying the drone. DESIGN The overall design of the drone could use some work. It’s made with very lightweight, cheap-feeling plastic. It looks like the design was mocked up after other foldable drones from more premium brands. This isn’t really where I had my issues. It was the controller. At first glance, it looks and feels like a child’s toy. It is functional, but its parts are so lightweight and not easy to manipulate (unfold from its body) that I had a hard time getting past its design to its function. When I flipped it over and saw a battery door, I almost gave up entirely because the last thing I wanted to deal with was disposable batteries. When I opened the door, I found a Lithium-ion battery pack (702030 3.7V 300mAh) that was connected to the controller. This battery pack is rechargeable, but the connector for it is micro USB, which was a letdown since it’s such outdated technology at this point. In my opinion, I believe this controller was probably an older design and repurposed for this particular drone without being updated. SET UP The setup requires a couple of different steps. First, you need to download the app. I was using an iPhone 16 Pro running iOS 18.0.1, and the version of the Contixo F28 app was version 1.03. I didn’t have any issue with connecting to the drone’s WiFi network and once I did, the app opened up the camera and I could use it while I was flying. I followed the instructions in the manual and didn’t have any major issues with getting the drone in the air. THE APP There were several reports I read of the app not being compatible with the latest iOS version. I was fortunate in that the app had been updated just a few days before I set up the drone. That said, it’s not 100% optimized for iPhone 16 Pro. The edges of the app go to the edges of the iPhone, and it is only viewable in landscape mode. That means that the Dynamic Island ends up covering some of the menu controls. While you can still access the menus, you can’t see them. You have to tap on a certain area and then hope you are getting the right thing. Aside from that, I was able to access photos and videos that I captured and save them to my phone. The app kept giving me a ‘no SD card warning,’ but there was no place to put an SD card on the drone. Media was simply saved to my Photo library (after I gave it permission). FLIGHT EXPERIENCE I had a lot of fun flying the drone. It was actually very peppy, and while I didn’t have a speedometer, I thought it was pretty quick. I only flew the drone in my backyard, but it’s fairly sizable. I flew it from one end to the other and stopped quickly when I let off the controls. I didn’t find that it did automatic avoidance of obstacles, and I did fly it into a pine tree once. The drone immediately lost connection and dropped to the ground. I estimate that it was about 10-12 feet in the air when it fell. Surprisingly enough, the drone was unharmed, and once I straightened out its legs, it was able to fly again with no issues. I’m not 100% sure I would recommend this for beginners since it took some technical experience to get started with this drone, but it was a lot of fun to fly, and it’s very cost-effective. It comes with a very handy travel case, which is great for storage of the entire set-up. It’s not perfect, but a person can have fun with it.

Bottom Line: The Contixo F28 drone is a good choice for beginners with an easy learning curve and solid set of features. Pros: easy to set up and fly; stable; good picture and video quality; can survive a crash Cons: drone and remote use different charging cables; seems to drift a meter to the left when stabilizing Review: The drone comes fully assembled and can be flown right out of the box (although the instructions recommending charging both the drone and controller fully first). There's a single button on the battery that allows you to see the charge level and turn the drone on/off. Before flying, you need to calibrate the drone, which the instructions clearly explain. Once connected to your smartphone (via WiFi) and GPS is set, you're ready to fly. There is a learning curve to flying compared to, say, an RC car, and I crashed both into my neighbors roof and the side of my house during my first two attempts. Fortunately, despite falling 15 feet and then smacking the side of my house, the drone only had a few scuff marks. It only took a few more attempts to build a moderate degree of confidence in my flying ability. Once in the air, the drone has very good stability and moves smoothly. It’s been windy here the past week, and the drone doesn’t shift much or have trouble flying despite some strong gusts. The 2K camera offers good picture and video quality, although you can definitely see a little bit of the fish eye effect given the wide angle of the lens. Also, the gimbal on this unit won’t compensate much for sharp movements (e.g., hard banks, spinning the drone), and so you might need to do some editing if there’s a lot of movement in your footage. Thus far, I have only identified two issues worth mentioning. First, one minor annoyance is that the drone battery charges via USB-C, whereas the controller uses micro-USB. The drone comes with both cables, but it would be simpler if they both charged off of USB-C. Second, and this might simply be a calibration issue on my part, but whenever I park the drone, it stabilizes about a meter to the left. This makes it a little bit of a challenge if I’m trying to precisely place the drone, say, over the landing pad.

I was looking for an entry level video drone for my son that's durable enough for a beginner, but under the weight that requires FAA registration. The Contixo F28 seemed good enough on paper and the price was right. My first reactions upon opening weren't favorable; it was packaged in its case rather nicely, but the body is made of cheap plastic that I worried would not survive many accidents. My guess was weight savings to stay under the FAA requirements, because the controller felt quite well made, with extendable palm grips and a familiar layout to the more expensive brands. Connection and setup was difficult due to the lack of prompts on the app. With the app open and the controller on, I powered up the drone and searched for its Wi-Fi signal, it connected quickly. In this way, it differs from my Air 2s unit because it connects to the controller, then the phone connects to the controller with a cable, which leaves the Wi-Fi open to access maps and chart flight plans. The app has a difficult to understand Asian woman speaking prompts that usually cause no actions. Pushing the take-off button causes her to say "taking off" but nothing happens to the drone. The drone requires you to simultaneously press pull down the joysticks to the outer corners to turn on the blades. From that point, you can take off by pushing the left joystick up. Flight works the same way on my Air 2s and it's very responsive with quick left right panning and combination movement. Pushing the speed button takes it off beginner mode and that's when you need to be careful, because on hover a few times, it kind of bobs and makes 4ft circles, but I find that goes away if you maintain at least 10-15ft from the ground. There are no obstacle or proximity sensors on this in any way, so you need to be mindful of your location and keep constant visual contact. I discovered this when it went behind my roof and I moved the wrong way causing it to make contact and flip upside down and slide down the roof. Upon retrieval, I noticed how badly it got scuffed from just sliding off the roof, even the camera lens got scratched. The camera states it's 2k quad HD capability, but I found it subpar with washed out images, some looked cartoony. Gesture control works well to take a picture by doing 3, 2, 1 on your hand. The camera appears to be on a gimbal, but it's not and the tilt range from straight is 30-60-90 degrees only. The camera is on permanent headless mode despite the button that toggles it on/off, making video shaky. Video resolution and quality is actually pretty good, all things considered. In summary, this is not an ideal beginner's drone because of its fragile build quality and lack of sensors. Nonetheless, it's a very capable unit with a good quality controller and robust app with many features, including video editing that you can see in the included clip. The app has the capability for so much more than the drone can handle. I think you should spend a little extra and get one with sensors and better build quality.

--- SETUP --- The Contixo drone is a quick setup. The drone is already assembled as a single unit. It comes with preinstalled blades, a mostly charged battery pack, and a fully charged remote control. Still, charge everything before use. --- FEATURES --- Flight time at full charge is 26 minutes, 1080P recording, app connection, remote controlled, automatic flight options (circle, hover, follow user), auto land, full 360 control, max altitude of 120 meters, wind speed resistance 17 MPH, field of view 110 degrees. --- EXPECTATIONS and PERFORMANCE --- This drone is on the more affordable side. It is a great introductory drone to practice and learn the nuances of drone flying. I went to fly this drone at a parking lot of a park near my home. Once I connected the drone to the app, I was able to control the drone using the included remote control. The remote control has a cradle for the phone. I am using an iPhone 15 Max Pro with a slim case. The phone was able to fit, but it was too heavy for the phone mount to stay angled for comfortable viewing. Instead, the phone mount lies as far back as it can due to the phone weight. I would have preferred if I could choose the viewing angle. As a result, I had to hold the controller lower than I would have liked. The remote control is very responsive to the drone. However, the drone does have trouble hovering with light wind. I had to constantly adjust and readjust the drone to capture the footage I wanted. Everytime I readjusted the drone, I would record shaky camera movement, so it made it difficult to get a smooth capture that requires manual movement. Recording footage from up close looks grainy and unclear. From afar, the image looks better because you aren’t focused on the small details of being up close. Taking up close pictures is also not ideal with this drone. This drone doesn’t include a memory card. When buying one, the maximum amount of storage it supports is 128 gigabytes, so that’s something to be aware of. After saving the video to the memory card, it also automatically saves it to your phone's photos app, which is great! This drone does not have collision prevention, so be extra careful with your investment. It does, however, have automatic return, which is helpful if you have flown your drone to a space you cannot see. On the app, you can see how high your drone is and a map showing you or its approximate location. On the iPhone, some of the buttons needed to access all features are blocked by the iPhone’s front view camera bar. Even if I flipped the phone to the other side, a different set of buttons would end up being blocked. --- APPROVAL --- Overall, this is a great starter drone to initiate your drone flying abilities and practice for drone certification in your area. However, for major projects, I wouldn’t rely on this drone.

I was very excited to get this Contixo F28 drone that has so many features that I was looking for like the Follow me, selfie mode, time lapse photography, GPS control, way point and orbit mode, and of course the 2K camera, however my experience was not as good as I was hoping for. I have used other drones in the past but setting this drone for the first time was a bit more difficult than I had anticipated, you’d first have to calibrate the drone clockwise for the first flight so the GPS could work and also move the control sticks so it can pair with phone and the control. After following all the instructions, charged the batteries of the drone and the control, there was no instructions of where could I put a microSD card, but I found it inside the drone where the battery goes in. I set of the drone on the orange mat include, calibrate the drone and waited for the lights to change steady as it stated on the instructions, then downloaded the Contixo app, the drone turned on and I was able to flight the drone in my backyard, however the drone camera and the app never worked or paired with my iPhone. I looked for troubleshooting and reset my wifi network and the drone , tried again and I was able to flight the drone but the camera never connected to my iPhone, it was showing the drone disconnected from my phone and the app. This drone have good potential but the app and the paring compatibility is not good enough for all phone devices, hopefully it’s a glitch on the app or there’s other ways to get this drone camera to work on my iPhone.
