Good Laptop Ram Memory for the money.

Easy Install in my laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this memory because Corsair has an excellent reputation when it comes to their memory. I wasn't diappointed in the least. Works like a champ and took my laptop from 3 Gigs RAM to 8 Gigs RAM for my Win7 64 bit install. Need the memory for video processing as I transcode alot of video files to MP4 format to be placed on my NAS for use with my Set top box

Good ram but slow, better alternatives for Mac...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well, the first pack I bought had a bad stick as evidenced by MemTest86+ so I exchanged that for a new one and that one worked. This RAM is good and is also cheap but it has a CAS latency of 9 which is slower than the 7 Apple uses... In MemTest86+ this equates to about 200 megabytes per second less performance from this RAM compared to the apple RAM do yourself a favor and pay the extra for CL7 RAM if you are putting it in a 2009 MacBook Pro

BSODS on Thinkpad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tried two different sets of these (Corsair Value Ram) and both gave BSOD errors, wouldn't get past BIOS. Tried swapping banks, only one, both, etc., def the ram (could be a voltage differential, most DDR SODIMM's are 1.5v, I think these were marked 1.3v??) Anyway, gave up and went with Kingston RAM from another vendor. Popped in, booted fast, smooth as silk (as RAM installs these days SHOULD go) Corsair was always fast and excellent RAM, but this "Value Select" ain't... System: Lenovo X201 thinkpad. So, depending on system, YMMV.

Good memory
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just ordered on the 24th, and received on the 26th; I was told not to expect it until the 31st-3rd so delivery was amazing. Just installed in under 5 minutes and no start up problems and or anything. I gave performance an average because I haven't really experienced it yet, but I just went from 4gb to 8 gb so I hope to notice a nice improvement in multitasking.

Went bad in 6 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this ram for my Mac Mini. Install was easy and it worked great at first. It performs well. However, something has gone bad in 1 of the sticks. It is causing my computer to lock up. It puts up glitchy bars across the screen and the audio is a steady digital buzzing tone even when there was no active audio when it locks up. It will do it while watching video, during startup, and waking from sleep mode. Hoping to return/exchange it

Didn't work out of the box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this today to upgrade my mid-2010 Macbook Pro from 2x2GB ram to 2x4GB ram. The salesman raved about how Mac friendly this memory is but my Mac wouldn't boot up with this ram installed. I made sure it was installed correctly and tried swapping card slots to no avail. Went back to the original ram that came with my MBP and it booted right up. This might work well for PC's but not so for the Mac. I tried Command>Option>P>R to reset the ram too and it didn't work. I'm back to buying the Kingston upgrade on amazon since it worked perfectly for my iMac.

Doesn't work well for 27" iMac mid 2010
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This ram caused my mid 2010 27" iMac to randomly restart. Tried to remove it and reinstall it and it still did it, tried to reset pram still reset randomly, kind of a bummer.

Dud out of the box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I realize anyone can get some bad RAM, but this is the second time I've bought a pair of Corsair where one out of the two sticks have been defective. Tried to upgrade a laptop and only after some error discovered one of the sticks was bad. This same thing happened when upgrading a coworkers laptop recently as well. Two out of two purchases isn't very good odds, so I have to give this a dud. It also doesn't help that it took me 20 minutes to get out of the store, as they had this one sale and no one bothered to update the pricing in the cash registers, causing the VERY inexperienced cashier to nearly have a nervous breakdown, as well.

Not for Touchsmarts
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I work on computers/phone lines every day for a living, so I have a pretty good base knowledge. I thoroughly researched the specs on my pc to ensure the new memory (upgrade) matched the current memory spec for spec (except the GBs, of course). It does match and from everything I found before and after, it SHOULD be compatible, but its not. Bought it yesterday, picked it up today, & (hopefully) returning today during their secret sale.

Not For iMac
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed this upgrade kit to my mid 2010 iMac and the computer would not start. It hung up about a third of the way through the booting sequence - which is about the time that the system is checking for valid memory. Removed and reinstalled just to be sure. Same result. Skip this memory and save yourself a return trip to the store if you have an iMac.
