It looks like a kid's movie, but it is a bit too dark to be a good movie for kids.

    Good movie great 3D

So, what do you do as a girl who's parents constantly ignore you after you move to a new house? Get involved in a great movie of course. Coraline is one of the few "first gen" 3D movies that decided not to throw the 3D in your face but use it to help tell the story. The cinematography in this film is outstanding and the plot and acting are above par. The main characters are fleshed out really well and the story never really seems to drag. This movie is good for young and old alike. My one drawback to this package, other than it being REALLY late to the party, is the price. Look around, price match, and get yourself a great flick. One side note; you don't NEED a 3D TV to watch the blu-ray, because it supports 2D playback as well, but it is much, much better in 3D and without the red and blue glasses.

Fantastic, Best stop motion movie ever Made

This movie comes through in full stride in all aspects, The animation, the voices, and the story. I myself am a huge fan of stop motion movies like wallace & Gromit, The nightmare before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, and so on. Story: A little girl named Coraline moves to a house called the pink Pallace where she shares the house with Ms. Spink & Ms. Forcible asnd Mr. Bobinsky, while exploring her new home she stumbles upon a door that leads to a brick wall but then it becomes a portal to her house in a different world where she meets her other mother who shows her the time of her life but she has evil plans in store for Coraline... Overall: Fantastic Book by Neil Gaiman, amazing story Voicing: Dakota Fanning, Ian McShane, Dawn French, Overall: Got Coralines voice spot on and caught her true essence of the character Animation: Stop-motion animation is the most difficult but most rewarding animation by creating evering from scratch and building it into a masterpiece like coraline, The animators averaged seven seconds of animation a week! Overall: Dazzling, beautiful coloring of the garden, and on the characters, most beautiful animation ever I give it a 5 out of 5 and I recommend this movie to anyone and i'm sure it will become a cult classic in the near future like the Nightmare Before Christmas!

    Great 3D Effects

Got this movie bundled with a Panasonic Viera 3d TV that I bought in October 2010. This movie is head and shoulders above the other 3d movies we've watched. 3d effects really jump out of the screen compared to the others. It's my understanding that this was the only Blu Ray 3d movie available that was especialy made to be shown in 3D (stop-frame animation). If you liked the original movie you'll love this one! Just remember, you got to have the 3d-enabled TV and the special $150.00 battery-operated glasses to watch it. Otherwise, you'll be selling it used on E Bay, like so many others! Enjoy!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. We are huge Tim Burton fans, but lately he's been on this singing kick with all his movies. My wife and I love his films, but we can't stand all the singing! For us, it just ruins the movie! However, this movie has NO singing! Hooray! We're finally able to enjoy his movies once again. This was a really well made movie with a unique plot. A good movie for everyone, not just kids. I highly recommend it! Also, we can't wait for Alice in Wonderland to come out, hopefully Tim Burton didn't put any singing in that one either. Our only complaint was the 3D glasses. Everything was just green and they gave us a headache. We just took them off about halfway through and watched it in 2D, it was actually better. (And no, it's not our TV. We have a 42" 1080i LCD, which is perfect for 3D movies.) I have a friend that had the same problem, he has a pair of clear 3D glasses and says they work better. So if you have a pair of clear 3D glasses like they give you in the theater, then I recommend using those. (We had the same problem with another 3D DVD, they just give you cheap glasses.)

    Outstanding!

Coraline is an outstanding film. I saw it at the theater twice and have been anxiously awaiting its release on DVD. The story is captivating and the cinematography is breathtaking with its wide array of color. Coraline had moments of humor, sentiment, and at times was very eerie. This film can be enjoyed and appreciated by adults and children alike. Although there were eerie moments, any child who enjoys watching The Nightmare Before Christmas will love Coraline. I am a huge Tim Burton fan and found Henry Selick's style to be very similar to Burton's. Henry Selick could very well be the next cult classic director. I can't wait for his next movie!

I didn't have high expectations for this because I thought it would have a bunch of singing. I was very pleased when it didn't. I watched this with my two young daughters, we all enjoyed it. I highly recommend it! However, you'll probably end up watching it in 2D like we did. The 3D glasses they give you are cheapos, they make everything green. Some other great kids movies my daughters love (that unfortunately have singing in them) are Sweeney Todd, Repo: The Genetic Opera, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

    Best claymation movie ever!

I may get some hate for this but I enjoyed this movie more than A Nightmare Before Christmas. While ANBC is a great claymation movie, this one just blows me away. The whole story and funny gags are something that kids and parents will all enjoy! The 3D is one of the best 3D movies there is out there's o if you ever want to show off your brand new 3D tv, this is movie to show!

This is a great movie. I was shocked by the plot of this film. It is very twsted and will keep you watching through the entire movie. I did not want to watch this at first, but after few moments I was drawn into the story line. The only downfall of this one is that it is a little creepy for children. My daughter woke up several times that night with some night mares. This is a very good watch. I would certainly recommend this one!!! See for yourself and ENJOY.

I enjoyed this wonderful little animation a lot, however I wasn't totally impressed with the 3D look. The environments do have some depth with the glasses on though. As a nostalgic bonus It's fun non the less. Both the 2D and 3D versions are on the same disc which is a nice feature. If you've seen the Real D 3D version in theaters, you'll find it's far more impressive. Over all I loved the story and the visuals.

watched 2-D version first--which was great, afterwards took out 3-D glasses and put on that version (to just see what looked like)...WOW!!! Jaw Dropping, let me tell you on bluray and with Sony Bravia XBR 240 refresh... let me tell you....the last person must have been watching on a 1987 tube tv...lol If you have a newer lcd or plasma check it out in 3-D----will not be dissapointed.
