I bought this laptop cooler because my computer would constantly overheat within minutes of playing graphic intensive games. My computer would lag during gaming. However, After i used the laptop cooler my laptop remains warm instead hot. I have no trouble playing games because my laptop remains cool. The fan is really quiet and it is even quieter then my laptop which is really loud. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and worked like a charm without any issues.

I have two Dell XPS M1730s, a 15” Inspiron, a 17” Inspiron, and a 15” Sony VAIO, all running close to 24/7/365. Constant heat dissipation concerns, especially with the Dells – like multiple graphics card burnouts, CPU replacements, and burnt thighs – drove me to look for a cooling fan. I tried three other models before sticking with the CM NotePal X2. I’m completely happy with this product. I tried the first X2 for about six months before buying a second one, and I’m probably going to get a third for me and a fourth for my girlfriend, who constantly steals one of mine for work. I’m not sure what laptop she’s using, but she likes the X2 too. First of all, they work. It doesn’t feel like much air is moving, but they keep my systems *measurably* cooler. I’ve had zero heat problems/warnings since I started using the X2. The fan runs almost silently, even at full blast, and one of them has been running at 100% non-stop for about three months now. The only noise they ever make is when I’m shifting one around on my lap, and I drill a kneecap into the very center, it grinds. I probably shouldn’t do that. It’s comfortable on my desk or on my lap. I like the little feet, although I don’t always use them. The fan creates a comfortable typing angle all by itself, I think. The temperature difference between feet-up and feet-down (as well as between glass desktop versus denim-clad lap) are all less than 3%, so there is a slight but measureable improvement in air-flow when the space beneath the fan is opened up. I thought I was going to hate the blue LED light lighting up my whole bedroom or office at night, but I don’t notice it at all. The hard drive / NumLock lights on my laptop are ten times brighter. It’s the perfect size for a 15” or 17” widescreen. The laptop’s grips (feet) line up with the size of the fan base perfectly. I’ve read some complaints about grip, but (having tried several fans with several laptops), that’s usually because of the laptop’s grips (or lack of them), not the fan. In any case, I’ve never had any problems with grip between X2 and any laptop, even the one that’s missing a foot. I prefer the USB-powered fans like this one to consuming yet another AC outlet, so that’s a plus. Also, the X2 has a spare USB port, so there’s no net loss of ports. Light and thin, so easy for travel.

I am a business owner, gamer, and student so my laptop does a lot of work and rarely gets shut down. I was having heating issues while running my more powerful programs (Auto CAD) and STEAM games, this cooler has so far eliminated those issues. Along with the nice ambient blue glow and the competitive price, I would say this is a great value and highly recommend this product.

Never had heat issues since i undervolt my processor but i dont like heat and it actually allows me to put my LAPtop on my lap. The only downside is that it has a power button and speed dial for the fan. I guess the speed dial is good if the noise bothers you. The led light actually is not even a bother barely even notice it.

    Works pretty good

I have had this cooler for about two months now and it works pretty good. The fan is in the middle but big enough that it covers the entire bottom of my laptop. Even though my laptop heats up on the side, it still stays rather warm. Before, the side would be almost too hot to touch and the laptop itself would shut down on me. I dont have an issue with my laptop sliding on the metal grate as my laptop has rubber buttons on the bottom

    Both Broken

The first one of these I received had the usb ports set out of place and I was unable to even attempt to plug it in. I got an exchange - It was broken. The usb ports were fine as far as they transferred power, but when I pressed the on switch it only turned on the very unnecessary blue light. I then moved the rpm dial on it to make the fan move and still nothing happened no matter how many times I tried unplugging and replugging and moving the dial. Two in a row that were absolute junk that made me waste my time.

Was looking to replace my original Notepal which served me faithfully for a year and a half. This one is a giant disappointment. Laptop constantly overheating during gaming (asus g72x, video card hittin 98 celcius on medium settings in SWTOR!?), no grips to keep laptop in place. So terrible cooling and horrible design? yay! Gonna return and try out the storm sf I guess, wanted to stick with usb powered but after trying 3 diff ones think ima just bite the bullet and go with ac power.

I liked this at first, it kept my laptop cool. However several times it's fallen because of the angle of the fan and that is no good.
